To strengthen and develop our activities in nonlinear optics, we are looking for a collaborator with strong expertise in experimental nonlinear optics. This research focuses both on the fundamental mechanisms of second- and higher-harmonic generation in nanostructures and on their applications. Whilst in the past it has emphasized plasmonic nanostructures, it is curently evolving in the framework of a large project toward dielectric and hybrid systems that combine plasmonic metals with semiconductors. This research addresses both the response of individual nanostructures and the collective effects existing in metasurfaces. We offer an extensive research infrastructure that will enable this new team member to advance her/his scientific career in collaboration with a small group of PhD students.
Requirements: PhD in physics, materials sciences or related topics. Proven experience and advanced skills in nonlinear optics, possibly with plasmonic nanostructures or metasurfaces. Mastery of the corresponding experimental techniques, ideally with open laser systems (Coherent Verdi 18 + Mira 900). Good command of experimental optics. Additional nanofabrication experience in the cleanroom and/or numerical simulations would be a definite asset. Sense of responsibility, creativity and proven publication record. Scientific leadership and good communication skills.
