Death Will taste Death

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "*On the Day of Resurrection Death will be brought forward in the shape of a black and white ram.* Then a call maker will call, 'O people of Paradise!' Thereupon they will stretch their necks and look carefully. The caller will say, 'Do you know this?' They will say, 'Yes, this is Death.' By then all of them will have seen it. Then it will be announced again, 'O people of Hell !' They will stretch their necks and look carefully. The caller will say, 'Do you know this?' They will say, 'Yes, this is Death.' And by then all of them will have seen it. Then it (that ram) will be slaughtered and the caller will say, *'O people of Paradise! Eternity for you and no death O people of Hell! Eternity for you and no death."'*

Then the Prophet, recited:-- 'And warn them of the Day of distress when the case has been decided, while (now) they are in a state of carelessness (i.e. the people of the world) and they do not believe.' (19.39)

From the signs that you love someone is that you supplicate to Allaah for them. For their guidance, well-being, forgiveness, and good end.

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: ❝The supplication of a Muslim for his (Muslim) brother in his absence will certainly be answered. Every time he makes a supplication for good for his brother, the Angel appointed for this particular task says: ‘Aameen! May it be for you, too’.❞

✉️The Advice on Istighfaar from the Qur’an

A man complained to al-Hasan al-Basri (rahimahullah) about a drought.
So he said to him: Pray to Allah for forgiveness
(do istighfar)

Another man complained to him of poverty.
So he said to him: Pray to Allaah to forgive you
(make istighfar)

Another man said to him: Pray to Allah to bless me with a child.
He said: Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.
(istighfar)

Another complained to him that his garden was dry.
He said to him: Pray to Allaah for forgiveness.

We asked him about that (as to why he gave the same advice for all situations that were presented to him)
And he (rahimahullah) replied: This is not my personal opinion. For Allah (azza wa jall) says:

"Ask forgiveness from your Lord, Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver;

• He will send rain to you in abundance.
• And give you increase in wealth
• and children,
• and bestow on you gardens
• and bestow on you rivers.

(Surah Nuh, 10-12)

[Tafsir al-Qurtubi (rahimahullah), 18, 301-302, Tafsir Surah Nuh 10-12]

Increase in seeking forgiveness (istighfaar) in your homes, on your dining tables/places, in your streets, in your markets, in your sittings and wherever you may be. For indeed, you do not know at what time Allah’s blessings will descend.

[al-Hasan al-Basri (rahimahullah), al-Bayhaqi (rahimahullah), Shu’b al-Imaan]

If you find yourself in confusion then adhere to seeking forgiveness (istighfar). Indeed, by seeking forgiveness, Allaah opens up the way for the slave.

[Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-‘Uthaymeen (rahimahullah), Sharh al-Kafeeya ash-Shafeeya, 3/189]

-

Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) said:

Indeed whenever I waiver and become indecisive in my mind about an issue, or about
something or
(get in a) a situation (which is problematic for me) then I ask forgiveness of Allaah the Most High (make istighfar) a thousand times or more, or less

until He opens my chest for me and solves the problem which I was confused about
(or found it difficult).

Even if at that time I was in a market place, or in a masjid or in a mountain pass or a school
(but) that does not prevent me from the remembrance (of Allaah) and asking for forgiveness until I achieve my objective.

[al-Uqoodad-Durriyyah min Manaaqib Shaykhul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah (rahimahullah) by Ibn ‘Abdul-Haadee (rahimahullah), pg. 5, Daar Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah Print]

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (rahimahullah) said:

Two things illuminate the heart:

• Asking for forgiveness (from Allah).

• Remembrance (Dhikr) of Allah.

Salat at Duha

It’s a voluntary prayer prayed after 10-15 mins after sunrise before 10 mins of duhr

The best time for Duha prayer

“It is better to pray Duha prayer after the sun’s heat has become intense, because the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: ‘It is preferable to offer Duha prayer when the sun’s heat has become so intense that even the young of the camels feel it.’” Narrated by Muslim, 748 (Ibn Baz: Majmu’ Fatawa, 11/395)

Prophet ﷺ said : “In the morning a charity is due from every joint of one of you. Every Tasbihah is a charity, every Tahmidah is a charity, every Tahlilah is a charity, every Takbirah is a charity, enjoining what is good is a charity, forbidding what is evil is a charity, and two Rak`ahs offered in the forenoon (Duha) will suffice for that .” (Narrated by Muslim, 1181)

The Struggle Within: The Three Types of Hearts!

1- A SOUND [HEALTHY] HEART: A heart devoted to Allāh alone. It:

❖ Loves, hopes, and relies on Allāh.

❖ Forgives others for His sake.

❖ Controls anger and desires for Him.

❖ Shows humility and kindness to all.

---------------------------------

2- A DEAD HEART: A heart enslaved to desires. It:

❖ Seeks only self-pleasure.

❖ A slave of its own desires.

❖ Chases wealth, even through ḥarām means.

❖ Lacks faith and sincerity.

---------------------------------

3- A SICK HEART: A heart torn between truth and desires. It:

❖ Loves Allāh but also clings to worldly temptations.

