Historical reconstruction of the Battle of Brunet in St. Petersburg

🗓 On July 20, the historical and cultural festival "No pasaran!" started on Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg. ("They won't pass!"), which included a reconstruction of the 1937 Battle of Brunet.

🪖 During the reconstruction, special attention was paid to the use of original equipment elements such as belts, steel helmets, etc. The descendants of those who were the first to leave the USSR for Spain to fight fascism performed at the opening of the festival.

Tyumen has set a record for the longest barbecue in Russia

🥇📰A grand culinary event took place on the Tyumen embankment: the longest barbecue in the country was cooked. The record was officially recorded by representatives of the Russian Book of Records.

😦Barbecues lined up next to the river, making up an impressive row of 438 meters long. There was a meat skewer of the same length. Under a friendly team of participants, the giant kebab was fried, and then turned over only four times to evenly fry each side. After that, he was also synchronously removed from the barbecues.

👨‍🍳🔝438 kilograms of chicken meat were used to cook the record-breaking barbecue. At least 600 people took part in the grand roast. Each grill was one meter long.

⏱It took the organizers two days to marinate such an amount of meat. After setting the record, the barbecue was distributed free of charge to all interested Tyumen residents.

The Russian team successfully performed at the 65th International Mathematical Olympiad, winning four gold and two silver medals.

📍 The Olympics took place in the UK, and members of the Russian team completed tasks remotely from the site of the Herzen Russian State Pedagogical University in St. Petersburg.

🌍👨‍🏫 In total, representatives of 108 countries took part in the Olympiad. As part of the competition, schoolchildren solved six problems over two days. The assignments covered various areas of the school mathematics course: geometry, number theory, algebra and combinatorics.

The Ural Federal University (UrFU) has presented a new digital project - the virtual museum "Epoch of Changes: Intellectuals, Power, and Society in Great Britain and Russia of the 17th-18th Centuries."

⏳ A team of historians, philologists, and regional studies experts from UrFU has been working on creating the museum for over two years. Just as much time was spent on collecting and analyzing materials.

📚 As a result, the museum features over 600 illustrations and more than 200 articles. The exhibitions contain information about the two cultures of that time from eight aspects: Worldview, political and religious discourse, attitudes towards marriage, childhood, life and death, scientific knowledge, shaping the individual of the new era.

🧐 From the materials of the virtual museum, one can learn how new spaces were explored, how a new statehood was formed, and how people's perceptions of life and death changed. The project also delves into the formation of the modern individual and scientific knowledge.

⚡️ The uniqueness of the museum lies in its international character. It allows for a comparison of two culturally-historical regions that were at different stages of development but made a comparable contribution to the formation of European civilization.
