WAS MANDELA A SELL-OUT?

As South Africa almost clocks three decades since the fall of apartheid, millions of blacks continue wallowing in poverty. This has ignited debate on how the transition from apartheid was conducted. Some accuse the liberation movement leaders of selling out the struggle. Late African American political activist and former Nation of Islam member Dr. Khalid Muhammad once weighed in on this topic and didn't hold back. Was he being too harsh?

Africa is bigger than many people realize. But the way maps are drawn inflates the size of some countries, so places like the United States, Russia, Canada, and the whole European continent get massively inflated on traditional maps, whereas Africa appears smaller than its true size. When you draw countries to true scale, it’s amazing just how many you can fit into Africa.

SUDAN'S ARMY AND RSF MILITIA FIGHT IT OUT

Sudan's most powerful paramilitary group, the Rapid Support Forces, and Sudanese army seem to be in conflict with claims that the RSF on Saturday seized control of Sudanese airports in Khartoum and Merowe, as well as the presidential palace. Meanwhile, the Sudanese Army put out statements declaring the RSF a "rebel force" and said the paramilitary group was spreading "lies" about the military attacking first.

African Stream’s CEO Ahmed Kaballo explores what might be really happening.

Throwback to when Paul Kagame🥊the BBC. Rwanda’s president tore into the broadcaster’s superiority complex and its attempts to belittle Rwandans, exposing how agenda-driven the balance-touting corporation really is. The BBC's habit of making allegations it can’t substantiate was again on display during a recent interview with Twitter CEO Elon Musk, who left his interviewer red-faced by challenging him to stump up examples of a claimed rise in hate speech on the platform.

Fierce fighting has ripped through Khartoum, shattering hopes for a peaceful transition to civilian rule in Sudan. A power struggle between military leader Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the commander of the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, Mohamed Dagalo aka Hemeti, is at the centre of the violence, with forces loyal to the generals vying for control. However, it's also a proxy war for wider competing interests, as Egypt backs Burhan and the UAE backs Hemeti.

Meanwhile, is it a coincidence the USA stands to benefit from the upheaval? Plans for a Russian naval base in Sudan are now in jeopardy. But, whatever happens, it’s the Sudanese people that are losing the most with hundreds already killed.
