January 15, 2009 "Miracle on the Hudson" - the famous landing of the A320 in New York City

Ninety seconds after takeoff, the plane collided with a flock of geese, resulting in both engines failing. The pilots realized that they would not make it to the airport, so they decided to divert the plane to the Hudson River. Miraculously not hitting the George Washington Bridge, the commander of the A320 leveled the plane over the river and, with a strong impact, dived. Only 208 seconds elapsed between the crash and the downdraft. Another 24 minutes later, all passengers and crew were rescued.
