Metamask or Rabby, overestimate the gas limit, because of this the cost of gas is shown higher than it should be. But only the needed eth is used to make the transaction, the rest is returned immediately.

I tried to change the gas limit manually, put 3-4 times less, it seems like the transaction becomes cheaper by 20%, but maybe it's just a coincidence.

So before making a transaction, in order not to overpay, look at what the cost of past transactions at the current moment in the Explorer.
