CONCERNING FASTING THE 13th 14th 15th- WHITE DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH

Shaykh Ibn Baaz
It is not permissible to fast on the thirteenth of Dhul Hijjah, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) forbade fasting on the Days of Tashriq saying:
"These days are days of eating, drinking, and remembrance of Allah (Glorified and Exalted be He)."

Fasting on the Days of Tashriq is only permissible for those who are unable to offer Hady (sacrificial animal offered by pilgrims) if they are observing Tamattu Hajj (Umrah during the months of Hajj followed by Hajj in the same year with a break in between) or Qiran Hajj (combining Hajj and Umrah without a break in between) according to what Al-Bukhari (may Allah confer mercy upon him) related on the authority of A'ishah and Ibn `Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that they said:
"No one is permitted to fast on the Days of Tashriq except a person who cannot find (or afford) Hady."

However, it is permissible for her to fast on the fourteenth and fifteenth if she can. It is better to fast on the sixteenth or any other day of Dhul-Hijjah in order to complete the three days. This is because the Prophet (peace be upon him) advised a group of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to fast on three days of every month, and this was not restricted to the White Days, but it is better to fast them on the White Days. May Allah grant us success.

🍂 If you see yourself deteriorate... 🍂

🎓Shaykh ’Uthaimeen (rahimahullaah) said:

“If you see yourself relapse/deteriorate, pick yourself up by repenting and seeking Allaah’s Forgiveness and by asking Him to keep you firm, and don’t become careless, and neither say, “In sha Allaah, my eemaan will become stronger,” [without doing anything about it], instead from right now—from the moment you feel that you are ill—you must implement the cure.”

📚(Tafseer Surah an-Nisaa, vol. 2, p. 53.)
"And they carry your loads to a land you could not have reached except with difficulty to yourselves. Indeed, your Lord is Kind and Merciful."

(Suratul Na'hl: 7)

Ibnul Qayyim Rahimahullah said:

This is the condition of moving in the Dunya from land to (another) land, so (imagine) how moving from the Dunya to the hereafter is ?

-Question:

| Some presentations are established to show the wounds of the Muslims in Palestine and other places, and they contain pictures of the wounded and those killed, and sometimes they are presented by means of video, and the reason for that is to encourage the Muslims to give charitable donations to their brothers. So is this act permissible?

-Answer:

| This act is not appropriate. It is not permissible to establish pictures for the injured. However, the Muslims should be called to give charity to their brothers, and they should be informed that their brothers are in bad circumstances, and that bad things are happening to them from the doings of the Jews, without them being shown pictures and pictures of the wounded people. This is because this contains the matter of utilizing picture making, and it also contains undertaking a burden that Allaah, the Most High, did not command. It also contains weakening the strength of the Muslims, because when you present before the people pictures of Muslims that have been mutilated, or with their body parts cut off, then this is what frightens the Muslims and makes the Muslims afraid of the deeds of the enemies. And what is obligatory is that the Muslims do not show weakness, and that they do not show the calamities, and they do not show these matters. Rather, they should conceal those matters so that they do not weaken the strength of the Muslims.

Do not answer questions without quoting a scholar!

Shaykh Muhammad Naasir al-Albaanee - May Allah have mercy on hom - said:

"An unlearned [individual] who answers questions cannot only say 'it is allowed' or 'it is not allowed', rather he must mention the scholar who says it."

Ḥadīth:

The greatest days with Allāh are the Day of Naḥr (ʿEid) and the Day of Qarr (11 Dhul Ḥijjah).

[Ṣaḥīḥ Abū Dāwūd of Al-Albānī]

The days of Tashrīq: 11, 12, 13 Dhul-Ḥijjah are days of dhikr as in the ḥadīth, and some Salaf said duʿā is not rejected during them.

Therefore knowledge is not narrating a great deal, nor is it having an opinion on everything, rather it is a light which is implanted in the heart * by which the servant comes to understand the truth, employs it to differentiate between truth and falsehood, and is able to express that truth in brief, concise words.

*Ibn 'Abdu'l Barr #1398-1399 records that Imam Malik said, "Knowledge does not come about by a great deal of narration, instead it is a light that Allah implants in the hearts" and "Knowledge and wisdom are a light through which Allah guides whoever He wills, they do not come about by knowing many issues."

