Aisha reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him said,

“Two cycles of prayer before the dawn prayer (Fajr) are better than the world and everything in it. They are both more beloved to me than the entire world.”

Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 725

Imām Bukhārī’s respect for hadīth.

Imām Bukhārī once went to see a man in order to hear a Ḥadīth.

The man’s horse had run away from him and stood at a distance.

To make the horse walk towards him he lifted his shirt and acted as if he had barley inside it and began to tempt the animal, this made the animal come back to him, allowing the man to catch it.

Imām Bukhārī asked the man if he really did have barley in his shirt, to which the reply was: “No, I only did it to bring the horse back.”

Imām Bukhārī said: “By Allāh, I will not narrate from you! How can I take a blessed hadīth of the Holy Prophet from a man who lies to animals!?”

certainly, Allah loves those who put their trust in Him. [Al imraan: 160]

When you walk with tawakkul in your heart and du'aa on your lips, Allah manifests miracles for you, because a prayer is never wasted and tawakkul brings His mercy.

When morals decline, livelihoods become difficult, challenges increase, and problems pile up, people need someone to help them, encourage them, and lift their spirits. One of the best ways to get closer to Allah is by helping others—making them happy, easing their troubles, paying off their debts, or providing them with food.

Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said:
"Whoever relieves a believer from one of the hardships of this world, Allah will relieve him from one of the hardships of the Day of Judgment. Whoever makes things easy for someone in difficulty, Allah will make things easy for him in this world and the Hereafter. Whoever covers a Muslim, Allah will cover him in this world and the Hereafter. Allah is in the aid of the slave as long as the slave is in the aid of his brother..."

Helping others shows a kind heart, a generous spirit, and a positive attitude. It can heal broken hearts, give hope to tired souls, and make life easier for those who are struggling.

How to Assess the State of Your Heart - Imām Ibn al-Qayyim

Imām Ibn al-Qayyim said, “Seek out your heart in three places:

[1] When listening to the Qur’ān,
[2] in the gatherings of [Allāh’s] remembrance [circles of knowledge], and
[3] when [alone] in privacy,

If you do not find it in these places, then ask Allāh to grant you a heart – for verily, you do not have one.”

See Al-Fawā’id [p. 479]

Action plan:

- Read the Qur’ān for at least 20 minutes daily.
- Attend at least one Islamic class per week.
- Engage in the remembrance of Allāh in private.
- Read the following supplications:

يَا مُقَلِّبَ الْقُلُوبِ ثَبِّتْ قَلْبِي عَلَى دِينِكَ

“O Turner of the hearts, affirm my heart upon Your religion.”

“O Allāh rectify my heart and my action”

“O Allāh, purify my heart from every evil.”

Curing ailments through charity

Sheikh Abdul Azeem Madani once shared a fascinating story about a family in Bangalore who relied on charity as a means to cure ailments within their family.

Whenever a family member fell ill, the head of the family would consult a doctor, describe the symptoms, and inquire about the estimated cost of treatment, including consultation fees, x-rays, scans, and other medical expenses.

After receiving the estimated amount, instead of proceeding with the treatment, he would donate that exact sum to charity. Remarkably, the ailment would then be cured without medical intervention.

The Prophet sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam said : "Treat your sick by means of charity.” (reference in comments)

Hatim al-Asam -may Allah have mercy on him- said:

I answer him: “I shall eat death ; I shall wear a shroud ; and I shall live in a grave .”

Ayyoob عليه السلام suffered for eighteen years [1] from different kinds of ailments and diseases in his body, that no part of his body was intact and healthy except for his heart and tongue, with which he remembered Allaah. Yet he remained patient and a Believer in Allaah’s Mercy.

His illness continued for so long and because of the repugnant smell, his people deserted him.

Then he said the Duaa. A Duaa which does not even take a quarter of a line to write:

أَنِّي مَسَّنِيَ الضُّرُّ

{"Indeed, adversity has touched me..."}
📚[Surah al-Anbiyaa (21): 83]

Did he say: “cure me”?

No, he did not say: “cure me”, out of shyness from His Lord!

Rather, he said:

{"…and you are the Most Merciful of all those who show mercy."}
📚[Surah al-Anbiyaa (21): 83]

You, O Allaah, are more merciful to me than I can ever be to myself!

Do you know why he did not say to Allaah: “heal me”? Because he entrusted his affair to Allaah: “O Allaah! My Maulaa (Protector)! If you know - and You are the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen - that if I stay sick is better for me, then let me be upon this sickness. But if You know that my well-being and good health is near, then indeed, distress has seized me.”

Allaahu Akbar! How simple the wordings but how great the meaning! For Allaah تعالى responded saying:

فَاسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُ فَكَشَفْنَا مَا بِهِ مِن ضُرٍّ

{So We answered his call, and We removed the distress that had afflicted him}
📚[Surah al-Anbiyaa (21): 84]

One of the most common complaints people have today is the absence of support, the harm caused by others, and the anxieties and evil whispers of the soul and the devil.

The Sunnah of reciting Surah Al-Ikhlas and the Mu’awwidhatayn (Al-Falaq and An-Nas), 3 times each, in the morning and evening comes to emphasize, day and night:

In Surah Al-Ikhlas, we are reminded that Allah is As-Samad (The Self-Sufficient, The Eternal Refuge), who never abandons us. If we lose human support, Allah’s support is endless and everlasting!

In Surah Al-Falaq, we are taught that people’s harm is under Allah’s control. So, seek refuge in Allah from their evil and trust that Allah is your Protector and your Safe Haven.

Then in Surah An-Nas, we are shown that anxiety and whispers come from the devils among both humans and jinn. With Allah, and by being close to Him, we gain strength, rise above these whispers, and repel all harm by the permission of our Lord ﷻ.

Ibn al-Jawzi (Rahimahullāh) mentions a proverb of the ancients:

وذكر الحكماء في أمثالهم قالوا :
قيل للذئب ما بالك تعدو أسرع من الكلب
فقال لأني أعدو لنفسي والكلب يعدو لصاحبه.

A wolf was asked: "How is it that you can run faster than a dog?"

The wolf said: "Because I run for my own sake, and the dog runs for the sake of its owner."

Meaning: If you do something for yourself, you will do it better. Nobody will do your work for you with the same level of dedication as you would.

Listen to others with an open heart and a sincere intention to understand, not with the aim of finding faults or seeking avenues for criticism. Verily, the truth is not confined to you or those who align with you—it may come from anyone, regardless of their background. Be sincere in your dealings and show compassion and mercy towards the youth (shabaab), for they are in need of guidance, wisdom, and a nurturing hand. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Whoever does not show mercy to our young or acknowledge the rights of our elders is not one of us.' (Sunan Abi Dawood, 4943). Let this be a reminder to cultivate sincerity and mercy in all interactions.
