Garlic, Honey & Apple Cider Vinegar (Sunnah style)

DISCLAIMER: This post is not advice. Always consult your doctor before taking. If you do, take at your own risk.

This is an excellent home remedy that you want to keep available at all times in your home. It's great as a preventative and for maintaining good health. There are some variations to this with the addition of other ingredients such as ginger, or cayenne pepper. The base mixture includes the three main ingredients of garlic, apple cider vinegar and honey. Each of these three ingredients have individual benefits on their own and in this mixture, a synergistic effect enhances the properties of each.

The apple cider vinegar must be unfiltered and the honey must be raw, unpasteurised (and preferably organic) honey for all the benefits to be realised. One of the main reasons honey is pasteurised is to speed up the packaging process (heating makes it flow much quicker) - so pretty much all honeys from supermarkets will be unsuitable.

This remedy is an immune stimulant, it lowers blood pressure as well as cholesterol (if you are someone who still believes in that hypothesis), it leads to fewer colds and infections, and is helpful in conditions such as gout, arthritis, and joint aches. It is also a good tonic for the digestive tract and benefits the skin, and is helpful in weight loss. In short, it is beneficial for a wide range of conditions as it is a general immune stimulant and enhancer. You can read the numerous articles on garlic, honey and vinegar elsewhere on this site.

Ingredients:
8 cloves of fresh garlic
1 cup (200ml) of unfiltered, unpasteurised organic apple cider vinegar
1 cup (200ml) of raw, unpasteurised honey
Small piece of ginger (this is optional but old ginger is best, not new ginger)

Instructions
Mix all the ingredients into a blender and mix at high speed for 45-60 seconds. Alternatively, you can put the garlic in first, blend well so it becomes fine - or you can use a garlic crusher instead - and then place in the blender, then mix in the honey and apple cider vinegar and blend for another 10-15 seconds seconds.

Then pour into a glass jar or container (sealable) and leave in the refrigerator for five days, with the occasional stir every day. After five days the mixture is ready.

Variations
There are other things that can be included. You can added a small amount of ginger (one or two inch length), you just put it in the blender with the garlic, and some cayenne pepper (one small to medium sized pepper) can also be added.

Dosage
The normal dosage is 2 tsp in a glass of water, daily, first thing in the morning. The mixture is very strong, and should not be taken directly.

The Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:

“Whomsoever from amongst you wakes up secure in his property, healthy in his body, and he has his food for the day, it is as if he were given the entire world.”

Saheeh al-Jāmi’ 6042 | Shaykh al-Albāni رحمه الله | Saheeh

Al-Mannāwi, [may Allāh bestow mercy upon him], said:

“The one for whom Allāh has combined the blessings of physical well-being, security wherever he may go, sufficient provisions for the day, and has kept his family safe, [then he] has been given all types of blessings from Allāh, which others may not posses in entirety. Thus he should not begin his day without giving thanks for [all] that which has been bestowed upon him, by utilising these blessings in obedience to the One Who bestowed them upon him, not in disobedience, and he should never cease to remember Him [Allāh, the Exalted].”

Wearing best clothes for Jumua and not stepping over the necks of people (creating distraction)

'Abd Allah b. 'Amr al-'As reported the Prophet (salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) as saying: Whoever washed himself on Friday and applies perfume of his wife if she has one, and wears good clothes and does not step over the necks of the people (in the masjid to sit in the front row) and does not indulge in idle talk during the sermon, that will atone (for his sins) between the two Fridays. But he who indulges in idle talk and steps over the necks of people (in the masjid), that (Friday) will be for him like the noon prayer.

Grade: Hasan, Sunan Abi Dawud 347
Using oil and perfume on Friday.
Narrated Salman-Al-Farsi [(may Allah be pleased with him)

The Prophet (salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) said, "Whoever takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself as much as he can, then uses his (hair) oil or perfumes himself with the scent of his house, then proceeds (for the Jumua prayer) and does not separate two persons sitting together (in the masjid), then prays as much as (Allah has) written for him and then remains silent while the Imam is delivering the Khutba, his sins in-between the present and the last Friday would be forgiven."
Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 883.
Perfume, only for brothers, sisters putting it on when going to masjid is Haram.

Abu Moosa al-Ash’ari said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who puts on perfume then passes by people so that they can smell her fragrance, is an adulteress.”

Zaynab al-Thaqafiyyah reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “If any one of you (women) goes out to the mosque, let her not touch any perfume.”

