The Man who Killed 100 People vis-à-vis a Man of Knowledge

We all know the famous narration about that man from the Children of Israel who killed 99 people. This man went to get advice about repenting from his crimes from a man who was known to be an avid worshiper of Allaah.

The worshiper, who was so deep in his worship, could not fathom how Allaah would forgive such a mass murder, so he answered the killer of 99 people by telling him that there is no repentance for him. So the man, being used to killing, and getting such an answer, killed the avid worshiper to make the number 100.

Lessons so far:

1. Giving a verdict without knowledge can go as far as causing loss of life, not just ruining families or loss or religion, among others.

2. The man's devoutness to worshiping Allaah is not enough for him to give verdicts. Without knowledge, worship is not as valuable. Worshiping Allaah should be done with knowledge and proper insight.

3. One's acts of worship should not cause him to doubt that Allaah will forgive even the worst of sins. He should not let his acts of worship blind him to the fact that Allaah forgives any sin as long as one is alive, and any sin except Shirk if one dies with other sins, even major ones.

Moving on...

The killer of 100 went to a man of knowledge and asked him the same question about repentance. The man of knowledge told him that nobody is standing between him and his repentance to Allaah, and that he must migrate and abandon the bad town in which he was living and move to a good town instead.

More lessons:

4. One who is looking to change his life around should abandon evil places and evil people. The overall environment and the people have a major impact on an individual.

5. The man with knowledge gave the correct advice, indeed, it is not surprising to assume that the man of knowledge was also an avid worshiper of Allaah, and even if he was not as avid as the one without knowledge, the man of knowledge still has more fear of Allaah because he has that knowledge.

Moving on...

On the way, the killer of 100 died, and the angels of mercy disputed with the angels of torment about who should take his soul. Allaah sent an angel to settle the dispute and told them to measure the distance which the man travelled before dying, and that if he was closer to the good town, that the angels of mercy would take his soul. Allaah caused the landscape to change so that the distance between the man and the good town is shorter.

Final lessons:

6. Allaah will make a way out for you if your sincere, no matter how evil you think you are, no matter what evil actions you have done, if you feel really bad about those deeds and feel a darkness in your heart, that is because your heart had light in it to begin with, otherwise, you would not have such a great feeling of sorrow for your bad deeds. No matter how great are your evil deeds, Allaah is greater and will forgive you.

7. Never give up hope in Allaah's mercy and forgiveness.

May Allaah grant us wisdom and insight and keep us steadfast on His straight path.
Umm ar-Rubayyi’ bin Khuthaim was very worried about her son.

She rarely saw him sleep, for after the toils of the day, he would spend his nights worshipping Allaah.

"My son, will you not sleep?" Umm ar-Rubayyi’ pleaded with him one day.

"My mother, when it is night time, and when one fears that sudden death will overtake him (and this is the case for every human being), then it is befitting for him not to sleep."

Umm ar-Rubayyi’ soon became afraid when she noticed that her son cried a lot during the night. She feared that his tears were prompted by feelings of guilt for some wicked crime he committed.

"O my son," she said, "Perhaps you have killed someone?"

"Yes," he answered.

"Who is he?" she asked. "We will go to his family, and (hopefully) they will forgive you; surely they will pity you when they find out how much you cry every night."

"My mother, it is my own self [that I have killed through constant sinning (i.e. I have subjected to destruction and punishment in the Hereafter)]."

*INTELLIGENCE IS A GREAT TREASURE*

The Prophet ﷺ said:

*إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ مَكَارِمَ الأَخْلاقِ وَيَكْرَهُ سَفْسَافَهَا*

_"Indeed, Allāh loves the person of good character and dislikes the person of bad character."_ *

* Reported by al-Hākim (1/48) and others..

The love of a person of good character and the dislike of a person of bad character is the essence of wisdom. Intelligence is a great treasure: it makes exile pleasant and it negates poverty; there is no wealth better than it, and a person's religion can not be complete without intelligence.

al-Ḥāfiẓ Ibn Ḥibbān Raḥimahullāh said:

“If intelligence had two doors; one of them would be PATIENCE and other one would be DELIBERATION (i.e not being hasty).”

● [روضة العقلاء ٤٥]
The Prophetﷺ said:

“If the slave says: ‘Al-Hamdulillaahi Katheeran (All abundant praise is due to Allaah)’, Allaah the Almighty will say: ‘Record for My slave My mercy abundantly.’”

(Saheeh At-Targheeb 1578)
Some of the Salaf said,

❝Whoever fears Allāh, everything will fear him, and whoever does not #fear Allāh will fear everything.❞

Reminder☝🏻🚫

🔺 It was narrated from Umm Salamah (رضي الله عنها) that the Prophet (صلی الله عليه وسلم) said: “When you see the new moon of Dhul Hijjah, and one of you wants to offer a sacrifice, let him refrain from (removing anything) from his hair or nails.” Narrated by Muslim, 1977. According to another version: “Let him not remove anything of his hair or skin.”
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "Procrastination (delay) in repaying debts by a wealthy person is injustice."

Refrence: Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol. 3, Book 41, Hadith 585.

