Imăm Al-Shaff'i, may Allah have mercy on him, said,

"The example of brotherhood for the sake of Allaah is like that of the hand and the eye—if the eye weeps, the hand wipes away its tears, and if the hand is in pain, the eye weeps for it. If you have a friend who helps you in obedience to Allaah, then hold fast to him, for taking someone as a friend is difficult and parting with them is easy."

Wahb ibn Munabbih رحمه الله stated:

"A gathering in which knowledge is discussed is more beloved to me than its equivalent spent in prayer. Perhaps one in the gathering may hear something that will benefit them for a year or the rest of their life."

Sunan ad-Dārimi, no. 334, its chain of narration is Sahīh

Staying Up for That Which Holds No Benefit

Shaykh Fayṣal al-Ḥāshidī (حفظه الله) said:

Beware of staying up at night for that which brings no benefit—for it steals the hours of obedience, weakens resolve, and slowly kills the heart.

How many spend their nights glued to screens, only for Fajr to be called while they remain in a heedless slumber—burdened by sin, and blinded by drowsiness!

Will you trade the breaths of the last third of the night, and the light of Fajr, for hours of distraction and laziness? Never!

This is how a servant is forsaken—and he doesn’t even realise it.

Be Sincere, Be Truthful and Do Not Fear the Blame of the Blamers.....

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said:

“Whoever seeks the Pleasure of Allāh while angering the people will have Allāh pleased with him, who shall make the people pleased with him [anyway].

Whoever seeks to please the people while angering Allāh will have Allāh angry with him, who shall make the people angry with him [anyway].”

Ibn Mas'ud said:

“A time will come upon you when if one of you were to find death being sold for a price, he would buy it. And a time will come upon you when a man will be envied for his light burden (i.e., lack of responsibilities or possessions), just as he is envied today for his abundance of wealth and children.”

The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ:

"The happiness of the son of Adam depends on his being content with what Allāh has decreed for him,

and the misery of the son of Adam results from his failure to pray istikharah, and the misery of the son of Adam results from his discontent with what Allāh has decreed for him."

"The Salaf رحمهم الله used to (pray) istikharah even before they took (someone as) a companion (friend)!"

💎[Fitnah is Painful & Exhausting; The Wise & Eloquent Counsel of ʿAlī in Times of Tribulation—Especially Pertinent in an Age of Social Media]

🖊️Bukhari reports in Al Adab Al Mufrad in the chapter on Al ‘Ayyāb (The One Who Searches for & Spreads Problems & Faults)

‘Alī Ibn Abi Tālib - رضي الله عنه- said:

«لَا تَكُونُوا عُجُلًا مَذَايِيعَ بُذَرًا، فَإِنَّ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ بَلَاءً مُبَرِّحًا مُـمَلِّحًا، وَأُمُورًا مُتَمَاحِلَةً رُدُحًا»

“Do not be hasty, or people who spread everything they hear, or those who can’t keep a secret. For difficult and painful trials lie ahead of you—hardships that will harm and confuse, and long-lasting problems that will be heavy and exhausting.”

1️⃣ Uncommon phrases:

There are many uncommon words in this impactful and powerful advice:

“Do not be ʿujulan—those who are hasty and rush into matters without deliberation;
nor madhāyīʿa—those who constantly broadcast and spread everything they hear;
nor budharan—those who scatter secrets like one scatters seeds, unable to restrain their tongues.

For indeed, there lies ahead of you a balāʾ (tribulation) that is mubarriḥ—excruciating and severe—and mumalliḥ—piercing and bitter, leaving lasting scars. And also affairs that are mutamāḥilah—drawn out, entangled, and difficult to resolve— and ruḍḥ—weighty, overwhelming, and prolonged.”

2️⃣A Prohibition of Three Blameworthy Traits That Fan the Flames of Fitnah

1. ʿAjalah – Hastiness:
Do not be hasty in judgment or in transmitting speech. Haste in times of tribulation leads to regret and clouds one’s insight.

2. Ifshāʾ – Broadcasting faults:
Do not be madhāyīʿ, i.e., excessively talkative, spreading news—especially of people’s flaws or matters said in private gatherings.

3. Ishāʿat al-asrār – Disclosing secrets:
Do not be budharan—those who scatter what they’ve been entrusted with. Gatherings are to be held in trust, and betraying that trust is a betrayal of religious duty.

3️⃣ A Vivid Denoscription of Fitnah’s Effects

فَإِنَّ مِنْ وَرَائِكُمْ بَلَاءً مُبَرِّحًا مُـمَلِّحًا، وَأُمُورًا مُتَمَاحِلَةً رُدُحًا»

For indeed, there lies ahead of you a tribulation that is mubarriḥ—excruciating and severe—and mumalliḥ—piercing and bitter, leaving lasting scars. And also affairs that are mutamāḥilah—drawn out, entangled, and difficult to resolve— and ruḍḥ—weighty, overwhelming, and prolonged.”

Meaning: You will be afflicted with a tribulation that is intensely painful, wounding hearts and testing resolve.

4️⃣ Brief Essential Lessons to Be Drawn:

• Remain steadfast in times of fitnah.

• Speak only with knowledge, manners, and justice.

• Guard your tongue, protect the sanctity of gatherings, and beware of becoming a tool for opportunists or propagandists.

• Ask Allah for firmness and safety—for only he whom Allah guides will be saved.

_Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ood رضي الله عنه narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said,_

*“Perform Hajj and ‛Umrah consecutively/continuously. Verily, the succession between the two (Haj & Umrah) removes poverty and removes sins just as the bellows remove filth from iron, gold and silver. And a Hajj not mingled with sin has no reward except paradise.”*

Imam Al-Ghazali said:

"But beware of saying, ‘Allah forgives the sins of sinners, so I will sin, for He has no need for my deeds.’ This is a statement of truth intended for falsehood, and the one who says it is labeled as foolish, as stated in the hadith: ‘The fool is the one who follows his desires and places false hopes in Allah.’

Your statement is similar to someone who wishes to become a scholar in religious sciences but neglects studying and remains idle, saying: ‘Allah is capable of bestowing knowledge upon my heart as He did upon His prophets and chosen ones without effort or learning.’ Those with insight would laugh at such a person. How can you seek knowledge without striving for it, while Allah says:

‘And that there is not for man except that [good] for which he strives.’ (An-Najm: 39)”

The Messenger ﷺ said: "Indeed the grave is the first stage among the stages of the Hereafter. So if one is saved from it, then what comes after it is easier than it. And if one is not saved from it, then what comes after it is worse than it." And the Messenger of Allah said: "I have not seen any sight except that the grave is more horrible than it." — Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2308
