'You Only Know Someone When You Have Travelled With Them'

Umar Ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه asked about a man who had given testimony, wanting to find out whether anyone could vouch for him.

A man said to him: "I will vouch for him, O' Ameer Al-Mu'mineen (Leader of the Believers)."

Umar asked: "Are you his neighbor?"

He said: "No."

Umar then asked: "Did you mix with him for a day and come to know his character?"

He said: "No."

Umar asked next: "Did you travel with him for traveling and being away from home reveal a man's true essence?"

He said: "No."

Umar said: "Perhaps you saw him in the mosque, standing, sitting and praying?"

He said: "Yes."

Umar then said: Go away, for YOU DO NOT KNOW HIM."

[Reported by Al-Bayhaqi and classed as Sahih by Al-Albani in Irwaa' Al-Ghaleel; 2637]
Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said: “Intention by itself without action is rewarded for, whilst action without intention is not rewarded for.”

Imām ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“Within the heart there is hardness which can only be softened with the remembrance of Allāh, may He be exalted. Therefore the servant [of Allāh] must treat the hardness of his heart with the remembrance of Allāh, may He be exalted.”

TN: For clarity, the literal word يذيبها means to liquify i.e. to become liquid or make something become liquid. The word soften is an antonym of hardened therefore we deem it more appropriate to use softened rather than melt or liquify.

Translation: Authentic Quotes
Abu Musa reported:
The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Verily, the parable of a good friend and a bad friend is only that of a seller of musk and a blacksmith. The seller of musk will give you some perfume, you will buy some, or you will notice a good smell. As for the blacksmith, he will burn your clothes or you will notice a bad smell.”

Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi (authenticity agreed upon) according to Al-Bukhari and Muslim...
When Imam al-Hasan al-Basri came across a group of people arguing, he would say:

"These ones have become tired of worship, speaking has become easy for them, and their Taqwa has diminished, and that is why they talk and argue so easily."

(Az-Zuhd of Imaam Ahmad, p. 272)
Ibn Mas’ood رضي الله عنه said,

“Know the people by their friends. The Muslim follows the Muslim and the faajir (disobedient one) accompanies the faajir.”

And he said,

“Verily a man only walks and accompanies one whom he loves and who is like him.”

He also said,

“Know the people by their friends, since a man only befriends one whom he admires and who is like himself.”

[Related by Ibn Battah in al-‘Ibaanatul-Kubraa, (vol.2, pages 476-477).]
Ask Allāh to guide you to goodness & to keep you away from sins.

Some of the Righteous Predecessors used to supplicate:

اللهم أعزني بطاعتك ولا تذلني بمعصيتك

"O Allāh, honour me with Your obedience, & do not humiliate me with Your disobedience."

Selfies betray modesty

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

If you’re a Muslim sister you should not be posting pictures of yourself on Facebook, etc for the world to see. That literally and utterly defeats the purpose of everything you supposedly stand for (modesty).

Brothers that lower their gaze in the streets should not have to deal with your shoving it in their faces

“And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.” [al-Aḥzāb 33:53]

[TO THE SELFIE SQUAD SISTERS]
The leader of the women in Jannah, Fatimah radi’Allahu anha, the daughter of the Prophet ﷺ, said:

”The best women are those who do not see the men and who are not seen by the men.”
[Ahkam-un-Nisa, p.219]

@“The hayaa (modesty) of our women faded, when the gheerah (jealousy) of our men died.”

Al-Fawzaan: No scholars of Jarh wa-Tadeel today, but perhaps there may be scholars of backbiting and tale-carrying present

Question: Some brothers describe a scholar as ‘the flag-bearer of Jarh wa-Ta’deel’, so, whosoever he criticizes is Majrooh (criticized) because he (i.e., the said scholar) does not criticize except with Daleel, and thus, following him in it (i.e., his Jarh) is necessary?

Reply by Shaikh Saleh ibn Fawzan al-Fawzaan (حفظه الله):

Jarh wa-Ta’deel is (done) in the isnad, and it is in the (science of) Ilm of Hadeeth. And its people (i.e., the scholars of Jarh wa-Ta’deel) have passed away. None of them remains today! There is no one whom we know to be from, ‘Ulama of Jarh wa-Ta’deel’.

But perhaps, there may be ‘Ulama of Gheebah (backbiting) and Nameemah (tale-carrying)’, these are present, – they are those who slander the people and backbite the people – THIS is NOT Jarh wa-Ta’deel!!

Jarh wa-Ta’deel is from the Ilm of isnaad (chain of Hadeeth narrators), and this (science) has its people (i.e., people who specialize in this field) but these (scholars of Jarh wa-Ta’deel) have past away, they are dead…

But there may be someone, who reads the books of Jarh wa-Ta’deel, and benefits from them, Yes!

But as for saying that he is from ‘the Ulama of Jarh wa-Ta’deel’ – this is a BIG statement, and it is not to be applied to someone, who just studies or reads the books (of Jarh wa-Ta’deel) – these are not from ‘Ulama of Jarh wa-Ta’deel’ – but it should be said, ‘Muttala’ (i.e., someone who is well-versed, learned in) the books of Jarh wa-Ta’deel, that’s all (what can be said).” [End]

May Allah reward our Shaikh, Al-Allamah Saleh ibn Fawzan al-Fawzaan, and protect hm.

“The value of a rich man is his wealth, while the value of a learned man is his knowledge.

The former is valued according to his wealth: if it ceases, so does his value; he is left valueless.

