*HADITH - THE ANT AND A PROPHET*
Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:
*Once there was a prophet who was resting under a tree when an ant bit him, so he ordered that his luggage be taken away and the ant’s dwelling burned with fire. Allah revealed to him: Was one ant not enough?*

Don’t you see that gold does not become pure unless it is first subjected to fire which melts it and removes its impurity? So trialling must occur. The evidence for that is reality and the revealed religion.
As for reality, then look at the trials that happened to the Prophet! There were tremendous trials in the beginning of the da’wah and at the end. What happened to him in Makkah? What happened to him in Tā’if? What happened to him in al Madīnah? Wasn’t his face split open and weren’t his cuspid teeth broken? The answer is of course that happened. So trialling must happen.
As for what is found in that regard in the revelation, then Allah (تبارك وتعالى) said:
﴿ وَكَذَٰلِكَ جَعَلْنَا لِكُلِّ نَبِيٍّ عَدُوًّا مِّنَ الْمُجْرِمِينَ ﴾
“And thus have We made for every prophet an enemy from amongst the criminals.” [al-Furqān: 31]
Do you think that your enemy will sleep without trying to finish you off? Never. However, read what comes after this sentence:
﴿ وَكَفَىٰ بِرَبِّكَ هَادِيًا وَنَصِيرًا ﴾
“But sufficient is your Lord as a guide and a helper.” [al-Furqān: 31]

Hadith on Yunus: Allah answers supplication of Prophet Jonah
Beware of being hasty.
How many calamities, difficulties and problems have afflicted those who are hasty! The days and nights are going and leaving behind the traces and consequences of hastiness!
How much corruption and destruction and unpraiseworthy consequence have occurred because of partisanship and the following of desires? We ask Allaah to keep us safe from that.

The Number of Major Sins
That which is correct - and Allāh knows best - is that the major sins are not fixed or limited to a specific number.
Ibn ‘Abbās (رضي الله عنه) was asked:
“How many major sins are there? Are they seven?”
He replied:
“They are closer to seven hundred than seven. However, there is no major sin after seeking forgiveness and it is not considered a minor sin if persistently committed.”*
Imām al-Dhahabī (رحمه الله) said:
“He [i.e. Ibn ‘Abbās] spoke the truth, as this Hadīth does not restrict the number of major sins [to this number].”**
* Tafsīr al-Tabarī (8/245). The chain of narration is Sahīh.
** Al-Kabā’īr (p. 89).

Imam Hasan al-Basri rahimahullaah said:
I swear by the One (i.e. Allaah) besides Whom none has the right to be worshipped, the Sunnah is the middle path between the extremist and the negligent one; therefore be patient upon it (i.e. the Sunnah) and may Allaah have mercy upon you. Indeed Ahlus Sunnah were the fewest people in the past and they will be the fewest in the future- those who neither agreed with the people of transgression and corruption in their transgression and corruption nor with the people of Bidah in their Bidah, [rather] they were patient upon the Sunnah until they met their Lord; therefore –by the will of Allaah- be like that.

It has been authentically reported that the Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) said: “Whoever says to his brother, ‘O kaafir!’ It returns to one of them.” He also said: “Anyone who called his brother ‘O kaafir!’ Or ‘O enemy of Allaah!’ And it was not correct, it would return back to him.”* i.e., whatever he said falls back on him.
This is a strong threat, warning the people of accusing others of disbelieving and being sinful, except when they have sure knowledge and understanding. This and other evidences are also a warning that one should be careful to guard his tongue, and only say, that which is good.

The Doors To The Hellfire
Ibnul-Qayyim, may Allaah have mercy upon him, said:
"The people enter the Hellfire by three doors:
1) The door of doubts which led to uncertainty in the religion of Allaah,
2) the door of lusts which led to preferring desires over obedience to Allaah,
3) and the door of anger which led to aggression against His creation.
The sources of every sin are 3 matters:
- Arrogance which caused shaytaan to behave the way he did,
- Greed which caused Aadam to be expelled from the garden,
- And envy which emboldened one of the sons of Aadam against his brother.
He who protects himself from these three matters will be protected from evil;
- Disbelief comes from arrogance,
- Disobedience comes from greed,
- And transgression and injustice come from envy.
Allaah in His wisdom made every inward and outward part of the son of Aadam as a machine which, if he used properly, will complete him. The eye is a device for seeing, the ears a device for hearing, the nose a device for smelling, the tongue a device for speaking, the private parts a device for marriage, the hands a device for power, the legs a device for walking, the heart a device for faith and knowledge, the soul a device for love, the mind a device for reflection and contemplation of worldly and religious consequences and to prefer what is worthy of preference and to neglect what is worthy of neglect.
The people who lose the most are those who are preoccupied with themselves instead of Allaah. Those who are preoccupied with other people are in even greater loss than them.
In the Sunan is the tradition of Abuu Sa’eed Al-Khudree which he attributed to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him:
إِذَا أَصْبَحَ ابْنُ آدَمَ فَإِنَّ الْأَعْضَاءَ كُلَّهَا تُكَفِّرُ اللِّسَانَ فَتَقُولُ اتَّقِ اللَّهَ فِينَا فَإِنَّمَا نَحْنُ بِكَ فَإِنْ اسْتَقَمْتَ اسْتَقَمْنَا وَإِنْ اعْوَجَجْتَ اعْوَجَجْنَا
'When the son of Aadam awakens in the morning, all of his body parts defer to the tongue and they say: Fear Allaah concerning us, for we are only a part of you. If you are straight then we are straight, and if you are crooked then we are crooked.'
[Sunan At-Tirmithee, No. 2407, Grade: Sahih]
Indeed, they only submit to the tongue as it is the post of the heart, its representative, and the junction between itself and the limbs. The statement that ‘we are only part of you’ means our salvation or destruction only lies with the tongue."

The wise person should rectify himself and keep away from sinful behavior by using his taqwā and righteous deeds. Therefore, if his body is not acting piously, he must reign it in and control it with his heart, because the actions of the limbs are purified by the purification of the heart.

The individual must not be amazed with himself and say “I have no need to seek knowledge! I’m educated! I have a doctorate degree! I have a master’s degree!” The people are in need of knowledge regardless of who they are.

When someone of apparent goodness advises us & we don't see things how they do (initially), let's just listen & ask Allah to show us the good of his advice. Say: "Thank you for the advice. I'll think about it carefully." Maybe its exactly what we need & we just can't see it yet.