This is a beautiful reminder of our ummah’s strong connection and that when one body part hurts, so does the rest. Let us all make sincere dua for our brothers and sisters across the globe who are being oppressed and at the same time thank Allah for our safety and use this blessing as a reminder to increase in obedience.

everyone should make it a goal to memorize this dua today (if you haven’t already) and recite + reflect often:

Abdullah bin ‘Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Messenger of Allah صلى اللّٰه عليه وآله وسلم used to supplicate:

“اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وَتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، وَفُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، وَجَمِيعِ سَخَطِكَ”

“Allaahumma ‘innee a’oothu bika min zawaali ni’matika, wa tahawwuli ‘aafiyatika, wa fujaa’ati niqmatika, wa jamee’i sakhatik.

(O Allah! I seek refuge in You against the declining of Your Favours, passing of safety, the suddenness of Your punishment and all that which displeases You).”

Âbdullãh bin Úmar (رضي الله عنه) reports that the Messenger of Allâh ﷺ said:
*" The believer who mîxes with the people and shows pãtience over their hãrm is superior to the believer who does not mîx with the people and does not show pãtience over their hãrm."*

🚫 A Great Danger 🚫

Sh. Ṣāliḥ al-Fawzān Hafiẓahullāh mentioned the story of a man who read Bukhārī on his own and he came across the Ḥadeeth:

الحبة السوداء شفاء من كل داء

'Blackseed has cure for every illness.'

However he read الحبة السوداء (blackseed) as الحية السوداء (black snake), thus he went, bought a black snake, slaughtered it, ate it and afterwards died from its poisoning, so had he asked the scholars he would've saved himself,

Hence merely studying without returning to Ahlul-'Ilm (for its understanding) is a great danger so look to how many pretenders of knowledge have killed themselves (due to self-amazement).

IT IS SUNNAH TO FAST ON THE FIRST 9 DAYS OF DHUL HIJJAH

One of the Wives of the Prophet (ﷺ) said that:

"The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to fast on the first 9 days of Dhul Hijjah.."

📚: Abi Dawud 2437 | Sahih
The importance of stopping the evil when it appears
The importance of stopping the bidah when it appears
The importance of correcting the mistake when it appears

Imaam al-Awza
ee رحمه الله said:

"When a bid`ah (an act of innovation in religion) shows up and the scholars don't warn against it, it becomes a Sunnah*."

[Sharf as-haab al-Hadeeth (1/17)]

*i.e. it becomes a norm in the society and the people will accept it as truth and follow it.
REMINDER:

In India/pakistan, the month of Dhul Hijjah has begun Alhamdulillah.

It is sunnah to keep the fast in first 9 days (from 1st dhul hijjah to 9th dhul hijjah) specially on the 9th of dhul hijjah i.e. on the day of Arafat (31st July)

AND these 9 blessed days are one of the best times to make up the missed fasts of Ramadan so keep the fasts with that Intentions and in sha Allah you will get the double reward (the reward of obligatory fast as well as the reward of sunnah fast)

Strive hard and make the most of these days in sha Allah because deeds done on these days are more beloved to Our Lord سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى than any other days
REMINDER

People who began the month of Dhul Hijjah on 22nd July, Wednesday — Tomorrow, Thursday, 30th July is 9th of Dhul Hijjah for you guys i.e. it is the day of Arafah Alhamdullilah!

The Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) was asked about fasting on that day (9th Dhul Hijjah | The day of Arafah) and He (ﷺ) said: "It will expiate the sins of the previous and upcoming year." [Sahih Muslim 1162]

So KEEP THE FAST In Sha Allah and do not miss this great opportunity 💕

JazakumAllahu Khayran wa BarakAllahu Feekum !

🌺 Don't forget the two prerequisite before making Duaa.

1️⃣ To praise Allaah before starting the supplication.

2️⃣ Sending prayers and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ.

The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said: “When anyone of you makes Du
aa’a’, let him start by glorifying his Lord and praising Him, then let him send blessings upon the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, then let him pray for whatever he wants”
📚 [Sunan Abu Dawood (1481) and Tirmidhee (3477) and graded as “Saheeh” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

In another Hadeeth; Umar narrated that the Prophet ﷺ said: “Duaa’ is detained between the heavens and the earth and no part of it is taken up until you send blessings upon your Prophet ﷺ”
📚[Tirmidhee (486) and graded as “Hasan” by Shaikh al-Albaanee]

🌴🌴🌴

➡️ Some of the ways a person can start his Du
aa is by saying...

`Abdullaah bin Buraidah Al Aslami narrated from his father, who said: The Prophet ﷺ heard a man supplicating, and he was saying: "O Allaah, indeed, I ask you by my testifying that You are Allaah, there is none worthy of worship except You, the One, As-Samad, the one who does not beget, nor was begotten, and there is none who is like Him
(Allaahumma innee as’aluka bi annee ashhadu annaka antallaah, laa ilaaha illaa ant, al-aḥaduṣ-ṣamad, alladhee lam yalid wa lam yoolad, wa lam yakun lahu kufuwan aḥad).”

So he ﷺ said: ‘By the One in Whose Hand is my soul, he has asked Allaah by His Greatest Name, the one which if He is called upon by it, He responds, and when He is asked by it, He gives.’”
📚[Sunan Abu Dawood and Sunan al-Tirmidhee and it is Saheeh]

➡️ One can also add to it
اللهم لك الحمد حتى ترضى ولك الحمد إذا رضيت ولك الحمد بعد الرضا ولك الحمد على كل حال

➡️ As for sending prayers and blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, the best is to say the complete one which one says in the Tashahhud.

And Allaah is the One who grants success.
