Making dua in sujud.

Question:

Is there any difference in opinion regarding the permissibility of making dua in Sujud. If so, then is it enough to say subhana rabbiyal a'ala one time or should I say 3 or 10 times before making dua?

BaarakAllaahu Feekum

Zaynab El-Kateb:

It is from Sunnah to supplicate in sujud.

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "The closest that a person can be to his Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, is when he is prostrating, so increase in supplication then."

And you have to say at least once "subhan rabeya al a'ala" and better to say it 3 times and the more you say it the better.

Women praying in public

Question:

I live in germany when i'm outing prayer time comes upon me and i pray where ever possible is it permissible for women to do so as heard from sisters saying women shouldn't pray in malls public places as that might expose their shape.

Zaynab El-Kateb:

Yes, you can pray in public places and try to find a corner where you are not exposed. There is no ruling saying that we are not allowed to pray infront men, that's why the Scholars say that we should pray without covering our faces (in case a woman wears niqab), but if a non mahram man can see us then we pray covering our faces.

Above is the reply of the Scholars of Fatwa Committee stating that if men can see a woman (while she is praying) then she prays covering her face and hands.

‘I met with Shaykh Hamid Faqeeh once and I said to him: Salafiyoon are a rarity in Egypt, and you are a Salafi, so how did Salafeeyah come to you?’

He said: ‘I had graduated from the university of Cairo or Azhar, and while I was travelling back to my village carrying my university certificate I passed by a farm and I saw an old Shaykh sitting there and I gave him Salam, so he said to me what is that in your hands?’

I said: ‘A graduation certificate.’

Next to the Shaykh was the book ‘Kitab al-Tawheed’ with its explanation of ‘Fath al-Majeed’ the Shaykh stood up and walked off to take care of something and he was away for sometime. I picked up the book to read, then later on the Shaykh returned, I asked him about this book, and I told him that I was amazed by it. He began explaining the ‘Aqeedah of the Salaf to me. He said: ‘O my son it is upon you to spread Tawheed and the ‘Aqeedah of the Salaf, because indeed you did not learn that in the university from where you graduated.’

So from then on I began calling to the ‘Aqeedah of the Salaf, and this Shaykh was a farmer in that farm.’

Common Acts of Religious Excessiveness (Ghuluww): Overplanning an ‘Aqeeqah

Posted on June 13, 2012 by admin

In the Name of Allaah, the Most Merciful…

Allaah says, addressing the Jews and Christians with a stern admonition that Muslims are required to also heed and live by:

يا أهل الكتاب لا تغلوا في دينكم
“O people of the Book!  Do not go overboard in your religion!” [1]

His Messenger (may Allaah raise his rank and grant him peace) said:

إياكم والغلو فإنما أهلك من كان قبلكم الغلو
“Be warned against ghuluww (religious excessiveness), since that which destroyed the people who came before you was ghuluww!” [2]

To help fulfill this Prophetic order, this series of brotherly reminders highlights some everyday manifestations of religious excessiveness that Muslims may commonly fall into, so that we can be on guard against them and warn others of them.

Overplanning an ‘Aqeeqah

An ‘aqeeqah is when a Muslim father slaughters two sheep after being blessed with a newborn baby boy, or one sheep for a girl.  It is at least recommended, while some scholars consider it an obligation. [3]  It is best performed on the seventh day of the child’s life.

This Sunnah is accomplished when the sheep is slaughtered.  Muslims commonly prepare the slaughtered meat for a meal, with added salads, side dishes, deserts, etc. that they mistakenly call an ‘aqeeqah.  Remember – the ‘aqeeqah is the slaughtering, not what happens after that.

Because it is very common to have an entire meal from the ‘aqeeqahmeat prepared for a large number of guests, some people have begun to believe this is the only way an ‘aqeeqah is to be done.  As a result, you may find someone capable of offering a slaughter refraining from doing so because he can not afford the catering services, or some of the other costs associated with the hosting of a large invitation.

A Real Modern Manifestation of this Ghuluww

It is not that uncommon to find a man who has not performed an ‘aqeeqah for a number of his children, as he waits years for the chance to have some extra money by which he will plan a large gathering with a number of slaughtered sheep.  He has overburdened himself, preventing himself from completing a simple but important rite in his easy and practical Religion.

The Solution

If you are on a budget and have only enough money to purchase and slaughter a sheep (or two sheep), then simply perform the ‘aqeeqah (the slaughter), and keep the meat for your own family to eat from.  You can store the meat in a freezer, or give some of it to your neighbors and family.

Be realistic, live according to your financial level, and do not harm yourself or your family by unnecessarily overburdening yourself, financially or otherwise.

And Allaah knows best.

