I just spoke with Stef (the woman who created this post).
The situation is crazy stupid. Communities cannot go and help another community. So the community next to where they are has gas (that's where my sister lives) but they can't cross the boundary. There are police keeping them away. Boats bringing food and water are not being allowed to drop off food for the people.
People are trying to bring in pumps and things to fight the fires and they need a "permit" but the permit could take days.
Apparently, the most elite fire fighting crew is in Port Alberni but the BC government won't sigh a contract with them to fight the fire here. This is Maui all over again - right here.
Please share this with everyone you know. We need to speak up.