Abu Hurayrah said: the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “Any woman who has scented herself with bakhoor (incense), let her not attend ‘Ishaa’ prayers with us.”

Moosa ibn Yassaar said that a woman passed by Abu Hurayrah and her scent was overpowering. He said, “O female slave of al-Jabbaar, are you going to the mosque?” She said, “Yes,” He said, “And have you put on perfume because of that?” She said, “Yes.” He said, “Go back and wash yourself, for I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say: ‘If a woman comes out to the mosque and her fragrance is overpowering, Allaah will not accept any prayer from her until she goes home and washes herself.’”

Going out to the masjid with perfume, your salat will be invalid.

Note: is allowed praying in the house with perfume , perfume is only Haram when going out for you as a woman.
Coming early for Jumua

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah [ may Allah be pleased with him ] that: The Messenger of Allah(salalaahu Alaihi wasalam) said: "Whoever performs ghusl as from janabah on Friday, then comes (to the masjid), it is as if he sacrificed a camel. Then the one who comes in the second hour, it is as if he sacrificed a cow. Then the one who comes in the third hour, it is as if he sacrificed a ram. Then the one who comes in the fourth hour, it is as if he sacrificed a chicken. Then the one who comes in the fifth hour, it is as if he sacrificed an egg. Then when the imam comes out, the angels attend to listen to the khutbah."

Sahih, Sunan Nasai book 14, Hadith 25

Shaykh Muhammad ibn Saalih al-‘Uthaymeen was asked: When does the first hour of Friday begin?

He replied: The hours which were mentioned by the Prophet are five. So the time between sunrise and the imam’s arrival is divided into five parts, each of which may be equivalent to what we know as an hour (60 minutes), or it may be more or less, because time changes.

WHOSOEVER DENIES ANY OF THE NAMES AND ATTRIBUTES OF ALLAH!

By Sheikh-ul-Islam Muhammad bin Abdul-Wahhab rahimahullah

Chapter No: 40, Kitab At-Tauhid, The Book of Monotheism

Allah the Most Exalted said:

وَهُمۡ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ‌ۚ قُلۡ هُوَ رَبِّى لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ عَلَيۡهِ تَوَڪَّلۡتُ وَإِلَيۡهِ مَتَابِ

"... and they disbelieve in the Most Beneficent (Allah) Say: "He is my Lord! Laa ilaaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He)! In Him is my trust, and to Him will be my return with repentance." (13:30)

Narrated Ali

"You should preach to the people in a way that they can easily understand. Would you like that Allah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) be denied?" (Al-Bukhari)

Abdur-Razzaq reported from Ma'mar from Ibn Tawus from his father that Ibn Abbas

He (Ibn Abbas) saw a man springing to his feet in disapproval of the statement when he heard a Hadith from the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم about the Divine Attributes. Then he (Ibn Abbas) said, "What type of the fear is of these people!? They find in entirely clear verses that which they fear and are brought to ruin by those verses which are not entirely clear (in which they seek deviant interpretations)."

When the tribe of Quraish heard Allah's Messenger صلى الله عليه و سلم mentioning Ar-Rahman, they denied this Attribute. It was on this occasion that Allah the Almighty revealed the verse:

وَهُمۡ يَكۡفُرُونَ بِٱلرَّحۡمَـٰنِ‌ۚ

"And they disbelieve in Ar-Rahman [the Most Beneficent (Allah)]" (13:30)

IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE CHAPTER

1) The denial of any of the Names or Attributes of Allah casts out one from Imaan.

2) Detailed account of the verse (13:30).

3) Avoid speaking in a manner which the listener cannot understand clearly.

4) Mentioning the reasons which lead to the denial of Allah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه و سلم) even unintentionally.

5) Warning of Ibn Abbas رضي الله عنهما to the effect that whoever denies any of the Attributes of Allah, he would be ruined.

“Is this the time the hadith is referring to?”

The Messenger of Allāh صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ said:

“Indeed, today you are in a time whose scholars are many, whose preachers are few, whoever leaves a tenth of what he knows has followed his desires. Later a time will come whose preachers are many, whose scholars are few. Whomsoever holds firmly to a tenth of what he knows is saved.”

Three Levels of Taqwaa
“Taqwaa has three levels:

The first: Protecting the heart and limbs from sins and all forbidden matters.

The second: Protecting the heart and limbs form disliked matters [Makrooh].

The third: Protecting oneself from the fudool [curiosity] and what does not concern him.

The first gives the servant his life, the second gives him health and strength and the third enables him to gain happiness, contentment and light.”