🔹A Tremendous Dua! Bismillahi Wal Hamdullillah Was Salaatu Was Salaamu ‘Alaa Rasoolillah
Indeed the meaningful duas of the Messenger – Sallallahu Alaihi Was Salam are many (and all of his supplications are meaningful) but the following is one many im sure will find relavant to our trying times Allahul Musta’aan
Abu Hurairah – Radhiyallahu anhu said:
From his (The Messenger of Allah – Sallallahu alaihi wa Salam) supplications was:
“Oh Allah! I seek refuge in you from an evil neighbour;
and from a wife that causes me to grow old before old age;
and from a son who will become a master over me;
and from wealth that becomes a punishment for me
and from a cunning friend whose gaze is upon me and whose heart is plotting and planning against me, such that if he sees something good, he buries it, and if he sees something bad he spreads it“
(The transliteration of which is: “Allahumma innee a’udhu bika min Jaaris Suu, wa min zawjin tushayyibunee qablal masheeb, wa min waladin yakoonu alaiyya rabban, wa min maalin yakoonu alaiyya ‘adhaaban, wa min khaleelin maakirin, ‘ainuhu taraanee, wa qalbuhu yar’aanee, in yaraa hasanatan dafanahaa, wa in yaraa sayyi’a’tan adhaa’ahaa“

💎 [ Reward of the one who died in a place other than his birthplace ] 💎

🔴 Upon the authority of 'Abdillaah bn 'Amr (radiyallaah 'anh) who said:

“A man died in Al-Madeenah, and he was one of those who were born in Al-Madeenah. The Prophet (ﷺ) offered the funeral prayer for him and said: “Would that he had died somewhere other than his birthplace.” They said: “Why is that, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “If a man dies somewhere other than his birthplace, a space will be measured for him in Paradise (as big as the distance) from the place where he was born to the place where he died.”

🌷 Narrated by an-Nasaa'ee (1832), Ibn Maajah (1614) and Ahmad (6656), also narrated in Shaeeh ul-Jaami' (1616) and Saheeh ut-Targheeb wa at-Tarheeb (3134)

🌹 Explanation of the Hadeeth: "Till the place where his journey ends. What is apparent is that he will be given this much from Paradise due to him dying as a stranger. It is also said that the intention is that this much will be expanded from his grave for him." (Explanation of Sunan of an-Nasaa'ee, 3/151)
SOME VIRTUES OF THE ASR PRAYER AND A WARNING AGAINST PERFORMING IT WHEN ITS TIME PERIOD ELAPSES WITHOUT A VALID SHARIA EXCUSE

Written by The Salafi Centre of Manchester on July 16, 2016. Posted in Salaah - Prayer, Scholars of Islam, Worship - 'Ibaadah'

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

The Prophet [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said, ‘’Whoever misses the Asr prayer [i.e. intentionally] until its time elapses, it is as if he has lost his family and his wealth’’. [Ref 1]

Shaikh Muhammad Baazmool [may Allaah preserve him] said: Why is the Asr prayer specifically mentioned and not the other prayers? The scholars say that perhaps the wisdom behind this is because the time of Asr is when the people are very busy in trade and roaming about in the markets. At present -سبحان الله – the time of Asr prayer is the hardest time for those engaged in professional occupations and the workers, for they return and relax in their houses and do not wake up until the time of Asr prayer elapses, so they are lackadaisical in this affair..

The Asr Prayer is great in the Sight of Allaah.  Allaah (The Blessed and Exalted) said:

[حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْوُسْطَىٰ وَقُومُوا لِلَّهِ قَانِتِينَ – Guard strictly (five obligatory) As-Salawat (the prayers) especially the Salaatul Wustaa (middle Salaah – the best prayer). And stand before Allah with obedience] [Ref 2]

The scholars say that the meaning of Salaatul Wustaa is the Asr prayer. It has been reported from the Messenger [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] that on the day of Al Ahzaab – the day of the battle of Al Khandaq when the Arab tribes gathered to fight the Muslims – he said: ”O Allaah! Fill their [i.e. the infidels] houses and graves with fire, as they busied us so much that we did not perform the middle Salat [(prayer)- i.e. Asr prayer] till the sun had set.’’ [Ref 3]

The Asr prayer also has other specific virtues. The scholars say that it is the time in which the angels of the night and the angels of the day get together- the angels who accompany or guard the children of Aadam. There are two time periods in which the angels gather – the angels of the day time get together at the time of Fajr and accompany the children of Aadam from Fajr to Asr. And at Asr time, the angels of the night take over and accompany the children of Aadam from Maghrib to Ishaa, and at Fajr they change shifts. The proof of this is the hadeeth reported by Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allaah [sallal-laahu-alayhi-wasallam] said: ‘’Angels come to you in succession by night and day, and all of them get together at the time of Fajr and Asr prayers. Those who have passed the night with you [or stayed with you] ascend [to the heaven] and Allaah asks them, though He knows everything about you, ‘’In what state did you leave my slaves?’’ The angels reply: ‘’When we left them, they were offering Salat (prayer) and when we reached them, they were offering Salat.’’ [Ref 4]

Allaah [Glorified Be He and Free is He from all imperfections] said about the Fajr prayer:

[وَقُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ ۖ إِنَّ قُرْآنَ الْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُودًا   – And recite the Qur’an in the early dawn (i.e. the morning prayer). Verily, the recitation of the Qur’an in the early dawn is ever witnessed (attended by the angels in charge of mankind of the day and the night). [Ref 5]

The scholars say that the reason behind this is because it (i.e. Fajr time) is the time in which the angels of the night and the angels of the daytime get together and likewise at the time of Asr Salaah, for they are two time periods in which the angels change shifts in order to accompany the children of Aadam. Therefore, a Muslim should be eager to perform the Asr prayer at its correct time and if he is preoccupied (i.e. without a valid shariah excuse) until its time elapses, then it is as if he has lost all his family and wealth. [The End]
