One of the things I think would probably benefit discourse™ is emphasizing the difference between the natural desire for accomplishment and capitalist productivity culture. It's normal to want to be good at things. It's normal to want to contribute to things. It's even normal, to some degree, to feel bad if you're "wasting" your days without aiding a wider cause or effort. Human accomplishment comes hand in hand with a sense of meaning and purpose.
What ISN'T normal is the belief that everything you do is something you must be good at, or must be able to be turned into a career or some other form of profit. It's also not normal to feel guilty every single day you aren't working towards some greater ends. Everyone has things they want to do, but everyone also needs downtime, rest and deviation.
Nearly everyone needs a sense of accomplishment, and that's okay. The issue is how capitalism has taken that need and turned it self destructive.