1. Cure for hearts
2. Cure for bodies

*Keep Our Heart Away From Riya'*

Riya' is showing off our charity, worship or achievements to others with the aim of getting praise and appreciation from them. This riya' is a disgraceful act of the heart, even that riya' is considered as asy-shirk al-ashgar (little shirk).

A deed or worship that is performed in a riyadi manner has two intentions;
first : for Allah, and
second : for other than Him.

For example,
people perform prayers with the intention for Allah and to be praised by their future parents-in-law, or like someone who gives donations to the poor with the intention for Allah and to be called and praised as a benefactor. This is where riya is referred to as minor shirk, because the person who commits it has partnered with Allah with other than Him in the deed or worship.

People who are riya mean that they are not sincere solely because of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala in doing their charity or worship.

Allah does not like people who are riya' and He will let that person be with his partner. In the following Hadith qudsi the Prophet Muhammad stated this emphatically :

Meaning : "Narrated from Abu Hurairah, he said: The Messenger of Allah said: Allah Tabaraka wa Ta'ala said :
"I am the One who most does not need allies. Whoever does a deed in which he associates Me with other than Me,
I will surely leave him with his partners." [H.R. Muslim]

Meaning : "It was narrated from Mahmud bin Labid that Allah's Apostle said : What I fear most for you is asy-shirk al-ashgar.
Companions asked :
What is ash-shirk al-ashgar,
O Messenger of Allah..?
He said : Riya'.

Allah, when replying to human actions on the Day of Resurrection, says :
"Go to those whom you are happy for in this world, and see if you will be rewarded for them." [H.R. Ahmad]

When the blind man's eyes get cured,
he throws away the walking-stick,
which helped him walk!

When the rain stops,
people get rid of their umbrellas,
which kept them dry!

When sunlight appears,
people put away the lamps and candles,
which enlightened their dark surroundings!

People accompany you according to their needs, the moment they don't need you, they will ghost you.

It is the law of the world, get used to it.

WHOEVER CURSES TIME HAS WRONGED ALLAH!

Chapter No: 45, Kitab At-Tauhid, The Book of Monotheism

Allah the Almighty said:

وَقَالُواْ مَا هِىَ إِلَّا حَيَاتُنَا ٱلدُّنۡيَا نَمُوتُ وَنَحۡيَا وَمَا يُہۡلِكُنَآ إِلَّا ٱلدَّهۡرُ‌ۚ وَمَا لَهُم بِذَٲلِكَ مِنۡ عِلۡمٍ‌ۖ إِنۡ هُمۡ إِلَّا يَظُنُّونَ

"And they say: There is nothing but our life of this world, we die and we live and nothing destroys us except Ad-Dahr (the time). And they have no knowledge of it, they only conjecture." (45:24)

Narrated Abu Hurairah (رضي الله عنه) that the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم said:

"Allah said, 'The son of Adam wrongs me for he curses Ad-Dahr (the time); though I am Ad-Dahr (the Time), in My Hands are all things, and I cause the revolution of day and night." (Al-Bukhari)

In another version wherein it is said:

"Do not abuse Ad-Dahr (the time); for Allah is Ad-Dahr".

IMPORTANT ISSUES OF THE CHAPTER

1) Cursing Ad-Dahr (the time) is forbidden.

2) Abusing Ad-Dahr (the time) is in fact to wrong Allah.

3) Contemplation of the statement of the Prophet صلى الله عليه و سلم "Verily Allah is Ad-Dahr".

4) Something may be an abuse even if such was not the heartfelt intention (of the abuser).

Do Not Grieve Over The Past

Shaykh AbduRahmaan As-Sa'adi [رحمه الله] said:

❝Do not grieve over past matters which have not been destined, from ill health, or loss of wealth or a worldly matter, etc.

Your concern should be with rectification of actions on the day.

Since a person is living in the moment. He should not be saddened for what has passed. Also he should not research into the future where that research would not be of any benefit.

It is upon you to be truthful, fulfill your contracts, keep to one's promises and justice in all dealings.

Fulfilling rights completely and perfectly with a tranquil soul and with truthful pure Eemaan.

Busy yourself with your own mistakes and your matters, rather than the mistakes of the people and their matters.

Deal with everyone according to their situation and condition, whether he is a senior, or youngster, male or female, a leader or a follower.

Be gentle and merciful to everyone even animals and livestock, since indeed Allaah is merciful to his merciful worshippers.

Be balanced in all your matters, and open up your mind to every religious and worldly benefit.❞
