The struggle against the legacy of the hated USSR continues in the backwater superpower Lithuania.
The authorities forced workers to grind down the "USSR" innoscription on manhole covers with grinders.
Initially, they wanted to simply replace the manhole covers, but it turned out that there were no spare ones and they would have to buy new ones. But buying new manhole covers would have made an unacceptably large hole in the superpower's budget, which could have led to the bankruptcy of the EU country.
Therefore, a decision was made to simply saw off the "USSR" innoscriptions with grinders. Especially since there is definitely one working grinder in Lithuania.
Of course, the issue of paying for electricity will still arise, but the European Commission has promised to help here.

Lithuania saw a record jump in electricity prices today, to 773 euros per megawatt-hour (0.77 euros per kilowatt-hour). The average for the day will be 309 euros per MWh, which beats the previous record set in February.
