Fungal pathogens are major threats to public health and agriculture 🌍, and understanding their infection strategies is crucial for the development of novel fungicides 💡. In this project, you will explore the role of RNA-binding proteins in the pathogenic development of the plant pathogenic fungus Ustilago maydis 🌾.
You will combine RNA biochemistry with microbial genetics and live cell observation, using innovative RNA proximity labeling approaches to explore molecular mechanisms at the trannoscriptome-wide level 📊.

Are you passionate about organometallic chemistry and catalysis? The Institute for Chemical Research (IIQ), CSIC-University of Seville (Spain) is offering two PhD positions as part of the prestigious ERC Consolidator project “BiMetalGAS” led by Prof. Jesús Campos.
Research Focus:
The project focuses on the catalytic activation of CO₂, N₂O, and NH₃ using low-coordinate bimetallic complexes and transition metal/heavier tetrylene systems (Ge, Sn). The PhD candidates will work on:
✅ Ligand Design & Open-Shell Structures
✅ Synthesis & Characterization of New Complexes
✅ Reactivity & Catalytic Studies in CO₂ Activation, Hydroamination, and More
What We Offer:
🔹 Fully funded 3-year contract (with possible extension)
🔹 Cutting-edge research environment at CSIC-University of Seville
🔹 Work on an ERC-funded project with international collaboration
Eligibility Criteria:
✔️ Master’s degree in Chemistry
✔️ Experience in organometallic chemistry & spectroscopy
✔️ Background in organic synthesis and catalysis is a plus
