Ask any rural old white the same question (where is everyone) and you get the same stupid boomer sob story about how they encouraged their kids to go have a "better life" and move off to college for the "American dream", leaving the place depopulated. Everyone's life is worse for this, all the issues of atomization in society. And the kids that stayed and monopolized the few trades in the area are well off and live well, unlike their unhappy, doped, unemployed, rentoid compatriots who left for college. When you leave your home town you leave whatever support network you had: your network is your net worth, and kids spend 18 years building up a local network only to throw it all away and start from scratch in college.
News flash: college is only useful if you network, and all the ivy league kids networked together before going to their networking school. You, a peasant, who leaves your state to go to school for a better opportunity, just got duped into de-networking yourself and making yourself socially useless. Your wife won't have help with the kids, you have to make new friends, find new stuff etc. etc. 18 years of work, wasted. They don't tell you this part and how the "American dream" is a lie meant to disconnect whites.
