Rhodesians against the Communists "Rhodesian Bush War" (1965 - 1980)
Kosmas of Aetolia, a saint in Greek Orthodox Christianity, is known for his teachings and accurate prophecies about the future. Here is what he said concerning rifles:

"God gave us hands to make the sign of the Cross with pure faith, with fear, awe, and reverence, and not to take up a rifle and kill our brother. Neither are we to steal from him, persecute him, murder him, or shame him. He gave us feet to walk the good path and not to take the road that leads us to do evil to our brother. If at your wedding you use drums, violins, dances, songs, [shoot] rifles, wear ornaments, and perform other devilish acts, then the marriage is cursed..."

The following prophecy is attributed to him. He said that a time will come when, "they will demand to take away the rifles from you. Keep double, give one, and hide the other. A rifle will save 100 lives."

The invasion of Europe by Muslim migrants from the East remind Bulgarians of their 500 years of occupation by the Ottomans. A period of savage episodes of massacre and rape both during the fall and in the wars to remove them — as such, they feel strongly to never fall to a Muslim invasion again. In this dubbed video the "Vasil Levski" paramilitary volunteers patrol the Bulgarian border against the mass migrants who storm into Europe illegally.

989AD: Basil II and his Icon

"[Phocas] Gathering speed, he made straight for the emperor with a wild war-cry, his sword uplifted in his right hand, as if he intended to kill the emperor there and then.

While Phocas was so boldly charging towards him, Basil rode out in front of his army too. He took his stand there, sword in hand. In his left hand he clasped the image of the Saviour's Mother, thinking this ikon the surest protection against his opponent's terrific onslaught.

Phocas swept on, like a cloud driven on by violent winds, whirling over the plain. Meanwhile those who were stationed on either flanks hurled their javelins at him. Among others.. was the emperor Constantine, brandishing a long spear. After he had galloped forward some distance... Phocas suddenly slipped from his saddle and was thrown to the ground.

Some contend that he was hit by the javelin-throwers and fell mortally wounded..Others that he was overcome by a sudden faintness" [or poison]

The Varangians from the island of Thule in the service of Eastern Roman Emperor

“For men of firm disposition can fix their mind on the matter before them and overlook external disturbances... He [the Emperor] therefore found out which soldiers were on duty in the various towers. He learnt that in one place the "Immortals" were on guard (this is the most select regiment of the Roman army) and in another the Varangians from Thule (by these I mean the axe-bearing barbarians) and in yet another the Nemitzi [*Germans] (these too are a barbaric tribe who have been subjects of the Roman Empire from of old)… The Varangians... who carried their axes on their shoulders, regarded their loyalty to the Emperors and their protection of the imperial persons as a pledge and ancestral tradition, handed down from father to son, which they keep inviolate and will certainly not listen to even the slightest word about treachery.”

Anna Comnena. The Alexiad.
