#If You See an Afflicted Person

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Whoever unexpectedly comes across a person suffering a calamity, and says,

‘Al-hamdu Lillahil-ladhi ‘afaani mim-mabtalaaka bihi, wa faddalani ‘ala katheerin mimman khalaqa tafdeela,’

will be kept safe from that calamity, no matter what it is."

Reference Sunan Ibn Majah 3892 Book 34,Hadith 66

The meaning of this Dua is: "Praise is to Allah Who has kept me safe from that which He has afflicted you with and preferred me over many of those whom He has created."

If you see anyone suffering any kind of trial, calamity or difficulty, recite this Dua. If you don’t know it in Arabic just say its meaning in whatever language you know. The point is to feel grateful to Allah (سبحانه و تعالى) for keeping you safe and well.

This Dua should be recited quietly to oneself, so that the distressed person does not hear it and feel saddened by it.
The Importance of Quality Over Quantity...

Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen -Rahimullaah- said:

“حسن العبادة أهم من كثرة العبادة”

‘Worship which is good is more important than a lot of worship.’

[Bloogh al-Murraam 3/524]
Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya
Ahmad ibn Hanbal said:

''From the lack of understanding of a man is to follow his religion from men.''

[Ibn al-Qayyim, 'Ilam al-Muwaqi'in, vol 2, p. 201]
"Verily, As-Salat (the prayer) prevents from Al-Fahesha (i.e. great sins of every kind, unlawful sexual intercourse, etc.) and Al-Munkar (i.e. disbelief, polytheism, and every kind of evil wicked deed, etc.) and the remembering (praising, etc.) of (you by) Allah (in front of the angels) is greater indeed (than your remembering (praising, etc.) Allah in prayers, etc.). And Allah knows what you do.”

(Surah al-Ankaboot 45).
Shaikh Ibn al-Uthaymeen said:

❝No matter how many good deeds you may have done… Don’t be amazed at your actions.
Verily! Your actions are but a few in comparison to… The rights of Allaah upon you.❞

[Sharh Riyaadh al-Saaliheen (1/575) of Shaikh Ibn al-
Uthaymeen]
Abū Hanīfah [رحمه الله] said:

❝It is Harām upon the one who does not know my evidence to give Fatāwā with my speech.❞

[I’lām al-Muwaqqi’īn, (2/309) | Translated By Abū Ruqayyah 'Abd us-Samad]
It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:
“O Nafi’! The blood is boiling in me, find me a cupper, but let it be someone gentle if you can, not an old man or a young boy. For I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘Cupping on an empty stomach is better, and in it there is healing and blessing, and it increases one’s intellect and memory. So have yourselves cupped for the blessing of Allah on Thursdays, and avoid cupping on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Have yourselves cupped on Mondays and Tuesdays, for that is the day on which Allah relieved Ayyub of Calamity, and He inflicted calamity upon him on a Wednesday, and leprosy and leucoderma only appear on Wednesdays, or on the night of Wednesday.”

12: Censure of Debating and Arguing
Debating, arguing and disputing are innovations which throw doubt into the heart, even if the person reaches the truth and the Sunnah[1].

NOTES
1. Allaah, the Most High says:

"None dispute about the signs of Allaah, except those who disbelieve." (Soorah Ghaafir 40:4)

At-Tirmidhee reports a hasan hadeeth from Abu Umaamah, who said: "Allaah's Messenger (saws) said, "A people never went astray after being upon guidance except through disputation." Then Allaah's Messenger (saws) recited this Ayah :

"This they set forth to you, only by way of argument. Nay, but they are a contentious people." (Soorah az-Zukhruf 43:58)

Al-Aajurree reports in ash-Sharee'ah (p.57) that a man came to al-Hasan (al-Basree) and said, "O Abu Sa'eed! Let me debate with you about the Religion." Al-Hasan replied, "As for me, I know my religion, If you have lost your Religion then go and look for it."

'Umar ibn 'Abdul-'Azeez, rahimahullaah, said, "He who allows his Religion to be open to disputing will frequently change over." See Jaami' Bayaanil 'Ilm (2/113)

🔸Knowledge Is Rizq From Allaah🔸

🎙Shaykh AbdulAziz bin Baz [رحمه الله] said:

🔷It is known that acquiring knowledge is from the best of provisions. It is exiting from the confinement of ignorance and its darkness to the vastness of knowledge and its light.

🔸Allaah [تعالى] said:

﴿وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا﴾‏

'And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make his matter easy for him.'

🔷Acquiring beneficial knowledge is from the greatest of success and ease; because the student of Sharia' knowledge acquires with his knowledge many types of goodness and means of salvation which cannot easily be acquired by the ignorant person.

Imaam Maalik said:

“Truly I am only a mortal: I make mistakes (sometimes) and I am correct (sometimes). Therefore, look into my opinions: all that agrees with the Book and the Sunnah, accept it; and all that does not agree with the Book and the Sunnah, ignore it.” [Ibn ‘Abdul Barr in Jaami’ Bayaan al-’Ilm, 2/32]
Complaining...

“He is not questioned about what He does, but they will be questioned” [Surat ul-Ambiyaa, 21:23]

Shaykh Saalih al-Fawzaan (hafidhahullaah) comments:

“Allaah is not questioned about what He does, because Allaah never does anything except for a wisdom. And the wisdom may be apparent or may be hidden to us. So we believe that Allaah never does anything in vain, but rather He does it due to a wisdom, whether it is apparent to us or not.”

[At-Ta’leeqaat ul-Mukhtasarah ‘alaa l-’Aqeedat it-Tahaawiyyah, p. 113 Asaheeha Translations]
Don't let your desires of the Dunyaah get the best of you. "Time" belongs to Allaah Al-Mumit. Utilize the time you have wisely. Before your time is up.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, “There are two blessings which many people waste: health and free time.”

TWO FACES

Abu Hurayrah (may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:

❞إِنَّ مِنْ شَرِّ النَّاسِ ذَا الْوَجْهَيْنِ الَّذِي يَأْتِي هَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ وَهَؤُلاَءِ بِوَجْهٍ❝

❝Among the worst of people is the one with two faces, he who comes with one face to these and another to those.❞

• Reported in Sahīh Muslim 2526
Shaykh Muḥammad Ibn Sāliḥ al-'Uthaymīn said: "From the means of protection from the trials and tribulations is (praying) the night prayer."

● [شرح صحيح البخاري ٥٠١/٩]
Imaam Shafi'ee :

"Pleasing everyone is an impossible aim. Rather focus on what will benefit you and stick to it."

[ Madaarij, v.2, p.223 ]
Ibn Umar reported: A man asked the Messenger of Allaah, peace and blessings be upon him, about the night prayer. The Prophet said,

“The night prayer is performed two by two. If you worry that dawn is approaching, then pray a single bowing as that will be your witr prayer.”
