This is the oldest cat in the world, who has outlived two owners. Her name is Flossie, and yesterday she turned 30 years old.

For her age, the record holder remains lively and active: she wakes up early for breakfast and alternates between sleeping and playing during the day.

Flossie lived with her first owner for 10 years, until her death, then the deceased's sister took the cat in, and she lived with her for another 14 years. Now the fluffy cat has been living with an English family for 6 years.

In human years, Flossie is approximately 140–150 years old.

China put on a spectacular show for the residents of Russia, the city of Blagoveshchensk*

*The Russian city of Blagoveshchensk and the Chinese city of Heihe are located across the river Amur (in Chinese: Heilongjiang).
Every year, China organises a show for the residents of Blagoveshchensk in honour of the New Year, despite the fact that China celebrates the New Year according to its own calendar, which is 17 February, so 1 January is a normal day for them.

This is what a "shalai" or "shabaka" looks like — a unique hybrid of a jackal and a Laika dog, bred specifically for work in the special services.

They have a super-powerful sense of smell — they can recognise up to half a million scents — and are remarkably hard-working, performing tasks in temperatures ranging from -70°C to +50°C. They are also 60% vegetarian, as this diet helps to keep their sense of smell sharp.

This is a young and very rare breed — there are only about 100 of them in the world.

Broccoli is the most nutritious vegetable in the world. The US Centre for Disease Control has given it the highest score of 100.

Experts analysed 41 fruits and vegetables, assessing their content of key nutrients, vitamins and trace elements without unnecessary calories.
— Broccoli received the maximum score of 100 points.
— One cup of broccoli provides up to 106% of the daily requirement of vitamin K, about 17% of vitamin C and 6% of vitamin A, and also contains antioxidants and phytochemicals that are important for the stable functioning of the body.
— At the same time, it has a minimal calorie content — about 4 kcal per cup;
— For comparison: the best fruit in the ranking — the tomato (considered a fruit in botany) scored only 20.37 points.

Foul language in people is a sign of high intelligence, not the opposite.

Linguistic studies have shown that the ability to swear a lot and in a variety of ways indicates a rich vocabulary and developed fluency of speech.

It turns out that masterful use of profanity is not a sign of ignorance, but a complex communication skill and a sign of eloquence.

Disrupted sleep patterns significantly increase the risk of heart attack, dementia and depression, according to a study by the New York Times.

Irregular sleep disrupts circadian rhythms. The body becomes confused about when to produce melatonin and cortisol, metabolism is disrupted, immunity declines and chronic inflammation accumulates.

It's easy to fix this:
— Go outside every morning at the same time, for at least 20–30 minutes.
— If you can't go outside, use bright light or a lamp in the morning.
— Set your alarm clock an hour before bedtime and prepare for it calmly, without gadgets.
— Stick to your schedule even on weekends — a deviation of more than 30 minutes is already considered a problem.
— Don't wait until you get tired — the damage is done in the background, even when you feel fine.

Experts are confident that stable sleep works better than any biohacks.

Nuclear icebreakers shine like Christmas trees — the ships are lit up with lots of lights because such a machine has nowhere else to put its energy.

The crew on board must constantly maintain the same level of load on the reactor to prevent it from stalling. Thus, nuclear icebreakers become true beacons in the world of endless polar night.

People with high IQs are more likely to be lonely and unhappy in relationships, according to a study.

Intellectuals often remain single because they think too much. Low impulsivity and constant cold calculation prevent them from igniting the "fire of love" and emotional intimacy in another person.

In addition, smart people are usually too demanding of their partners — it is difficult to find suitable candidates who meet their criteria.

You know who to send this to.
