Melissa is producing extreme wind gusts as high as 215 mph on the surface.

This is beyond capable of producing total and utter devastation, similar to a higher end tornado.

185-215 mph winds are enough to rip bark off trees. It is safe to assume that most towns in the Western half of Jamaica will be razed to the ground by Hurricane Melissa.
