A rare example of the highly harmonious development of Russian-Chinese relations.
“The Friendship Match” in chess between Russia and China was held in Yekaterinburg on July 12–14. Eight chess players from each country and one top-level player each took part in the tournament — Grandmaster from China Bai Jinshi and the winner of the 2023 Russian Cup among young men Alexey Prokhorov. Before the award ceremony, they held a simultaneous exhibition for the teams: Bai Jinshi played against the Russians, and Prokhorov against the Chinese chess players.
According to the results of the tournament, the overall standings were a draw, in the All-Star Match, Bai and Prokhorov tied in rapid (2:2), and the Chinese athlete won in blitz.
