TIMELESS SEEDS OF ADVICE

Ibn 'Abbas (radi Allahu anhu) narrated: "I was behind the Prophet (ﷺ) one day when he said: 'O boy! I will teach you a statement: Be mindful of Allah and He will protect you. Be mindful of Allah and you will find Him before you. When you ask, ask Allah, and when you seek aid, seek Allah's aid. Know that if the entire creation were to gather together to do something to benefit you- you would never get any benefit except that Allah had written for you. And if they were to gather to do something to harm you- you would never be harmed except that Allah had written for you. The pens are lifted and the pages are dried.'"

Arguing with a Scholar or an Ignoramus
Yūnus reports: Maymūn b. Mihrān once wrote to me saying:
Beware of dispute and argumentation about the religion, and do not argue with a scholar nor an ignoramus. As for the scholar, he will withhold his knowledge from you, and will not be concerned with what you do. As for the ignorant person, he will only cause roughness in your heart and he will not obey you [anyway].

Are u Unhappy with the Qadr of Allah
So many of us fall into this, read & examine yourself akhawaat & change ur attitude:
That’s just great! This is why I hate Mondays!”
“What is wrong with this laptop? Another virus!! And of course this would happen NOW, when I have all this important work to finish!!”
“The car seems to break down every time I’m running late!”
“My stupid cellphone keeps shutting down…!”
“Oh great! One more red light! As if I’m not late enough!”
“I stoved my toe on that stupid table!”
These small everyday trials we face and the emotions we react with are all part of our personal test. Our reactions, beliefs, and statements are all being recorded!
With the above mentioned complaints and reactions, who are we actually displeased with? We know that the table didn’t do anything to our toe, right? We know that cars, cellphones, and laptops don’t actually choose to do things to harm us in reality, right?
So then, again – WHO or WHAT are we really displeased with when uttering these kinds of statements?
We desperately need our spouses, friends, and companions to remind us, quite simply, with the following question:
Are you unhappy with the Qadr of Allaah?
Let us replace the bad reactions mentioned with the very best guidance available, the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad
“…And if something (bad) befalls you, do not say, ‘Had I only done such-and-such, then such-and-such would have happened, rather say: Qadrullaahi, wa maa shaa’ fa’ala (This is from the Qadr of Allaah, and He does whatever He wills).” [Saheeh Muslim]
Let us affirm everything we face as the Qadr of Allaah, submit to Allaah being pleased with the trial He (and no one else) has chosen for us, and be afraid of a bad reaction that would be written against us and handed to us on the Day of Account.
And Allaah knows best.

Whoever makes it there has succeeded, but some people will come and be driven to the left side. I will say: O Lord, my nation! It will be said: You do not know what they invented after you, turning away on their heels!”

Duas asking Allah for Risq (Provision, Wealth & Blessings).
The Keys to Risq is offering Prayers with patience and remaining Steadfast on it.
And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness.
This means to save them from the punishment of Allah by the establishment of the prayer, and you also be patient in performing it.
This is as Allah says,
(O you who believe! Ward off yourselves and your families against a Fire (Hell).) [66:6]
(We ask not of you a provision: We provide for you.) This means that if you establish the prayer, your sustenance will come to you from where you did not expect.
This is as Allah says,
(And whosoever has Taqwa of Allah, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And He will provide him from (sources) he never could imagine.) [65:2-3]
Allah also says,
(And I (Allah) created not the Jinn and mankind except that they should worship Me (Alone).) until,
(Verily, Allah is the All-Provider, Owner of Power, the Most Strong.) (51:56-58)
Thus, Allah says,
(We ask not of you a provision: We provide for you.)
Verily, At-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah recorded that Abu Hurayrah (May Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said,
(Allah, the Exalted, says, "O son of Adam, perform My worship and I will fill your chest with wealth and fulfill your needs. If you do not do so, then I will fill your chest with toil and I will not fulfill your needs.")
It is also reported from Zayd bin Thabit (May Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying,
(Whoever makes the worldly life his major concern, then Allah will scatter his situation for him (i.e. make it difficult) and his poverty will be placed between his eyes. He will not get from this world anything except that which has already been written for him. Whoever makes the Hereafter his intention, then his situation will be gathered for him (i.e. made easy) and his wealth will be placed in his heart. The worldly life will come to him anyway (in spite of his not seeking it).)
Concerning Allah's statement,
(And the good end is for those who have Taqwa.) This means the good end in this life and in the Hereafter. In the Hereafter, the good end will be Paradise for whoever feared Allah.
Surah Taha 20:132

