Wolfypostaggio but scary

I'm thinking a lot about this today.
I was at a commemorative ceremony (25 years since the passing of a long time friend of my parents and famous musician) in Croatia. The day started with the organiser offering us a shot of liquor. We had grappa at the ceremony and then went to a tavern afterwards.
It was a very ethilic day and everyone was telling little stories about her and drinking to her memory.
I find it very sweet, a reminder that even though the departed aren't physically with us, they will remain inside us forever. She died when I was 2, so I can't say I've really known her, but I've heard stories and anecdotes from my parents and it's almost like I did.
I love the tradition of feasting together to honour the departed.

Also, since I'm asking around, if you'd like to tell me what are the funerary traditions where you're from I'd be very happy to know
