The oldest tree.
It grows in California. The seed sprouted at the very end of the fourth millennium B.C., when hieroglyphics were invented in Egypt and the first cities appeared in Mesopotamia. This as yet unnamed tree is 5070 years old, belongs to the species "intermountain pine" and grows somewhere on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada in the Inyo National Forest Reserve. Its location is kept in the strictest secrecy to preserve the peace of the ancient tree from the ubiquitous tourists.
Just imagine, this pine tree is the oldest living organism on Earth! It is a contemporary of the beginning of our civilization, and the creation of the world according to the Mayan calendar. The pine was already about five centuries old when the pyramids began to be built in Egypt, and more than six when Stonehenge was decorated with stone rings.

A derecho is a strong storm wind associated with a fast-moving group of severe thunderstorms. The storm hit Sioux Falls at lunchtime, bringing with it cloudy green skies, and subsided by late afternoon, leaving more than 26,000 people without power.
