“Two men from the people of Desires entered upon Ibn Seereen and said: 'O Aboo Bakr, can we narrate to you a Hadeeth (Prophetic Narration)?' He said: 'No.' They said: 'Then can we recite to you an Aayah from the book of Allaah?' He said: 'No, either both of you get up and leave or I will get up.'” He (Asmaa) said: “So they both got up and left. Then someone from the people said: 'O Aboo Bakr, what harm would it have done you if they had recited an Aayah from the Book of Allaah, the Most High?' He replied: 'Indeed I feared that they may read an Aayah to me and then distort its meaning, and consequently that settles in my heart.'”

The Companions Are Safeguards For The Ummah
Aboo Burdah (radiallaahu anhu) narrated from his father, that he said: "We performed the Maghrib Prayer with the Messenger of Allaah (ﷺ) and then we said: ‘We should remain sitting until we pray the ‘Ishaa Prayer with him.’ He said: ‘So we remained sitting and then he (ﷺ) came out to us and said: "You are still here?" We said: ‘O Messenger of Allaah! We performed the Maghrib Prayer with you and then we said that we should sit until we pray the ‘Ishaa alongside you.’ He (ﷺ) said: "You have done well." Or "You have done the right thing." He said: ‘Then he raised his head towards the sky, and he was one who used to often raise his head (looking) towards the sky, and he (ﷺ) said: "The stars are the safeguards of the sky, so if the stars disappear then what has been promised for the sky will come, and I am a safeguard for my companions so when I pass away then there will come to my companions what they have been promised, and my companions are safeguards for my Ummah, so when my companions pass away there will come to my Ummah what they have been promised."
Explanation by Imaam an-Nawawee: "Chapter: The clarification that the remaining of the Prophet (ﷺ) is a safeguard for his companions and the remaining of his companions is a safeguard for the Ummah."
An-Nawawee said: “The meaning of this Hadeeth is that as long as the stars remain then the sky will also remain. So when the stars fall and they become scattered and dispersed on the (Day of) Judgement, the sky will become weak, and it will be cleft asunder, torn apart, and it will perish and be destroyed.
His statement (ﷺ): “And I am a safeguard for my companions so when I pass away then there will come to my companions what they have been promised.” And after me, there will come upon my companions trials and tribulations, wars, the apostation of those who apostated from the Bedouins, the differing of the hearts, and that which is similar to that from what he clearly warned from. And all of that happened.
His statement (ﷺ): “And my companions are safeguards for my Ummah, so when my companions pass away there will come to my Ummah what they have been promised.” The meaning of this is the appearance of innovations and newly invented matters in the religion, Fitan (trials and tribulations) in it, the appearance of the horns of the devil, the emergence of Rome and others against them, the violation of al-Madeenah and Makkah, and other than that.
All of these affairs are from his (ﷺ) miracles, may the peace and blessings of Allaah be upon.”
