REMINDER - MONDAY

It was narrated that 'A’ishah (may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with her) said:

‎"كان النبي ﷺ يتحرَّى صوم الاثنين والخميس"

"The Prophet ﷺ was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays."

[Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 745; al-Nasa’i, 2361; Ibn Majah, 1739; classed as authentic by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib, 1044]

It was also narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allāh ﷻ be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said:

‎"تُعرض الأعمال يوم الاثنين والخميس ، فأحب أن يعرض عملي وأنا صائم"

"Deeds are shown (to Allāh ﷻ) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting."

[Reported by al-Tirmidhi, 747; classed as authentic by al-Albani in Sahih al-Targhib, 1041]

So do not forget to fast tomorrow if you are able to do so, and also try to remind others.

May Allāh ﷻ have mercy on you..Aameen
Usamah bin Zayd ~ reported that he heard the Prophet ~ say: "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and thrown in the (Hell) Fire, so that his intestines will come out, and he will go around like a donkey goes around a millstone. The people of the (Hell) Fire will gather around him and say: 'O so-and-so! What is wrong with you? Didn't you use to order us to do good deeds and forbid us to do bad deeds?' He will reply: 'Yes, I used to order you to do good deeds, but I did not do them myself, and I used to forbid you to do bad deeds, yet I used to do them myself.

Recorded by Al-Bukhari in the book, "Creation", (chapter 10), Muslim in the book, "Az-Zuhcf' (Hadith 51), and Ahmad in his Musnad (5/ 205, 206, 209).
Abu Hurayrah  reported that the Messenger of Allah azza wa jall said: "In the last days, men would come forth who would use the religion fraudulently, for worldly ends, and wear sheepskins in public to appear meek. Their tongues would be sweeter than sugar, but their hearts would be as the hearts of wolves. Allah will say: 'Are they trying to deceive me, or are they acting presumptuously towards me? I swear, by myself, that I shall send a trial upon those people, which would leave the intelligent man among them confounded.

Recorded by At-Tirmidhi in the book, "Az-Zuhd", (chapter 60).
Ibn al-‘Attaar, the student of al-Nawawi, said:

Our Shaykh (may Allaah have mercy on him) told me that he never spent any time, by night or by day, without being busy with knowledge, and even on the road he would be reading. He continued like this for six years, then he began to write books. He never ate during the day or the night, except a meal after ‘Isha’ prayer, and he drank only once, just before dawn. He said: I am afraid that my body may become hydrated and make me want to sleep.

Ibn ‘Aqeel al-Hanbali said:

It is not permissible for me to waste an hour of my life even when my tongue is not busy with memorizing or debating with others, or my eyes are not busy in reading. I would think even when I am resting or relaxing, so I would not get up without an idea to write down. I limit the time I spend eating as much as I can, to such an extent that I choose a few crumbs and follow it with water rather than bread, because bread takes more time to chew, so as to save my time for reading or writing down some useful ideas. The best thing for the wise man to save is time.

Salaah al-Ummah (4/169-175)
Umar ibn Al-Khattāb (ra) whom was given the gift of true inspiration, said: “The handholds of Islam will break one after the other when people who are ignorant about Jāhiliyyah [pre-Islamic age] emerge in Islam.” [Narrated by ibn Taymiyyah (ra) in Minhāj As-Sunnah 2/398 and 4/590]
How to get ONE MILLION good deeds written for you!

Something we can all use, I think:

The Messenger of Allah said:

"Whoever enters the marketplace* and says:

'There is none worthy of worship except Allah who has no partners, for Him is the Dominion, and for Him is all Praise, He brings life and He causes death, and He is Alive and does not die, in His Hand is all good, and He is able to do all things'

... then Allah will write one million good deeds for him, will wipe away one million of his bad deeds, will raise him one million levels, and will build a home for him in Paradise."

['Sahih al-Jami''; # 6231]

🔹The great physician and scholar Ibn Al-Qayyim (died 1350 CE) stated: “Health is one of the most precious favours Allah has bestowed upon His servants, the most generous of gifts, the most plentiful of His bounties. Rather, even more, health is the most precious of favours without exception, so it is fitting that whoever is granted a portion of this fortune that he cherishes it, preserves it and guards it against harm...” (Zaad al-Ma`aad, 4/196)

▫️Ibn Al-Qayyim also said: “Material illnesses arise from an increase of matter which comes to a point of excess in the body whereby it harms its natural functions – and these are the most common illnesses. They are caused by consuming more food before the previous meal has been properly digested; by eating in excess of the amount needed by the body; by consuming food which is of little nutritional value and is slow to digest; and by eating different foods which are complex in their composition. So when a person fills his belly with these foods and it becomes a habit, they cause him various diseases...” (At-Tibb An-Nabawī p.20; Medicine of the Prophet, ITS, p13.)

FASTING HAS THREE STAGES

Imām Ibn Qudāmah ‘al-Ḥanbalī رحمه الله تعالى said:
❝ Fasting has three stages: ❞
❝ General fasting, special fasting, special of the special fasting. ❞
1⃣❝ As for general fasting, it is: abstaining the stomach and private parts from carrying out desire. ❞

2⃣❝ As for special fasting: it is abstaining the eyes, the tongue, the hands, the feet, the hearing, the eyesight, and all other body parts/senses from sins. ❞

3⃣❝ As for the special of the special form of fasting: it is the fasting of the heart from wickedness, isolated thoughts away from Allāh تعالى {thinking about other than Allāh}, and abstaining the heart from everything except Allāh تعالى in its totality. ❞

Hanging verses of the Qur’an on walls

Question 434

What is the ruling of hanging the verses of the Qur’an on the walls as seen nowadays?

Answer:

The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta’  was asked a similar question. They answered –

Firstly,

Allah (Exalted be He) has revealed the Qur’an as admonition and a healing for the ills of the hearts, and as guidance and mercy for the believers, and also to be a proof against mankind, leaving no excuse for disbelief. The Qur’an is the source of light and insight to those whom Allah has opened their hearts to it, who recite it, worship Allah through it, contemplate its meanings, learn from it the laws of belief, acts of worship and Islamic dealings, and adhere to it in all affairs.

The Qur’an has not been revealed to be hung on walls as decoration, or to be used as amulets and periapts in homes, stores, etc. For protection from fire, theft and similar mistaken beliefs held by some common people, especially those who follow Bid‘ahs (innovations in religion), and they are many now.

Thus, if a person uses the Qur’an for the purposes it was revealed for, then they are acting on clear evidence from their Lord, following guidance, and have insight. On the other hand, if a person writes Ayahs on tapestries, for example, to be used as wall decorations or amulets to protect the household, the furniture, or any other belongings, then they have used the Qur’an, its Ayahs, or Surahs in a wrong way and have deviated from the Straight Path.

Moreover, they have introduced into the religion acts that were not permitted by either Allah or His Messenger (peace be upon him), in his words or actions. This was not practiced by the Rightly-Guided Caliphs, the rest of the Sahabah (Companions of the Prophet – may Allah be pleased with them), or the Imams of guidance during the first three Muslim generations, which the Prophet (peace be upon him) described as the best of all generations.

Furthermore, the owners of such tapestries may subject the Ayahs or Surahs to humiliation, for example, if they move to another house and pile them among other furniture, or throw them away if they become worn out. All of this is not permissible. Muslims must preserve the Qur’an and its Ayahs, safeguard its sanctity, and do not subject it to any possible desecration.