Ibn Abī Dunya mentioned that Al-Hasan Al-Basrī wrote to 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Azīz, saying,
❝To proceed: Indeed, this world is an abode of affliction, not a place of permanent residence. Adām was sent down to it as a punishment, so beware of it, Commander of the Believers! The best provision is in leaving it, and true richness [lies in] having a lack of it. It always possesses a victim - it humiliates those who honour it and leaves the one who amasses it with nothing. It is like poison being consumed by one who does not recognize it, and it [leads to] his death. So be in it [this world] like a patient treating his wounds seeking shelter for a short while, fearing something he dislikes that could last a long time; and patient upon the difficulties of the remedy, fearing the prolongation of the affliction. Beware of this deceptive and illusory abode that has become enchanting with its tricks and tempting with its deception. This world gives illusions of false hope, and enchants those who wish to marry it so it became like a decorated bride - the eyes are fixated upon her, the hearts captivated by her, and souls infatuated by her; yet, it kills off every willing suitor. Whoever succeeds in obtaining his desires from her becomes arrogant and [has] transgressed, forgetting the Hereafter; his mind becomes preoccupied with her until he slips and his regret intensifies; his sorrows grow and he finds himself faced with the agonies of death, the pain of loss, and the disappointment of infatuated person who failed attain his aim. He lives in resentment, his ambitions crumble, and he fails to achieve what he desired. In addition to this, his soul found no respite, so he departed with no provisions, traversing towards an uncomfortable abode. So let your happiest moments in it be the moments when you are most wary of it; for whenever one of her inhabitants finds calmness in it leading to some joy, it swiftly transforms into distress [replacing] ease with calamity, and ensures that living in it leads to death. The joy in it is tainted with sadness, her promises are false, and her aspirations are in vain. Serenity in it is bitter and life in it difficult. If her Lord had not informed about her, nor given similitudes of her, she would have alerted the sleeping one and warned the unaware. So what about when Allah has sent admonitions regarding her and deterrents? In the sight of Allāh, she has no value or weight, and He has not looked favourably upon her since her creation. She was presented to our Prophet with her luxuries and it would not have diminished him in the sight of Allāh to the extent of a mosquito's wing had he accepted - but he refused to accept. He refused to love what the Creator detests or elevate what the King has debased. So, He made her a test for the righteous and apportioned an abundance to His enemies as an allurement; so the one who becomes deluded by it and able to attain it believes that he has been honoured through her, forgetting what Allāh decreed for His Messenger (ﷺ) when He tightened a stone upon his belly (from hunger).❞