Advising in private: Is it a condition?!

Adee bin Haatim رضي الله عنه reported that a person delivered a sermon in the presence of the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying: ‘He who obeys Allaah and His Apostle, he in fact follows the right path, and he who disobeys both of them, he has gone astray.’ Upon this the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝What a bad speaker you are! (Rather) say: ‘He who disobeys Allaah and His Apostle’❞. [Saheeh Muslim (1890), Sunan Abu Dawood (1099, 4981) and Sunan al-Nasaaee (3281)]

❝What a bad speaker you are❞: The Prophet’s صلى الله عليه وسلم rebuke was because the man mentioned Allaah تعالى and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم in one pronoun (Yasihimaa), “disobeys”, which creates the notion that Allaah and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم are equivalent in rank, while there is absolutely no comparison between the Creator and the created.

1. Since the man gave a public talk, he was corrected publicly.
2. The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم corrected him straightaway and did not wait to advise him in private.
3. The correction had to be made in public so that those who were listening to the speaker would also benefit from this and that they are made aware of the mistake and that they too do not do the same.

Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said: ❝Thus if it (the innovation or the mistake) is done publicly, then its recompense must be done in public as well, in accordance with conceivable justice.❞[Majmoo
al-Fataawa (15/286)]

4. Advising the Muslims in that which will benefit them or repel some harm from them is not considered as backbiting:

Narrated Faatimah bint Qays: I mentioned to the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم that Muaawiyah ibn Abu Sufyaan and Jahm had sent proposals of marriage to me. Thereupon Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝As for Abu Jahm, he does not put down his staff from his shoulder (i.e. he is always travelling), and as for Muaawiyah, he is a poor man, having no property. Marry Usaamah ibn Zayd.❞I objected to him, but he صلى الله عليه وسلم again said: ❝Marry Usaamah.❞ So I married him. Allaah blessed our marriage and I was envied (by others). [Saheeh Muslim (3526, 3527, 3528)]

If advising the Muslims about what is good for them in their daily life is important, then advising them about what is beneficial for them regarding their Hereafter takes precedence.

Hadeeth: Open repentance for open mistakes.

Ataa reported from Muaadh bin Jabl that the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said: ❝(O people!) Keep your duty to Allaah and fear him as much as you can. And remember Allaah عز وجل near every stone and tree (i.e. remember Allaah a lot). And if you committed a sin, follow it up with repentance – a secret (mistake to be repented) secretly; and an open (mistake to be repented) publicly.❞

[Reported by Imaam Ahmad in “al-Zuhd” (26) and Tabaraanee in “al-Mu`jam al-Kabeer” (20/159/331). See al-Saheehah (3320). This Hadeeth also has supporting chain which takes it to the level of “Hasan li ghairihee”, see al-Saheehah (1475)]
Shaikh al-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said that Alee bin Abu Taalib رضي الله عنه said:

“Verily! The relationship between Sabr (patience) and Imaan (Faith) is like how a head is to the body – if the head is cut off, then what good is the body.” He (
Alee رضي الله عنه) then raised his voice and said: “Verily! (A person) has no Imaan if he has no Sabr.”

[Majmoo` al-Fataawa (10/40)]
Anas bin Malik narrated that the Messenger of Allaah said:

"Whoever prays Fajr in congregation, then sits remembering Allaah until the sun has risen, then he prays two Rak'ah, then for him is the reward like that of a Hajj and Umrah." He said: "The Messenger of Allaah said: 'Complete, complete, complete.'"

The Ruling on Permanent Hair Removal -Shaykh Ibn Baz

Questioner:

What is the ruling on women permanently removing hair such that it will not grow again, by means of cosmetic such as creams and herbs? Is that regarded as changing the creation of Allah ﷻ?

Shaykh ʿAbd al-Azīz bin ʿAbdullah bin Bāz:

There is no problem and sin in doing so It is not considered a form of changing [the creation of Allah ﷺ] that is forbidden. There is nothing wrong in permanently removing hair from the armpit or pubic region, rather it is sunnah to do so. The Prophet commanded that people shouldn’t pass forty days without removing the pubic and armpit hairs, trimming the nails and mustache. So If a man or woman removes hair from the armpit or pubic region using a permanent method that will prevent it growing back, there is nothing wrong with that and there is no sin in it.
