*Forgotten Sunnah*

*To say Bismillah when we trip*

Abu Al-Malih narrated that a man said:
"I was riding behind the Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salim) and his mount stumbled.

I said: "May the Shaytan perish!"

The Prophet (sallahu alayhi wa salim) said:

"Do not say May the Shaytan perish," because when you say that he swells up so much that he becomes like a house and says,

" By my power."

Rather say say: (بسم الله) Bismillah
(In the name of Allah),

"for if you say that the Shaytan shrinks until he becomes like a fly."

[Ref: Collected by Abu Dawud (4982 ) and Ahmed (5/59) graded Sahih by Shaykh Abdul Muhsin Al-Abbadd (may Allah preserve him )]
Let’s be mindful how we treat others. Our words and physical behavior. Imagine hurting someone or your behavior towards them isn’t of good conduct, and they make dua against you.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

The supplications of three persons are never turned away: a fasting person until he breaks his fast, a just ruler, and the supplication of the oppressed which is raised by Allah above the clouds, the gates of heaven are opened for it, and the Lord says: By my might, I will help you in due time.

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

اتَّقُوا دَعْوَةَ الْمَظْلُومِ وَإِنْ كَانَ كَافِرًا فَإِنَّهُ لَيْسَ دُونَهَا حِجَابٌ

Beware of the supplication of the oppressed, even if he is an unbeliever, for there is no barrier between it and Allah.

The riding beasts of Jannah!

Upon the authority of Sulaimaan ibn Buraidah from his father who said: That a man asked the prophet – Sallallahu alaihi Was Salam – and said: “Are there horses in Jannah? So the prophet – Sallallahu Alaihi Was Salam said: “If Allah enters you into Jannah Then you not wish to be brought a Stallion made of red ruby that will fly with you wherever you wish, except that it will occur!” So (another) man asked “Oh Messenger of Allah! are there any Camels in Jannah? but he didnt respond to him with that which he said to his companion (ie the first questioner) He said: “If Allah enters you into Jannah then you will have whatever your soul desires and whatever delights your eye!”

(Collected by At Tirmidhi and declared ‘Hasan Li Ghairihi’ by Shaikh Albaani in ‘Saheeh Targheeb’ (3756)

Oh Allah enter us into Jannah and save us from your anger and the fire!

Why do you laugh excessively while the Matter Ahead Is Horrifying?

Once Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣri رحمه الله passed by a man who was laughing (excessively) and asked him, ❝O my nephew! Have you safely passed over the Sirât?❞

The man said, “No.”

Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣri رحمه الله then asked, ❝Have you received news that you will end up in Paradise or Hell?❞

The man said, “No.”

Al-Ḥasan al-Baṣri رحمه الله asked him, ❝Why do you laugh then, may Allâh save you, while the matter ahead is horrifying?❞

That man was never seen in such laughter until he died.*

* But he smiled to people, as this is a part of the Sunnah of the Prophet & for which the Muslim earns a charity (Refer to Al-Hasan Al-Basri, p. 89)

THE PROPHET(PEACE BE UPON HIM )SAID :
"The destruction of my Ummah will be upon the hands of YOUTHFUL Foolish ones.
[Sahih Bukhari, Book No 9,Hadith No 7058 ]
Ibn Al-Qayyim said:

“Allaah sometimes gives the earth permission to breathe, which is when major earthquakes happen; this makes people feel scared, so they repent, give up sins, pray to Allaah and feel regret [for their sins]. When there had been an earthquake, some of the Salaf said: your Lord is warning you. When Madeenah was struck by an earthquake, ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab (may Allaah be pleased with you) addressed the people and said: if there is another earthquake, I will not stay here with you.”
[“Miftah Dar al-Sa’ada”, 1/221].
Salman Al-Farsi said:

“When Allah intends the destruction of a slave (due to his evil nafs), He strips him of shame”.
[“Hilyat Al-Awliya”, 1/204]
Hudhayfah Ibn Al-Yamaan said

“My companions used to learn about the good, while I used to learn about the evil (from the Prophet)”. It was said to him, “What made you do such a thing?” He said, “Whoever learns the place where evil is will avoid it”
[“Kitaab-Al-‘Ilm”, 74].
Not everyone who claims to be Salafi is truly Salafi – Shaykh Salih bin Fowzan

Shaykh Saleh bin Fowzan stated:

Not everyone who claims to be Salafi is truly Salafi. Some individuals have made this claim but they are ignorant and they don’t know the Salafi Minhaj. Some individuals have made this claim but they have actually adopted the methodology of the Khawarij, and this is displayed in their spilling of blood and causing mischief throughout the earth. Others have made this claim but they are self-taught and they have not taken knowledge from the scholars, but rather, they have taken it from books and that which they have read. They depend on their memorization of texts without (true) understanding.