A sister asked, "What is your ambition and what have you planned in order to make those ambitions a reality?" After hearing some of the answers we gave, she again asked "What if I could tell you the simplest means on how you can GUARANTEE to make those ambitions a reality?" We all looked at each other and eagerly awaited to hear the secret to make all our dreams and ambitions a reality. She continued to emphasise on the fact that she was about to share something that would forever change our lives. "By Allah!" She continued, if you follow this simple step, I assure you in fact I guarantee it because this isn't my promise but the promise of the Lord of Ka'ba to fulfil your needs. She paused for a moment and recited the following:
Number One: You have needs that aren't met yet. We all have goals and dreams we'd like to achieve or find ourselves in situations where our business isn't doing so well, our health isn't up to scratch and we seek shifa' the best/halal way we know without success, we are broke, our loved ones are facing problems, our marriage is on the rocks etc. And no matter what we do to change our situation for the better, nothing seems to work. We make du'a, our daily salah is on point, we give charity when we can, we fast when we can, we get up for qiyam-ul-layl when we can but are we missing something here? It's very simple if we only reflect as Allah Azaa Wajal, The Most Merciful Lord has already given us the answer over 1400 years ago. Let's see what the Prophet (saaw) advised his companions:
"Whoever fulfils the need of his brother, Allah will fulfil His needs.." Right there! There's our answer!!! Without a shadow of a doubt and with 100% certainty, we all Know that Allah NEVER FAILS IN HIS PROMISE! And He tells us that If we help our fellow brothers and sisters and fulfil THEIR needs, ALLAH PROMISES TO FULFUL OURS! Our need of shifa', our need of successful career, our need of successful marriage, our need of righteous offsprings etc. So why not achieve that ambition by doing this simple task of helping those in need? Why not visit the sick whether they are family members or not? Why not set up a regular charity to aid those who are most in need even if it's £1.00 a month. Make it regular even if it's small and again we Know that Allah loves regular and consistent good deeds even if they're small. Why not visit the old and sometimes help do their cooking for them or carry their groceries? The possibilities are endless. This is not going to break the bank or take too much of our time. This is a selfish act as we are truly fulfilling our needs by helping our brothers and sisters. Allah didn't stop there and He continued to bargain with us saying "..Whoever brought his Muslim brother out of discomfort, Allah will bring him out of discomfort on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever screened a Muslim, Allah will screen him on The Day of Resurrection"
Not only will Allah fulfil our needs here in Dunay, He promises that He will guarantee us safety on Yawmal Qiyyama, a Day like NO OTHER. A day where we even forget we faced any problems at all. A day where we will think we only lived on this earth for half a day or a day at most. Subhanallah What are we waiting for?!

The Martyrs are 5.
The Prophet ﷺ (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The martyrs are five: the one who dies of plague, the one who dies of stomach illness, the one who drowns, the one who is crushed (by a collapsing structure), and the one who is martyred in the way of Allah." [Saheeh al Bukhari]
Shaykh Ibn Baz (may Allah have mercy on him) said :
And those who die in car overturns or car collisions are included among the Shuhada. For this is similar to being crushed, and it is hoped that they will attain martyrdom, but they are to be washed and prayed over.

When Parents die 💔, nothing is the same anymore. We can no longer be children, we will no longer feel carried away by their hugs, kisses and words of encouragement. It seems like life is getting harder because their protective love is no longer there. When parents are no longer with us, we are orphans and that is hard regardlss of age. Even though you created your family, the face of your parents is ingrained in you for eternity. All people, even if we are adults, have this living child inside us who wants to be protected all the time by his parents. Turning to their unconditional love whenever necesary, but when they are gone, that option is no longer possible...!!! 😭

Our souls were never made for this Dunya. No matter how much we try, that uneasiness, restlessness is still there in our souls. It belongs to Allaah ﷻ only but not this tiring Dunya.

"HEIGHT" OF AMBITION.
What is your ultimate goal? aspiration? ambition? objective? target? in life as a Muslim ? Is it to own:
1. A ten million dollar home?
2. Two million dollar vehicle?
3. Three million club house?
4. The most beautiful wife/ wives?
5. Gold, Silver, Children and more?
Read and find out what a humble companion of the Messenger (salallaahu alaihiwa sallam) who loved (the Messenger) had in mind as his final attainment. See what he wanted from him. Compare his ambition to yours, make a sincere comparison in sha Allah.
Rabi’ah ibn Ka’b (radiAllahuanhu) reported: I spent the night with the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam), and I brought water for him for his ablution and his needs.
The Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said to me, “Ask.”
I said, “I ask for your companionship in Paradise (Al -Jannah).”
The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said, “And anything else besides that?”
I said, “That's all.”
The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) said, “Then help me do it for you by increasing your prostrations.”

