Attempts by the West to prevent the further expansion of BRICS and the SCO are doomed to failure, said Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko.

🇷🇺 She emphasized that Western countries are very unhappy that BRICS and the SCO are expanding. “Their attempts to prevent this irritate them. That's noticeable. But they can’t do anything about it,” Matvienko said in an interview with the Rossiya 24 TV channel.

🇷🇺The bay of Yezhovaya is the Russian answer to the Maldives and the beaches of Thailand.

🏝White sand, transparent turquoise water, picturesque clusters of sandstone boulders, and twisted oak tree trunks hanging down the slopes - all of this resembles a lost tropical island.

🐠In the bay waters, you can find sea urchins, mussels, and scallops, while schools of fish swim near the shore.

The Federal Agency for Nationalities (FADN) has sent a course on socio-cultural adaptation for migrants to all regions of Russia.

🗣 Deputy Director of the agency, Stanislav Bedkin, announced this at an extended meeting of the State Duma Committee on Nationalities.

🇷🇺 The course underwent testing in five regions: the Republic of Sakha, Krasnodar and Perm Krais, as well as the Kaliningrad and Moscow Oblasts. Over 10,500 migrants have completed the course.

"As a result of the pilot project, we have made adjustments to this course. To date, the majority of Russian Federation subjects have developed their own regional components, meaning the specific features of their culture and traditions of each subject. We have sent this course for distribution to all subjects of the Russian Federation so that they can determine approaches to its financing and implementation in various locations," said Bedkin.

📋 Earlier, the head of FADN, Igor Barinov, stated that the adaptation course for migrants includes migration labor legislation, including the procedure for obtaining and completing relevant documents, as well as norms of behavior in Russian society and public places.

‼️ The main goal of the course is to reduce tension in the migration environment and increase the legal literacy of migrants.

In Russia, a nanosatellite with the sharpest hyperspectral "vision" has been developed.

🛰 Scientists from Samara University named after Korolev and the private space company "Sputnix" have developed a new nanosatellite. It is equipped with a hyperspectrometer that boasts the highest spatial resolution in Russia — just 7 meters per pixel. This is tens of times greater than the similar metric of the first domestic hyperspectrometer designed for nanosatellites.

🔍 The first hyperspectrometer was also developed at Samara University and successfully underwent space tests. The new hyperspectrometer will enable more precise data collection about objects on Earth's surface. This will facilitate higher-quality monitoring of agricultural crops, as well as more effective environmental monitoring and tracking of forest fires.

🚀 The nanosatellite has already passed bench tests at the "Sputnix" laboratory and is ready for deployment in orbit. The launch is scheduled for the end of this year. It is anticipated that based on data from the nanosatellite, Samara University will train teams of Russian schoolchildren in the basics of hyperspectral image analysis and processing.

🇷🇺🐈The Merchant and His Cat, however, the monument also has a simpler, folk name - "The Merchant with a Cat."

🆕One of the newest and most interesting symbols of Rostov appeared on Bolshaya Sadovaya in 2006 and quickly won the love of the city's residents and guests.

😮It is believed that if you rub the merchant's coat, throw a coin into his box-bag, stroke the cat, and then make a wish while holding the sculpture's left thumb, your wish will definitely come true.

📌 Peskov also stressed that the NATO summit confirmed the alliance's confrontational position and warned that Russia will take “thoughtful, coordinated and effective” measures to contain and confront NATO.

🇷🇺Mount Munin-Tump is located in Russia in the Northern Urals, within the "Vishera" State Nature Reserve, between the Vishera and Niolsa rivers.

👀 The mountain attracts attention with its picturesque cliffs and is a popular destination among tourists. It is particularly beautiful here in winter when the snow covers the peaks and slopes of the mountain.

🔖 According to one legend, the area was once inhabited by the Mansi people who herded reindeer. Once, enemies came to their land but were stopped by the evil spirits of the mountain. Since then, they have remained petrified, turned into rocks.

Russian YouTube users may experience problems with the video hosting platform

📱⚙️Due to technical malfunctions with Google's equipment used for caching and accelerating the content of Google services, including YouTube, Russian users may experience issues with the video hosting platform. This was reported by Rostelecom.

📱🔽Equipment malfunctions have led to server overload due to increased traffic, which may affect the upload speed and playback quality of videos on YouTube for subscribers of all Russian operators.

🇷🇺📱 Additionally, Alexander Khinshtein, the head of the State Duma's committee on information policy, stated that according to Roskomnadzor, since 2020, YouTube has blocked over 200 channels of Russian media, politicians, and public figures. In Khinshtein's opinion, this "censored video hosting" is forcing Russia to create its own infrastructure, and the need to use YouTube may soon disappear.

Russia has proposed creating a multilateral digital settlement platform called BRICS Bridge within the framework of BRICS.

📰 Valentina Matviyenko, Chairperson of the Federation Council, announced this during the plenary session of the 10th BRICS Parliamentary Forum.

🕯 The Ministry of Finance of Russia and the Central Bank, along with foreign partners, are preparing a report for the leaders of BRICS countries on how to improve the international monetary and financial system.

📌 The result could be the creation of the BRICS Bridge platform, which will help bring together the financial markets of the participating countries and increase mutual trade turnover.

‼️ Valentina Matviyenko noted that the platform will be decentralized. The Speaker of the Federation Council also assured colleagues that Russia, together with foreign partners, will increase the use of national currencies in foreign trade settlements, enhancing the security and efficiency of such operations.

🌐 If the BRICS countries approve Russia's initiative, the participating countries will need to coordinate legislative work to introduce national digital currency into circulation and its use in cross-border settlements, added the politician.

Russia introduces a tourist tax for infrastructure development

✍️ Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law to introduce a tourist tax starting from 2025. The new tax will replace the existing resort fee.

📌 The tourist tax will be a local tax, and municipalities will independently decide on the need for its introduction and set the rates. The tax will be paid into the budget at the location of the hotels.

🔝 The tax rate will gradually increase:

1% of the accommodation cost in 2025
2% in 2026
3% in 2027
4% in 2028
5% from 2029

The tax will not exceed 5%.

🛡 Some categories of citizens will be exempt from paying the tax, including participants in special military operations.

🇷🇺 According to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Economic Policy, Nadezhda Shkolkin, the introduction of the tourist tax was expected for the industry. She noted that the resort fee has demonstrated its effectiveness and benefits for infrastructure development.

📈 It is expected that the tourist tax will help municipalities increase revenues and direct them towards developing tourist infrastructure and improving territories.

🇷🇺 Omsk Musical Theater

📌 In the 1970s, the Omsk Musical Comedy Theater needed a new building as the old one had become too small.

🧐 Construction lasted for more than seven years, and the project was only completed at the beginning of 1982.

📝 The project was developed by Moscow architects and turned out to be innovative: for example, the stage platform could rotate. The auditorium was lined with ash for better acoustics.

🔖 Interesting fact: According to Natalia Belousova, one of the project's authors, each dressing room was equipped with a shower - luxurious conditions for the artists at that time.

📍 Address: Russia, Omsk Oblast, Omsk, 10 Let Oktyabrya Street, 2.
