When the race horse knows that it’s nearing the end of the track, it exerts all its effort to win the race. Do not let the race horse be more clever than you. For verily, actions are judged by their endings. So if you didn’t do well with welcoming Ramadan, then perhaps you will do better bidding it farewell.

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) Saying:
Souls are troops collected together and those who familiarised with each other (in the heaven from where these come) would have affinity, with one another (in the world) and those amongst them who opposed each other (in the Heaven) would also be divergent (in the world).

THOSE WHO ARE TOO AMAZED BY THEMSELVES
"Considering Your Muslim Brother “Less” for Any Reason is a Disease
Sa’eed Ibn Ismaa’eel (rahimahullaah) said:
Fear of Allaah leads you to the path (obedience of) Allaah
and self-amazement (useless pride) within your soul cuts you off (separates you) from Allaah
and (having) belittlement of the people within your soul is a disease that cannot be cured (does not heal)."

HOW MANY OF US WILL DO THIS?
🔎 When was the last time you checked on your deceased friends' family?
Shihāb-Deen Ibn Raslān (d. 844h) رحمه الله said,
"In the past (among the Salaf), there were those who would check on the family & children of their brother forty years after his death, taking care of their needs and interests.
They would visit them every day, so they would not miss anything from the deceased except his presence, and one of them would go to the door of his brother in his absence and presence, and he would ask, saying:
‘Do you need oil? Do you need salt? Do you have any need?’ and he would fulfill it without his brother knowing.”

The Wing of a Mosquito
The Prophet (saws) said in a hadith:
لَوْ كَانَتْ الدُّنْيَا تَعْدِلُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ جَنَاحَ بَعُوضَةٍ مَا سَقَى كَافِرًا مِنْهَا شَرْبَةَ مَاءٍ
‘If the world were as worthy to Allah as the wing of a mosquito, an unbeliever would not even be given a sip of water.” (Tirmidhi).
What does this mean?
The scholars mention that the world in and of itself has no value to Allah, and so he allows anyone to benefit from it.
We see atheists, oppressors & others making millions of dollars & living in nice houses, though they may be limited in good.
The hadith highlights an important point - when something has value (like an expensive car), you will be conscious of who you share it with.
However, if something is insignificant to you e.g., a penny coin, you will give it to anyone.
The Prophet (saws) is saying that this world to Allah has minimal value. It’s value (in comparison to the hereafter) is like the wing of a mosquito!
Therefore, a believer needs to remember not to give this world too much of his time. Yes, we will work, live & play here, but it’s not the end goal. We should aim to invest in deeds for the hereafter.
The Prophet (saws) embodied this in a du’a when he said:
‘O Allah, do not make the dunya our greatest concern’.

Narrated Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Amongst the men of Bani Israel there was a man who had murdered ninety-nine persons. Then he set out asking (whether his repentance could be accepted or not). He came upon a monk and asked him if his repentance could be accepted. The monk replied in the negative and so the man killed him. He kept on asking till a man advised to go to such and such village. (So he left for it) but death overtook him on the way. While dying, he turned his chest towards that village (where he had hoped his repentance would be accepted), and so the angels of mercy and the angels of punishment quarrelled amongst themselves regarding him. Allah ordered the village (towards which he was going) to come closer to him, and ordered the village (whence he had come), to go far away, and then He ordered the angels to measure the distances between his body and the two villages. So he was found to be one span closer to the village (he was going to). So he was forgiven."

Allah -glorified is He- says:
و لولا دفع الله الناس بعضهم ببعض لفسدت الأرض ولكن الله ذو فضل على العالمين
"...and if Allah did not check one group of people by way of another, the earth would be corrupt; however, Allah is sole possessor of bounties (bestowed) upon the existence." al-Baqarah: 251
This shows the importance of advice, enjoining good and forbidding evil, refuting and repelling evil, warning against opposition to the text, obstructing oppression, and other similar actions considered to be Jihad in Allah's religion, and Allah knows best.

Anyone seeking roles of power / judiciary in Islam, in the sense of being greedy for it, asking for it, was not seen positively by the Prophet of Islam, Muhammad,
This hadeeth is mentioned by scholars under the sections of Imárah / Qada`a.
Abu Musa al Ash'ari (ra) said:
"Two of my cousins on my father’s side and I went in to see the Prophet and one of them said, “Messenger of God, put us in command of part of what God has put in your charge,” the other also saying the same. The Prophet (ص) replied,
«إِنَّا وَاللَّهِ لَا نُوَلِّي عَلَى هَذَا الْعَمَلِ أَحَدًا سَأَلَهُ وَلَا أَحَدًا حَرَصَ عَلَيْهِ»
“𝐈 𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐲 𝐀𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐈 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐢𝐧 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞, 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐰𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐬 𝐞𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐭..”

The case of Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام asking for control does not fall in this category and there are exceptions to this rule.. For example, if someone is really confident and powerful to take control and desires control because he knows others are incapable and their getting into authority will cause harm to the state, then this doesen't come under asking for it by greed ! Infact he would not be asking for it even.
Nevertheless, it's a good Islamic principle to learn from, that we must be always skeptical of the one showing greed for prominent positions and such people must never be allowed a free pass.
