This comes as Israel bombing campaigns have significantly intensified against civilian and Hamas targets in the northern Gaza Strip.

Many civilians moved to beit lahiya, which is north of Jabalia, to seek refugee. It was difficult for them to move to Gaza city due to intense bombing campaigns there, and they couldn’t move further south to the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone due to the risk of being shot by IDF soldiers if they passed through the netzarim corridor. Beit lahiya and neighboring beit hanoun were two of the “safest” options.
