This worldly life is like an unchaste woman – Ibn al Qayyim
A Precious Gem: This Life of Deception
This worldly life is like an unchaste woman, who is not satisfied with one husband. So! be satisfied with whatever Allah grants you from this worldy life.
Walking thereon is like walking in a land that is filled with beasts, and water that teams with crocodiles. That which causes delight, turns to be the source of grief. Pain is found in the midst of pleasures, and delights are derived from its sorrows. As a bird sees the wheat, so does one’s insight perceive polytheism, while vain desires render its holder blind. Lusts were granted in abundance to humans, but those who believed in the unseen turned away from them! while those who follow their lusts were caused to regret.
The first category, are those, in which Allah says, which means, “They are on (true) guidance from their Lord, and they are the successful.” (AI-Baqarah, 2:5)
However, the other category, are those to whom Allah says which means, “(0 you disbelievers)! Eat and enjoy yourselves (in this worldly life) for a little while. Verily, you are the Mujrimun (polytheists, disbelievers, sinners, criminals, etc.).” (AI-Mursalat,77:46)
When the successful ones are aware of the reality of this worldly life being sure of the inferiority of its degree, they overcame their vain desires for the sake of the Hereafter. They have been awakened from their heedlessness to remember what their enemies took from them during their period of idleness. Whenever they perceive the distant journey they must undertake, they remember their aim, so it appears easy for them. Whenever life becomes bitter, they remember this verse, in which Allah says, which means, “This is your Day which you were promised”. (Al Anbiya’, 21:103)

The Wisdom in Reciting Surah al-‘Aalaa and al-Ghaashiyah in the Friday Prayer: Sheikh al-Fawzan
In his response to a question posed about surah al-‘Aalaa[87], sheikh Saalih al-Fawzaan mentioned the following point of benefit:
Allah legislated reciting surah al-‘Aalaa [87] along with surah al-Ghaashiyah [88] in the Friday prayer because these two surahs contain a reminder for the people and alert them to what lies ahead of them – that is, that they will be taken to account and recompensed for their deeds, and that they will be brought forth from the graves and raised up – in order that they might prepare themselves for it and not get carried away with this worldly life. All of this is so that they would be mindful of their hereafter and prepare for what lies ahead of them in that enduring life ahead, and so that they will not be distracted and busied by this current passing life.
This is all part of Allah’s favors towards us and towards mankind at large that He alerts us to what brings about good and rectification and forbids us from what will harm us. This comes from His mercy and goodness towards us – and all praise belongs to Him, and may Allah bestow His blessings and salutations upon our prophet, Muhammad, and upon his family and all of his companions.

The Hidden Gems of Fajr...
For many of us, waking up for Fajr can be difficult and burdensome however, there are some virtues that we fail to realise!
1) Oath by Fajr
As Muslims, we are not allowed to take oaths by anyone other than Allah,
But Allah, the Most Majestic can take an oath by anything he wishes.
In the beginning of Surah Fajr, the 89th Chapter of the Qur’an, Allah begins the Surah by swearing upon the dawn (Fajr)
"By the dawn"
Every oath made by Allah in the Qur’an emphasises its importance and likewise, Allah has emphasised the time of Fajr.
2) The two Sunan Rakahs of Fajr prayer are better than the entire world
In the Hadith of Aisha (May Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
“Two Rakahs of prayer before the Fajr (Fardh) prayer are better than the world and whatever is in it.
Our Prophet always prayed these two Rakahs Sunan prayers of Fajr and never missed them, including whilst travelling even though the concession was there to miss the Sunnah prayers.
3) Whoever prays the Fajr prayer comes under the protection of Allah
In the hadith reported by Jundub ibn Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him), the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
“He who performs the Fajr will be under the protection of Allah.”
For the one who offers the Fardh of Fajr prayer, Allah will protect them the whole day until the next Fajr prayer from harm.
4) The recitation of Qur’an at Fajr is witnessed
Allah says in the Qur’an,
"Establish prayer at the decline of the sun until the darkness of the night and recite the Qur’an at Fajr. Indeed, the recitation of Fajr is ever witnessed.”
Who is it witnessed by?
The Messenger of Allah صلى الله عليه وسلم recited this verse, and said,
“It is witnessed by the angels of the night and the day.”
Out of all the 5 obligatory prayers, our Prophet made the Fajr prayer the longest because he knew of this amazing virtue.
It was reported that he would recite between 60 to 100 verses just in the Fardh of Fajr prayer!
5) Remembering Allah after Fajr can earn you the reward of Hajj & Umrah
The Messenger of Allah, صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
“Whoever prays the morning prayer in congregation, then he sits remembering Allah until the sun rises and prays two Rakahs (Duha) will have a reward similar to the Hajj and Umrah pilgrimage.”
Lastly, great emphasis has been placed upon preserving the Fajr prayer along with the Asr prayer because it is a time when deeds are taken by angels to Allah, the Most High as our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
"A group of angels stay with you at night and (another group of) angels by daytime, and both groups gather at the time of the ‘Asr and Fajr prayers.
Then those angels who have stayed with you overnight, ascend and Allah asks them about you — and He knows everything about you. ‘In what state did you leave My slaves?’
The angels reply, ‘When we left them, they were praying, and when we reached them they were praying.’ ”
