HOW ISRAEL BACKED SOUTH AFRICA’S APARTHEID

South Africa has initiated proceedings at the International Court of Justice against Israel, accusing it of genocide in Gaza. Apart from it being the morally right thing to do, South Africa indeed has a bone to pick with the Israeli occupation. While Africans were fighting to rid themselves of apartheid in South Africa, Israel backed the racist settler colonial regime. Friend of the channel and rapper Lowkey has an excellent short read explaining how. Share your thoughts below.

ICJ TRIAL: SOUTH AFRICA ACCUSES ISRAEL OF GENOCIDE

This morning, 11 January 2024, South Africa took a bold stand before the whole world as it publicly accused Israel of committing genocide against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip. This took place during the first of two days of public hearings being held at the International Court of Justice.

In this video clip, South African lawyer and legal scholar Tembeka Nicholas Ngcukaitob addresses the courtroom and the world, arguing Israel is clear about its genocidal intent toward Palestinians. He came prepared with evidence, including video clips of Israeli soldiers chanting,

Continued…..'There are no uninvolved citizens,' which South Africa says reveals Israel is not aiming solely at H*m*s, but at civilians, as well. In the last three months, the Israeli military has killed more than 23,000 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

South Africa's legal team stated during the opening of this trial that it relates deeply to the suffering of the Palestinian people and feels a moral obligation to speak up due to their own history under more than 40 years of apartheid. Palestine rallied behind South African freedom fighters by supplying material and political support during that time. More recently, South African parliamentarians voted to close the Israeli embassy in Pretoria and cut diplomatic ties with Israel. This came after South Africa recalled its ambassador and diplomats in Tel Aviv in early November in response

IRON BIBY: BURKINA FASO NEEDS YOU!

Iron Biby - Burkina Faso's log-lift and axle-press world champion - has flexed his muscle in support of his country’s army.

In this recruitment-drive video, he urges his compatriots to back their soldiers in their war against the extremist militants who’ve occupied swathes of the country. He also pulls a stuck army vehicle out of the mud!

The roots of Burkina’s security crisis lie in the NATO-inflicted collapse of the Libyan state in 2011, which saw jihadist fighters spill over into neighbouring countries and across the Sahel.

Burkinabe citizens have been joining volunteer corps to assist the army, but more recruits are needed.

This is the South African legal team - after its historic first day in the International Court of Justice, prosecuting Israel for alleged genocide.

Pretoria wants the ICJ to order Tel Aviv to halt its destructive air and ground campaign in Gaza, arguing that the Israeli leadership intends to destroy the population.

The civilian death count in the Strip already exceeds 23,000 - 10,000 are child casualties.

South Africa’s lead attorney, in his opening statement, drew parallels between his country’s suffering under the apartheid regime and the Palestinian people’s subjugation by Israel.

‘S. AFRICA NOT FREE TILL PALESTINE IS’ - JUSTICE MINISTER

South Africa’s justice minister has channelled his nation’s founding father Nelson Mandela - saying that his country will be free only when Palestine is free.

South Africa has won international praise for prosecuting Israel for genocide in Gaza at the International Court for Justice. Ronald Lamola is part of the team that presented Pretoria’s historic case in the Netherlands on January 11th.

South Africa believes it has enough evidence to demonstrate genocidal intent on the part of the Israeli leadership, as well as genocidal war crimes by Israeli forces in Gaza. Tel Aviv insists its war is intended only to eliminate the militant H*m*s network.

Continued….Both Israel and South Africa are signatories to the 1948 Genocide Convention, which defines genocide as “acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.”

Pretoria is urging the ICJ to order an emergency halt to Israel’s campaign - but many across the world hope the case will be a watershed that sees Israel and its Western enablers brought to book for their atrocities against Palestinians.

A Kenyan doomsday cult leader suspected of killing hundreds of victims could walk free within two weeks if he isn’t officially charged.

Pastor Paul Mackenzie has been in custody since last April over claims he told followers to starve themselves and their children to reach heaven.

During that time prosecutors have been examining the DNA of over 400 bodies found in Kilifi County near where the cult was based. While some had been starved, others had been strangled or suffocated.

Mackenzie denies wrongdoing and a senior magistrate has threatened to release him on specific terms, if he isn’t charged by the prosecution within a fortnight.

The defense says his constitutional rights for bail, along with other suspects, have been violated after being held for over ten months.

BROTHERS IN ARMS: S. AFRICA DEFENCE OF PALESTINE

Global support’s poured in for South Africa as it accuses Israel of genocide at the UN’s top court. Yesterday was the first day of the hearing at the International Court of Justice at The Hague.
And we’ve collected just some of the comments that have flooded social media.

For the last three months Israel has relentlessly bombed Palestinians, killing over 23,000. Tel Aviv claims it’s a justified response to Hamas’ attacks on Israel on October 7th. But its barbaric campaign has decimated one per cent of Gaza’s two million residents, half of which are children.

South Africa knows only too well what colonial occupation and apartheid look like and argues events in Palestine need to be viewed with 75 years of history in mind. It also says nothing warrants the scale of death and destruction unleashed on Gaza.

Please share more of your thoughts. We’ll sample and post some of them on Monday.
