Title: Shape of Living Escherichia coli: A Physical Approach
بررسی شکل باکتری ای-کلای با رهیافت مکانیک-آماری

Abstract:
The behavior and survival of bacteria as the oldest and smallest living organism in our planet have been interesting subjects for researchers. In view of the fact that the shape of bacteria can be assumed to play an important role in their behavior and survival, scientists have been fascinated by the large variety of cell shapes between different species. Cell shape is the result of a complicated process, and interest in understanding this process has increased by both biological and biophysical approaches. We used a combination of optical microscopy, and image processing to detect the fine structure of the cell envelop in E. coli. Following that, the correlation between local–cell-widths, along the bacterial shape, was investigated, and through that, a multi-domain morphological structure in the cylindrical part of E. coli, was predicted.
