If you are wondering why citizens are being turned away that are coming to help NC and TN - you'll want to hear my experience as someone who has been doing this as a private citizen for almost a decade.

I was able to get into, and out of Asheville. We brought food, water, fuel and other supplies as well as helped people affected by the floods, but there are reasons why they are not allowing outside help.

I cannot confirm the reasons why in NC, but i can tell you the reasons in other storms i have worked - i'll explain below.

Let me share with you the first disaster area that i finally realized that this was all about money.

The UK has announced it is giving up sovereignty of a remote but strategically important cluster of islands in the Indian Ocean after more than half a century.

This includes the tropical atoll of Diego Garcia, used by the US government as a military base for its navy ships and long-range bomber aircraft.

The US-UK base will remain on Diego Garcia – a key factor enabling the deal to go forward at a time of growing geopolitical rivalries in the region between Western countries, India, and China.

"This is a seminal moment in our relationship and a demonstration of our enduring commitment to the peaceful resolution of disputes and the rule of law," the statement from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth read.

🇪🇺🇬🇧 EU tells Starmer to accept tens of thousands of migrants a year to secure PM's 'relations reset'

Over 30,000 migrants - and their families - could be handed residency rights in Britain if the EU gets its way

Sir Keir Starmer cannot be handed a "free lunch" if he wants a a so-called relations reset with the EU, the bloc's leaders have warned - with migration high on the European agenda.

Ahead of the PM's visit to Brussels today to get the ball rolling on a new post-Brexit deal, continental bigwigs are understood to have demanded British concessions on migration, fishing and youth mobility as trade-offs for the "reset".

On fishing, the bloc is set to demand longer-term access to Britain's waters for Europe's fishing fleet - which it currently only has up to 2026.

But as the UK grapples with a rising migrant crisis, VDL is set to push for the UK to align with the EU's new asylum pact - which will see member states resettling an annual quota of asylum seekers across the bloc, starting with a minimum of 30,000 per year.

EU leaders believe Starmer's Britain is "favourable" to the new rules that would allow the UK to return some small boat migrants to the continent for the first time since Brexit.

In return, Britain would be told to take some of the tens of thousands of asylum seekers who enter Europe each year. It would also require Britain to agree a legal route for asylum seekers to come to Britain from Europe, including residency rights for their families.
