"dysphoria is a very common hallmark of transness, sure, but gender euphoria is an almost completely universal and therefore much more reliable signifier and frankly i think we should say 'if the idea of being a different gender than the one you were born assigned as makes you feel happy/better about yourself you're trans' instead of telling people 'the way you know you're trans is if your body feels like a prision and your genitals make you hate yourself' "

self compassion, "laziness does not exist"

"the more i think about it, the more i realize that being 'lazy' is not a real thing. people are chronically ill, disabled, mentally ill, overworked, exhausted, but 'lazy' isnt even a thing"

socialization

"everyone everywhere has always had a concept of "the last straw" or "death by a thousand cuts" or "the tipping point" and yet when people tried to coin the very reasonable term "microaggression" for how even "small" forms of discrimination build up and can ruin someone's life, it got mocked and sneered at it so hard that the term fizzled and died and now there's no convenient way to explain what its like for someone to experience an insidiously slow burn of hostile or ignorant treatment without it summoning the 4chan meme brigade"

"-i've been so frustrated
+why
-it just feels like i'll never be good enough

-i work hard
-i try so hard
-but i'll never be pretty enough
-or creative enough
-or good enough

+have you ever asked yourself the question
+what - or who - are you not good enough for

-now that you mention it... i have no idea"

unscheduled message

about a week ago, an informational text about "aspire before injecting" was posted in this channel. since then, a number of people who seem informed on the issue have warned that it is not really true, with one providing an explanation of "it doesnt really matter, and it is needlessly alarmist"

admin acknowledges that posting medical advice without at least asking any professional was reckless and a bad idea, and will try to refrain from making such a mistake again

the post will now be removed from the channel. thanks for the criticism

"im not sure if this will come out right but:

being loved is NOT a reward for being beneficial or useful in any way.
you dont become less deserving of being loved if you arent productive for a day or if you have a bad day and cant get out of bed

i promise. being loved has nothing to do with how you "help" the world or those around you"

impostor syndrome, intrusive thoughts

"Being a good person is a choice. Don’t let people fool you into believing that truly good people never have bad thoughts, are never tempted by the easier path, by the low road, never mess up or act out selfishly. Never believe a person can be good without making a conscious effort.

Every single time you do something good, you’ve made a decision to make the world a little brighter.

Goodness is not an inherent trait, it is a choice. Keep making it! I see you, I’m proud of you, and I’m rooting for you!"

mental health, language

"honestly i think one of the most empowering things you can do for yourself is to separate your negative qualities from your identity

instead of saying "im lazy", saying "i've made a habit of not doing work unless its absolutely necessary". instead of saying "im a bad friend", saying "i havent communicated as much as i should with people i care about"

by being specific about your problems, and by framing it as an action that you are consciously either working on or ignoring rather than an unchangeable part of who you are, you allow yourself to accept your mistakes and work constructively on them instead of pretending they didnt happen or wallowing in blaming yourself"

healing, trauma, impostor syndrome

"it just occurred to me that many people are actually afraid to heal because their entire identity is centered around the trauma they've experienced. they have no idea who they are outside of trauma & that unknown can be terrifying"