The value of a learned man does not decrease, it is always on the rise.”

Shaykh ul-Islaam Ibn Taymiyyah said:

“The strength of the believer lies in his heart, and his weakness is in his body and the hypocrite is the opposite of this.”

The Level Of Happiness Depends Upon The Depth Of A Person's Knowledge

Al-'Allāmah Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said,

"The greater the servant's knowledge the happier and more vast his heart will be with joy."

Explanation

If a person surpasses the essential knowledge and they continue to study and their knowledge increases about issues of creed, the Sharī'ah and the rulings and regulations, then they will be happy and their chest will expand [with joy].

He who refers to the stories of early scholars will look down upon himself, and would never behave arrogantly. He who knows Allāh would never show off, and he who sees how everything takes place by Allāh's Will; would never be jealous of anyone.

REWARDS OF LOOKING AFTER ORPHANS & WIDOWS

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said:

"I and the one who looks after an orphan will be like this in Paradise." showing his middle and index fingers and separating them.

Bukhari 5304

🔹🔹

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) said:

"The one who looks after a widow and a poor person is like a striver in the cause of Allah, or like the one who fasts all the day and stands (in prayer) all the night."

Tirmidhi 1969 | Sahih
Upon the authority of Abu Hurairah [رضي الله عنه] who said: The Messenger of Allah [ﷺ] said to me:

❝Say ‘Laa Haula Wa Laa Quwwataa Illaa Billaah’ [There is no might or power except with Allah] in abundance, for indeed it is from the treasures of Jannah.❞

[Collected By Bukhaari, (No. 6952) | At Tirmidhi, (No. 3601) Upon The Authority Of Abu Musaa Al Ash’aree [رضي الله عنه] | Translated By Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis]

Translators Note:

Meaning this is a treasure that will be preserved and rewarded to the servant in Jannah if he says it!

As far as its meaning is concerned then ‘Laa Haula’ meaning ‘Laa Tahweel’ which is to change from one affair to another. That is there is no ability to change and turn from disobediance and sin except with Allah. As for ‘Laa Quwwata’ then it literally means no power or might, that is one has no power or ability to carry out acts of obediance except with the aid of Allah. Thus the statement is one that bonds and connects the servant to his lord if it is understood.
The Prophet ﷺ said, “There is no supplication that a person can say that is better than:

‘O Allaah! I ask You for al-Mu’aafaah* in this world and the Hereafter.’” *(‘Mu’aafaah is for Allaah to suffice you against needing the people, and sufficing the people of having need of you. See Tuhfatul-Ahwadhi, 3512.)

Allaahumma inni as’alukal-Mu’aafaah fid-Dunyaa wal-Aakhirah

اَللَّهُمَّ إِنِّيْ أَسْأَلُكَ الْمُعَافَاةَ فِيْ الْدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ

_*DEAR PARENTS, PLEASE BE CAREFUL BETWEEN MAGHRIB AND ISHA*_

_AS dusk is Approaching, this knowledge will be very beneficial to every parent who wishes no harm to their household, In sha Allah_

_The prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said:_

_*”After the sun sets, Hold on to your kids, as the Devils are spreading at that time.*_
_*After an hour has gone past you can let them go,*_
_*But keep your doors closed while making Dhikr* (saying Bismillah), *as the Devil does not open a closed door*_
_*And close any water bottle, while making Dhikr and put the lid on any pan while making Dhikr, even if you cover them with anything and turn your lights off”*_

🌹 *SOURCE:* *
Al-Bukhari #3280 and Muslim #2012*

_The prophet Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم said:_

"Do not send your kids or animals (such as sheep, cattle or camels) after the sun sets, until the darkness of Isha falls, As the devils are being discharged between those times"

*

💡 *You might be asking yourself:*

*
“What could possibly be the reason behind this
*
*
What happens between Maghrib and Ishaa
*

_Well, what happens is that the Shaytaan (devils) start to look for a place to hide, as they move around earth in large numbers, Only Allah knows how many and they move in extremely fast speed, much faster than we can imagine._

_This of course poses a threat to some as they might get crushed by other devils. So they start looking for a place to hide._

_The Hadith is explaining to us what the devils might do in their search for a safe place to hide:_

_Some of them might enter a bottle and stay there until it’s safe,_
_Some might hide in a saucepan, or a bucket and some might enter the house of a human._

_A Shaytaan might hide behind a group of humans who are unaware of this._

_With those humans not making any Dhikr the Shaytaan is safe from the crushing power of other Shaytaan roaming the Earth like a hurricane._

_It is in the nature of Shaytaan to hide in dirty places, such as toilets, rubbish bins…etc._

_They might also get into a child who doesn’t know yet how to make Dhikr and stay inside that child until it’s safe to get out._

_The parents of that child might notice a sudden change of mood in their child’s behaviour._

_The parents might think that the child needs to be disciplined when the child might cry as he/she is bothered by the Shaytaan in his body._

_One of the biggest attractions to Shaytaan is nappies, as it’s dirty and it belongs to a child who doesn’t know yet how to make Tahseen (prevention from Devils by reading Qur'an and making Du'a)._

🌹 _Therefore we remind Muslims to be careful and not to let their doors open between Maghrib and Isha._

_They also should read Qur'an aloud around their children to prevent Shaytaan from seeking refuge in their tiny bodies._

_*May Allah protect us all from Shaytaan and prevent them from harming our children…*_

*آمــــــــــــــــــين يا رب العالمين*
