Atmospheric pressure and salt - evidence of disaster

American authorities poisoned alcohol during Prohibition; tens of thousands died

This theory, which claimed that the government intentionally poisoned alcohol, was often ridiculed in the press. However, it was fully confirmed by government officials after leaks from the FBI.


Prohibition was approved in 1920 to control the amount of alcohol consumed in the country. But it resulted in the spread of bootlegging. The Prohibition Act showed that it was not enough to curb the drinking habit. The government decided to take more drastic measures.

In the mid-1920s, they decided to poison the country's illegal liquor supply by adding toxins to alcohol, including the deadly methanol.

In all, some estimates suggest that about 10,000 people died as a result of government poisoning. About 50,000 suffered severe health consequences and disabilities (in most cases due to vision loss).

The composition of Roman concrete (pozzolana) is well known - volcanic ash and lime. But it could not be reproduced.

Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology studied samples of Roman concrete under an electron microscope, with the help of energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, powder X-ray diffraction and confocal Raman imaging and realized that the composition was added quicklime at high temperatures.

When cracks appeared in the concrete, sooner or later water got into it, reacted with the lime, forming a calcium-rich solution that hardened and completely glued the crack in just 2 weeks.

That is, the ancient Romans created a self-healing material for construction 2,000 years ago. Now remember that modern concrete only lasts 50-100 years