❖ Has sincerity but at the same time, also loves the desires and prefers them.

📖 Lagāthatul Lahfān by Ibn Al-Qayyim

---------------------------------

Action Plan: Read the following supplication:

اللَّهُمَّ طَهِّرْ قَلْبِي مِنْ كُلِّ سُوءٍ

(Allāhumma ṭahhir qalbī min kulli sūʾ.)

“O Allāh, purify my heart from every evil.”

Burning Embers

The Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

"There shall come upon the people a time in which the one who is patient upon his religion will be like the one holding onto a burning ember."

[Jami at-Tirmidhi 2260, Graded Hasan]

It was narrated that Abu Umayyah Sha'bani (rahimahullah) said:

I came to Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) and asked: "How do you understand this Verse?"

He (radiyAllahu ‘anhu) asked: "Which verse?"

I said: "'O you who believe! Take care of your own selves. If you follow the (right) guidance, no hurt can come to you from those who are in error.' (5:105)?"

He (radiyAllahu ’anhu) said: "You have asked one who knows about it.

I asked the Messenger of Allah (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) about it and he (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said:

'Enjoin good upon one another and forbid one another to do evil, but if you see overwhelming stinginess, desires being followed, this world being preferred (to the Hereafter), every person with an opinion feeling proud of it, and you realize that you have no power to deal with it, then you have to mind your own business (you should be worried about yourself in particular) and leave the common folk to their own devices.

After you will come days of patience, during which patience will be like grasping a burning ember, and one who does good deeds will have a reward like that of fifty men doing the same deed.’

[Sunan Ibn Majah 4014, Graded Hasan]

It was said: "O Messenger of Allah! The reward of fifty men among us, or among them?"

He (sallAllahu ‘alayhi wa sallam) said: "No! Rather the reward of fifty men among you (sahabah)."

Rushing In Recitation Of Qurʾān Is Blameworthy

Prophet Muḥammad Ṣallallāhu-ʿAlaihi Wa Sallam said:

سيخرج أقوام من أمتي يشربون القرآن كشربهم اللبن

“There will emerge groups of people from my Ummah who will drink Qurʾān like they drink milk (i.e they would recite Qurʾān without pondering upon its meaning and rulings).”

The waiting of Yusuf in the darkness of prison before being set free.

The waiting of Ayyub suffering illness for years before being restored of health.

The waiting of Nuh tirelessly calling people to the truth over a lifetime.

The waiting of Musa in the Midian for years before receiving the prophethood.

Their waiting wasn’t just a passage of time, it was sabr in forms of trust, obedience, hope & true reliance on Allah.

When the wait ends, we see the trials transformed into blessings. 🤍

The greatest affliction that has a high ability to destroy the ambitions and hopes of anyone in the world is procrastination. If you gather a hundred people and ask them why they haven't achieved many of the things they wished to accomplish, you will find that more than ninety of them will answer: "Because I kept postponing starting to achieve them." Even those who actually began, you will find they stopped, and then delayed trying again. So you will find procrastination in all situations. The same thing can be found in the Quran!

Although Allah says in the Quran says:
“And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah. Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him].”
[Al-Imran: 159]

meaning if you have the intention to do something, proceed with it, relying on Allah!

Many of us delay beginning the step of memorizing the Quran for reasons that are mostly, if not entirely, like the web of a spider!

Your Protection Is in Accordance with Your Piety: Whoever Is With Allah, Allah Will Be With Him!

Shaykh Muhammad Ramzan Al-Hajiri حفظه الله

The Qur’an gives us many cases of people who act based on their desires or what they feel and want in the moment.

The brothers of Yusuf عليه السلام acted on their envy.

The wife of the Aziz acted on her lusts.

The women of Egypt acted on their haughtiness and spread gossip.

The leaders of Quraish and Bani Israel acted on their arrogance.

The men of the garden acted on their greed and refused to share their fruits with the poor.

Shaytan acted on his envy and continues to be too arrogant to seek forgiveness from Allah.

They all share one thing in common: they act from a place of desire. What they do rests upon what they *feel* like doing or what feels good, even if it is wrong.

They treat people based on how they feel and what they want. They lack character, consistency, and a sense of self that is rooted in their relationship with Allah.

And the Qur’an gives us many cases of people who restrain themselves even when it’s difficult for the sake of Allah.

Yusuf عليه السلام refuses to acquiesce to the wife of the Aziz regardless of desire. He refuses to seek revenge toward his brothers regardless of their betrayal. He refuses to respond to his brothers’ hurtful comments regardless of his pain.

Yaqub عليه السلام forgives his sons regardless of his grief because of their deceitful scheming.

Musa عليه السلام chooses to face Firawn regardless of his fear.

The Prophet ﷺ continued to preach and prayed for Quraish regardless of the sting of rejection and betrayal from his own people.

All these people share one thing in common: they act based on their values. Based on what would please Allah. Values are eternal and feelings are fleeting, so they act based on those eternal truths and take them as a guiding compass.

It takes practice and you won’t always get it right. But clinging to your values will guide you to recognize that you made a mistake and immediately seek to rectify it for Allah. That’s what separated Adam عليه السلام and Shaytan.
