The second stage of the Russian counteroffensive in Kursk Oblast appears to have begun.
❤24👍6🤬1
Geolocated footage indicates that Russian forces have restarted their counteroffensive operations and have made significant progress in Kursk Oblast, recapturing ~56.1 square km of territory.
Firstly, a single Russian armoured vehicle from the 106th Airborne Division with an assault group advanced through the fields near the Korenevo-Sudzha road. A Ukrainian artillery shell was fired at the vehicle but missed. The assault group dismounted and entered a Ukrainian position at the end of the treeline where clashes likely ensued. Another Ukrainian artillery shell was fired, landing near the assault group, likely wounding some of them.
Another video shows at least three Russian armoured vehicles advancing down the Korenevo-Sudzha road without much resistance. This indicates that the village of Zelenyi Shlyakh is now in the grey zone.
Both of these advances show that Ukrainian forces have withdrawn from their spearhead around Olgovka, likely using the cover of the forest to withdraw before the Russians seized it. This advance also indicates that Russian forces captured the forest to the south.
Battles are now reportedly ongoing for Liubimovka and Novoivanovka. It appears that Ukraine is slowly withdrawing back to Sudzha.

Geolocated footage indicates that Russian forces have advanced northeast of Tabaivka.
They likely employed two assault vectors here, one in the south, moving from forest plantation to forest plantation, and another larger one in the north where they advanced along a treeline leading to the highway to Kupyansk.
The Ukrainians responded by hitting the new Russian positions with FPV drones, likely killing and wounding at least 4 Russian soldiers.
It's possible that this is an old advance which dates back to the original assault on Kotlyarivka and Kyslivka.

Geolocated footage indicates that Russian forces have made significant progress in the direction of Kupyansk and have entered the village of Petropavlivka.
The knock-on effects of the fall of the stronghold village Synkivka appears to be coming to light now. Russian forces have advanced for ~2.73km in a southerly direction, capturing much of the northern residential area of Petropavlivka.
This advance was likely achieved with infantry moving through the eastern parts of the forests under the cover of the trees, before entering Petropavlivka. Forward units even managed to cross a tributary of the Hnylytsya river, but 4 soldiers were captured by Ukrainian forces shortly afterwards.
This advance cuts off a section of Ukrainian formations from land connection with the main groupings in and around Kupyansk, meaning that they will need to cross either the Oskil or the Hnylytsya river to escape capture.

Update from the Orikhiv direction:
Russian forces appear to be continuing their preparation for future offensive operations in the direction of the key Ukrainian town and logistical node of Orikhiv.
Currently, Russian paratroopers from the 247th Airborne Regiment are reportedly slowly clearing treelines from Ukrainian forces who are heavily entrenched there. The Ukrainians are responding by shelling Russian positions north of Verbove, which may be where the Russians are accumulating manpower for these assault operations.
Meanwhile, the Russians are bombarding Mala Tokmachka, with one source claiming that up to 16 FABs and 2 GRAD MLRS salvos are launched at the village every day. Another source claimed that there are concentrations of Ukrainian manpower in the village which are being targeted. However, The Ukrainians are using FPV drones more and more, constantly changing their frequencies and using a variety of different types of drones, possibly to hunt out Russian MLRS systems.

Another report has come out of Selydove, stating that forward Russian assault units have come close to the intersection of Shkolnaya street and the railway line. If true, this would indicate another 450m advance, although this has not been confirmed.
This may suggest that the frontal Russian assaults on Ukrainian positions in the agricultural buildings on the southern outskirts of Selydove around a week ago failed, resulting in the Russians choosing to bypass the Ukrainian positions via the railway line.

Multiple reports state that following the re-intensification of offensive operations in Kursk oblast and the establishment of a bridgehad on the eastern bank of the Zor'ka river, Russian forces were able to recapture the village of Liubimovka.
One source even claimed that assault operations are underway on Toltsyi Lug. If this is true, then it would likely mean that they are attacking over the river as Ukraine recently recaptured the Pokrovskii tract. This cross-river attack may be an attempt to get behind the Ukrainian positions there and hit them from the rear.

