The school of earth and ocean sciences, university of victoria, canada, offers one fully funded graduate student (PhD or MSC) opportunity in geodesy and geodynamics, with a flexible start time in 2023. The successful candidate will conduct research in the general field of tectonic geodesy. options include natural and induced earthquake deformation, subduction zone geodynamics, and sea level change. depending on the research topic and individual interest, the graduate research may involve field investigations, terrestrial and subsea geodetic monitoring, analysis of geodetic data, and/or numerical modelling. the students will have opportunities to interact with the team of scientists in the nearby pacific geoscience centre, geological survey of canada, and contribute to canadian national programs regarding natural hazards and climate change.
Candidates with a strong background in math and physics are encouraged to apply.