Now the story in Rabiah's own words:
"I was still quite young when the light of eeman shone through me and my heart opened to the teachings of Islam. When my eyes beheld the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) for the first time, I loved him with a love that possessed my entire being. I loved him to the exclusion of everyone else.
One day I said to myself:
'Woe to you, Rabi'ah. Why don't you put yourself completely in the service of the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam). Go and suggest this to him. If he is pleased with you, you would find happiness in being near him. You will be successful through love for him and you will have the good fortune of obtaining the good in this world and the good in the next.'
This I did hoping that he would accept me in his service. He did not dash my hopes. He was pleased that I should be his servant. From that day, I lived in the shadow of the noble Prophet (sallAllaahu alayhiwa sallam). I went with him wherever he went. I moved in his orbit whenever and wherever he turned. Whenever he cast a glance in my direction, I would leap to stand in his presence. Whenever he expressed a need, he would find me hurrying to fulfil it.
I would serve him throughout the day. When the day was over and he had prayed Salat al-Isha and retired to his home, I would think about leaving. But I would soon say to myself:
'Where would you go, Rabi'ah? Perhaps you may be required to do something for the Prophet during the night.' So I would remain seated at his door and would not leave the threshold of his house. The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) would spend part of his night engaged in Salah. I would hear him reciting the opening chapter of the Quran and he would continue reciting sometimes for a third or a half of the night. I would become tired and leave or my eyes would get the better of me and I would fall asleep.
It was the habit of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) that if someone did him a good turn, he loved to repay that person with something more excellent. He wanted to do something for me too in return for my service to him. So one day he came up to me and said: 'O Rabi'ah ibn Kab.' 'Labbayk ya rasulullah wa Sadark - At your command, O Messenger of Allah and may Allah grant you happiness,' I responded. 'Ask of me anything and I will give it to you.'
I thought a little and then said: 'Give me some time, O Messenger of Allah, to think about what I should ask of you. Then I will let you know.' He agreed.

I thought a little and then said: 'Give me some time, O Messenger of Allah, to think about what I should ask of you. Then I will let you know.' He agreed.
At that time, I was a young man and poor. I had neither family, nor wealth, nor place of abode. I used to shelter in the Suffah of the mosque with other poor Muslims like myself. People used to call us the "guests of Islam". Whenever any Muslim brought something in charity to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam), he would send it all to us. And if someone gave him a gift he would take some of it and leave the rest for us.
So, it occurred to me to ask the Prophet for some worldly good that would save me from poverty and make me like others who had wealth, wife and children. Soon, however, I said: 'May you perish Rabi'ah. The world is temporary and will pass away. You have your share of sustenance in it which Allah has guaranteed and which must come to you. The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) with his Lord and no request would be refused him. Request him therefore, to ask Allah to grant you something of the bounty of the hereafter.'
I felt pleased and satisfied with this thought. I went to the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) and he asked: 'What do you say, O Rabi'ah?' 'O Messenger of Allah,' I said, 'I ask you to beseech Allah The Most High on my behalf to make me your companion in Paradise.'
'Who has advised you this?' asked the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam)
'No by Allah,' I said, 'No one has advise me. But when you told me 'Ask of me anything and I will give to you,' I thought of asking you for something of the goodness of this world. But before long, I was guided to choose what is permanent and lasting against what is temporary and perishable. And so I have asked you to beseech Allah on my behalf that I may be your companion in Paradise.'
The Prophet remained silent for a long while and then asked: 'Any other request besides that, Rabi'ah?' 'No, O Messenger of Allah, Nothing can match what I have asked you.' 'Then, in that case, assist me for your sake by performing much prostrations to Allah.'
So I began to exert myself in worship in order to attain the good fortune of being with the Prophet in Paradise just as I had the good fortune of being in his service and being his companion in this world.
Not long afterwards, the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa called) asked me: 'Don't you want to get married, Rabi'ah?' 'I do not want anything to distract me from your service,' I replied. 'Moreover, I don't have anything to give as mahr (dowry) to a wife nor any place where I can accommodate a wife.'
The Prophet remained silent. When he saw me again he asked: 'Don't you want to get married, Rabi'ah?' I gave him the same reply as before. Left to myself again, I regretted what I had said and chided myself: 'Woe to you, Rabi'ah. By Allah, the Prophet knows better than you what is good for you in this world and the next and he also knows better than you what you possess. By Allah, if the Prophet, (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam), should ask me again to marry, I would reply positively.'
Before long, the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) asked me again: 'Don't you want to get married 'Rabi'ah?'
'Oh yes, Messenger of Allah,' I replied, 'but who will marry me when I am in the state you know.' 'Go to the family of so-and-so and say to them: the Prophet has instructed you to give your daughter in marriage to me.'
Timidly, I went to the family and said: 'The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam), has sent me to you to ask you to give your daughter in marriage to me.' 'Our daughter?' they asked, incredulously at first. 'Yes,' I replied.
'Welcome to the Messenger of Allah, and welcome to his messenger. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah shall only return with his mission fulfilled. 'So they made a marriage contract between me and her. I went back to the Prophet and reported:
'O Messenger of Allah. I have come from the best of homes. They believed me, they welcomed me, and they made a marriage contract between me and their daughter. But from where do I get the mahr for her?'