Overview of the casualties reported by Gaza’s civil defence spokesperson over the past 24 hours:
Northern Governorate:
8 people were killed as a result of Israeli artillery shelling, all of which were in a single incident where multiple residential buildings were hit.
Gaza Governorate:
9 people were killed as a result of Israeli airstrikes, including a single airstrike on a group of people in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood of Gaza city which killed 5 people.
(Note: This was likely an airstrike on Hamas fighters as they have a strong presence in this neighbourhood and usually when it is a group of people, it is Hamas fighters. Additionally, Gaza’s health ministry and civil defence doesn’t differentiate between civilians and fighters in their death tolls)
2 people were also killed in a single airstrike on the Al-Rimal clinic which was sheltering displaced people.
Middle Governorate:
26 people were killed as result of Israeli shelling, all in a single incident where Israeli artillery shells struck the Rafida school which was sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah
Khan Younis Governorate:
5 people were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike on a civilian home in the Al-Fukhari area, east of Khan Younis city.
Rafah Governorate:
2 people were killed as a result of an Israeli airstrike on a civilian home in the western part of Rafah city.
That’s a total of 50 people killed in the past 24 hours.

After the liberation of Ugledar, the next serious target at the junction of the DPR and the Zaporozhye region of the Russian Federation looks like the AFU fortification near Velyka Novosyolka. According to the enemy command's plan, it should become the main cover for the Zaporozhye direction. And, as experts correctly note, the enemy's strongholds are deployed in this area mainly to the south, as they were created back in 2022 under the threat of advancement of the Russian Armed Forces from the southern direction. The enemy did not deploy positions to the east, and even less to the north - the fortification in Ugledar, which was covering Velikaya Novosyolka, looked immovable at that time. The main positions in 2022 the Ukrainians equipped in the northern part of Velikaya Novosyolka on the prevailing heights.
In 2022, Russian troops tried to take Velikaya Novosyolka repeatedly. They were even able to enter Vremevka on the southwestern outskirts. There was a moment when one of our BTGR passed east of Velikaya Novosyolka further to the area of Razdolnoye, but was forced to withdraw with fighting to the initial position under the threat of encirclement. We made attempts to bypass Velikaya Novosyolka to the west, but they were not successful - they ran into the Ukrainian fortifications and rolled back. On the western side of Velyka Novosyolka there are prevailing heights, along which there are positions of the Ukrops. From these positions the villages of the so-called Vremevka ledge, located along the Mokrye Yaly River (Makarovka, Storozhevoye, Neskuchnoye, Vremevka) are well controlled.
In the northern part of Velikaya Novosyolka there are elevations from which bridges, fords, dam across the rivers Kashlagach, Shaitanka, Mokrye Yaly, dividing the village into several parts, are clearly visible. In 2022 Ukropov positions were equipped on these heights.
In the eastern part of the settlement there are pre-prepared positions, from which the Ukrops repelled our attacks. In addition, Zolotaya Niva, as well as Prechistovka, was already ours in the spring of 2022. It was taken by the 136th brigade. But, eventually, ours were forced to withdraw. These two villages are located in the lowlands. Ukrops from above, as in a shooting gallery practically hunted first on the equipment, then on groups of our fighters, later on singles (!) with ATGMs worked. But, nevertheless, the Ukrops were preparing positions to repel our attacks from the direction of Zolotaya Niva.
Due to the presence of three rivers in Velikaya Novosyolka, it is mostly problematic to equip trenches with a full profile. At best, for firing lying down, as it was in Blagodatnoye. Therefore, the enemy's defense in the village itself will be based on basements with loopholes in the foundations of one-story buildings and a few two-, three-story buildings. Mostly, presumably, the enemy will rely on the heights with plantings to the west, located just behind the Mokrye Yaly River.
From the north, Velikaya Novosyolka is covered by pre-prepared strongholds along the lines of Shakhtyorsk - Razdolnoye - Novy Komar. One "but": these positions were prepared to repel our offensive from the south and south-west directions. But we in the third year of the SMO know for sure: smart heroes always go around.