The Sound Of The Qur’aan

Al-Imam Ibn al-Qayyim [رحمه الله] said:

"The sound of the Qur’aan: soothes souls, gives them tranquillity and causes them to be calm…

The sound of music causes the souls to become instigated, excited and causes it unease and causes it to become disturbed and agitated."

The Messenger [ﷺ] said:

❝If you see those who praise you, throw dirt in their faces.❞

[Silsilah Ahadeeth As-Saheehah of Shaykh Al-Albaani, (No. 912) | Translated By Abbas Abu Yahya]

Alee Bin Zaid Al-Madkhalee says:

The twenty third advice: *The dislike of praising (someone) to their face*

And the reason for it being disliked is so that the one who is being spoken about does not become deceived by it and then feel arrogance, and that is an offense against him, and so that the one who is praising will not enter into anything of lying and bring about sin (upon himself).

And the proof for the dislike is what the two Sheikhs (Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim) have reported from the hadeeth of ‘Abdur-Rahmaan Bin Abee Bakrah from his father that a man praised a man in front of the Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam). So, the Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

*“Woe be to you, you have cut the neck of your companion”.*

Then he said:

*“If one of you is to definitely praise his brother then let him say: ‘I deem such and such (to be like that) and I do not praise anyone above Allah, Allah is his Reckoner’ – if he believes that he is like that.”* [2]

So, there is in this hadeeth a prohibition against the open praising (of a person) due to what it leads to in terms of harm which may beset both the one who is praising and the one who is being praised as I have already said, except that the Prophet (sallalahualaihi wa sallam) guided towards a substitute when a person wants to praise another person, as you have seen.

And in Saheeh Muslim from Miqdaad (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man began to praise ‘Uthmaan (may Allah be pleased with him) so Miqdaad proceeded (towards him) and went down on his knees and began to throw the gravel on his face. So, ‘Uthmaan (may Allah be pleased with him) said: ‘What’s the matter with you?’ So, he said: Indeed, the Messenger of Allah (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

*“When you see those who praise people (to their faces), then throw dirt in their faces.”* [3]

And in the two Saheehs of Al-Bukhaaree and Muslim from Abu Moosa Al-Ash’aree (may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam) heard a man praise a man and extol him in praise, so he said:

*‘You have destroyed or cut the back of the man.”* [4]

And indeed, some of the scholars have made an exception to the dislike of a man praising (another) man for a good action or a praiseworthy affair occurring from him so that it would incite in him a desire to do the likes of it (again), and as an exhortation for the people in taking it as an example to be followed in those things which are similar to it.

I say: So, whosoever has to praise his brother to his face for a correct purpose which has limited or diverse benefit, then it is upon him to beware of exaggerating in the praise and making it long-winded. And it is also upon him to use the method which the Prophet (sallalahu alaihi wa sallam) guided towards in the previous hadeeth.

Imaam Al-Baghawee said after mentioning the aforementioned hadeeth (of Miqdaad):

‘I say: And in totality, praise and commendation of a person (to their face) is disliked, for very rarely is the one who praises safe from a lie which he says whilst praising him, and very rarely is the one who is praised safe from the amazement (of himself) which enters him.’ [5]

When Allāh knows that a person does not want the truth, He misguides his heart.

[Liqá at al-Bab al-Muftúh, (No.73)]
Sh. Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān:

“If a person's 'Aqeedah has Shirk in it then ALL of his deeds are rejected, EVEN if he's sincere.”

● [الأجوبة ســ ٣٤]
When Bakr (rahimahullaah) used to see an old man, he would say:

"This (person) is better than me. He worshipped Allaah before me." And if he saw a youth, he would say: "This (person) is better than me. I have committed more sins than he has committed."

Pray Tahajjud if you are able to, as it will help strengthen your connection and relationship with Allah.

The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best prayer after the obligatory prayer is prayer at night.” Narrated by Muslim, 1163.

And he said: “You should pray qiyaam al-layl, for it is the custom of the righteous who came before you and it brings you closer to your Lord, and expiates sins and prevents misdeeds.”

Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 3549; classed as hasan by al-Albaani in Irwa’ al-Ghaleel, 452.

“The custom of the righteous” means it was their usual practise.

“It brings you closer to your Lord” means, it is an act of worship by means of which one may draw closer to Allaah.

“and prevents misdeeds” means, it prevents one from committing sin.