The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) then sent for Buraydah ibn al-Khasib, one of the leading persons in my tribe, the Banu Asiam, and said to him: 'O Buraydah, collect a nuwat's weight in gold for Rabi'ah.
This they did and the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) told me: 'Take this to them and say, this is the sadaq of your daughter.' I did so and they accepted it. They were pleased and said, This is much and good.' I went back to the Prophet and told him: 'I have never yet seen a people more generous than they. They were pleased with what I gave them in spite of its being little...Where can I get something for the walimah (marriage feast), O Prophet of Allah?'
The Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) Buraydah 'Collect the price of a ram for Rabi'ah.' They bought a big fat ram for me and then the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) told me: 'Go to Aishah (radiAllahuanhu) and tell her to give you whatever barley she has.'
Aishah gave me a bag with seven saas of barley and said: 'By Allah, we do not have any other food.' I set off with the ram and the barley to my wife's family. They said: 'We will prepare the barley but get your friends to prepare the ram for you.'
We slaughtered, skinned and cooked the ram. So we had bread and meat for the walimah. I invited the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) and he accepted my invitation.
The Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) then gave me a piece of land near Abu Bakr (radiAllahuanhu's). From then I became concerned with the dunya, with material things. I had a dispute with Abu Bakr over a palm tree.
'It is in my land,' I insisted. 'No, it is in my land,' Abu Bakr countered. We started to argue. Abu Bakr cursed me, but as soon as he had uttered the offending word. he felt sorry and said to me: 'Rabiah, say the same word to me so that it could be considered as qisas -just retaliation.' 'No by Allah, I shall not,' I said.
'In that case, replied Abu Bakr. 'I shall go the Messenger of Allah and complain to him about your refusal to retaliate against me measure for measure.'
He set off and I followed him. My tribe, the Banu Asiam, also set off behind me protesting indignantly: 'He's the one who cursed you first and then he goes off to the Prophet before you to complain about you!' I turned to them and said: 'Woe to you! Do you know who this is? This is As-Siddiq... and he is the respected elder of the Muslims. Go back before he turns around, sees you and thinks that you have come to help me against him. He would then be more incensed and go to the Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) in anger. The Prophet would get angry on his account. Then Allah would be angry on their account and Rabi'ah would be finished.' They turned back.
Abu Bakr (radiAllahuanhu) went to the Prophet to the Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) and related the incident as it had happened. The Prophet of Allah (sallallaahu alayhiwa sallam) raised his head and said to me:
'O Rabi'ah, what's wrong with you and as-Siddiq?' 'Messenger of Allah, he wanted me to say the same words to him as he had said to me and I did not.'
'Yes, don't say the same word to him as he had said to you. Instead say: 'May Allah forgive you Abu Bakr.' With tears in his eyes, Abu Bakr went away while saying: 'May Allah reward you with goodness for my sake, O Rabiah ibn Kab... 'May Allah reward you with goodness for my sake, O Rabiah ibn Kaab..."