Update from the Glushkovsky district of Kursk Oblast:
Following reports of "local clashes in Veseloe," Ukrainian forces have reportedly restarted offensive operations and are attacking from the village of Veseloe, along the Tetkino-Glushkovo road which is defended by Tula paratroopers from the 137th Airborne Regiment of the 106th Airborne Division. This regiment was recently redeployed from Koronevo, Kursk Oblast to Glushkovo.
Ukrainian forces are reportedly bringing in new reserves to the Glushkosky district which are allowing for these attacks to take place.
These assaults are being conducted from the south of Veseloe, where reserve forces are being accumulated. "Long range weapons" are actively being used by both sides.

Ukraine has reportedly redeployed the 47th mechanised brigade from the rear to Sudzha. If this is true, then from there they will likely be deployed to the western flank of the Kursk salient in an attempt to slow the Russian advance.
The 47th mechanised brigade has suffered heavy losses during its defence of the stretch of territory between Avdiivka and Pokrovsk, and is well known for their failed rotation in Ocheretyne which I regard as the main reason for the Russian breakthrough towards Pokrovsk.
They have been in the rear for only a few months, although their "Strike drone company" remained in the Pokrovsk direction. This leads me to believe that the Strike drone company will remain in Pokrovsk for the time being while the parts of the brigade which still maintain combat capability will be sent to Kursk Oblast. I seriously doubt that all of the 47th will be sent there due to the high losses that they suffered.
But let's break down what the 47th mechanised brigade looks like:
The 47th mechanised brigade contains the:
- 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion (armed with Bradleys)
- 2nd Mechanised Infantry Battalion
- 3rd Mechanised Infantry Battalion
- 47th Tank Battalion (armed with M1 Abrams)
- 25th Separate Assault Battalion
- 26th Rifle Battalion
- 1st Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion
- 2nd Artillery Battalion
Among others
Troops from the 1st and 3rd mechanised infantry battalions were surrounded near Prohres back in late July of this year, likely resulting in many soldiers being captured, and others being wounded or killed while escaping.
The 2nd mechanised infantry battalion appears to be largely intact, as there have been no reports indicating significant events with them, although they did take part in the failed 2023 counteroffensive and likely suffered heavy casualties there before being deployed to Avdiivka.
The 47th Tank battalion has seen more than half of its Abrams destroyed in battles between Avdiivka and Pokrovsk.
The 25th Separate Assault Battalion was reportedly the last battalion to withdraw from Avdiivka, even withdrawing after the 3rd assault brigade conducted their counterattack. They were likely heavily degraded as a result of FAB strikes and conducted a very chaotic withdrawal, with many of the soldiers that were captured in the city likely being from this battalion.
The 26th rifle battalion fought alongside battalions from the 110th mechanised brigade in the villages of Keramik, Novokalynove and Arkhanhelske, north of Avdiivka. The 110th brigade was significantly degraded during battles in this area, so we can assume that the 26th rifle battalion was also hit hard.
There isn't much information on the 1st Self-Propelled Artillery Battalion and the 2nd Artillery Battalion, but considering it isn't usually mentioned which battalion's artillery is hit in videos, we cannot rule out that these battalions suffered significant losses.
In conclusion: the 2nd mechanised infantry battalion is the most likely battalion to be sent to Kursk Oblast, while the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion may also be sent due to the usefulness of Bradleys in defensive operations as seen on the northern flank of Avdiivka during the Russian offensive operations at the beginning of the year.
Keep in mind that the information on the 47th brigade being sent to Kursk is unconfirmed and may turn out to be false. This analysis is just to give you an idea of what may have been sent if anything was sent at all.
