Multiple sources, including Puerto Rico’s Governor, have reported that the power grid in Puerto Rico has gone black.
The statement by Governor Pierluisi says (translated), "Emergency incidents are being reported as a consequence of #HuracanFiona. LUMA Energy and the Electric Power Authority report that due to the effect of the hurricane, the electrical system is currently out of service.
They have activated the protocols according to the plans established to attend to this situation. The staff of both LUMA and of the ESA is active and ready to respond to the situation once the conditions allow it.
Rivers are also reported outside their channel in different regions of Puerto Rico. We emphasize that the security of everyone and everyone is the priority right now.
NMEAD staff is actively responding to those emergencies in which the life of citizens is in imminent danger.

Puerto Ricans braced Sunday as Hurricane Fiona barreled closer, nearly five years to the day after a blockbuster system ravaged the island and left thousands dead.
Fiona, a Category 1 storm, was expected to unleash life-threatening rainfall and dangerous mudslides, forecasters said. "Catastrophic flooding" was likely across Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, the National Hurricane Center said as the eye of the storm approached the southwest coast of Puerto Rico.
Accuweather said, but the storm could whip up dangerous surf and strong rip currents along the East Coast later this week.👀

The word "historic" seems to precede weather stories all too often this year and the storm front brewing in the Pacific this weekend is no different.
The remnants of Typhoon Merbok will bring potentially historical coastal flooding, high surf, coastal erosion, high winds, high seas and heavy rain to western Alaska and the Bering Sea through the weekend.
A low-pressure system spun out of that storm was making its way down the coast to Northern California by late Saturday night and bringing a bout of rare September rain.
