اثر مک‌گرک یک پدیده‌ی شناختی است که تعامل میان شنوایی و بینایی را در ادراک صدا نشان می‌دهد. این اثر موقعی روی می‌دهد که یک صدا با جزء دیداری صدای دیگری جفت شده و به درک یک صدای ثالث می‌انجامد.

صدای فیلم بالا همواره در حال ادای «با» است، اما بسته به نوع حرکات لب‌ها و زبان گوینده، به اشکال مختلفی –«با»، «وا»، «دا»- شنیده می‌شود. اگر کیفیت صدا پایین و کیفیت تصویر بالاتر برود، شنونده بیشتر مستعد اثر مک‌گرک خواهد بود. به علاوه نشان داده شده افرادی که در یکپارچه‌سازی حواس مختلف قوی‌ترند، بیشتر دچار این پدیده‌ی شناختی می‌شوند.
