Democrats are trying to make gun ownership prohibitively expensive

This $4,709 NFA tax has no chance of passing, right now, but it shows where the democrats are at in terms of what they want to do. If they have the majority again, they WILL try to do this, and it will have a chance of passing at that point.

Not only that, but you saw how the GOP was able to remove the tax on SBRs, SBSs, AOWs, and suppressors from the NFA in 2025. What's to say that if they gain the white house and congress again that they won't put all of those back, this time much higher than they were before, but also add more categories of things to the NFA? We know the democrats are much more power-savvy than the republican'ts are, and they WILL try to do stuff like this.

In all likelihood the third circuit is going to strike down New Jersey's ban on "assault weapons" and "high capacity" magazines soon, which will open up the issue to be ruled on by the SCOTUS once and for all. What happens if whether or not it's constitutional to ban them becomes irrelevant though after the democrats just put a prohibitively expensive tax on those things instead?

That's probably what's going through the democrats' minds right now. The most bizarre thing is that there's one of those places you're supposed to actually leave the cart just as far away as the snow bank was.
