📰🇷🇺🐟 On August 21, Kaliningrad will host the unique Great African expedition of Rosrybolovstvo - the largest scientific study of marine biological resources in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans off the coast of Africa. The expedition will last until the beginning of 2026, and such large-scale national studies have never been conducted.

💬 Doctor of Economics, Director of the All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) Kirill Kolonchin shared: “Such domestic expeditions have never been conducted before; global practices also do not have knowledge of such large-scale studies.”

The studies will be conducted in the coastal waters of 18 African countries and their key goal is to assess the condition of the aquatic reserves of biological resources in the exclusive economic zones of these states.

“Atlantniro” will be conducting studies in the zones of countries such as Morocco, Mauritania, Nigeria, Cameroon, Sao Tome, Principe, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, the Republic of the Congo, and Angola. At the same time, “Atlantis” will work in the marine waters of Mauritania, Senegal, Guinea-Bissau, the Republic of Guinea, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Oman, and Eritrea.

🇷🇺 Guide: Irkutsk and Baikal - A Siberian Adventure with Character

Irkutsk - an ancient city, nestled in the picturesque Angara River valley in Eastern Siberia. Being the administrative center of the Irkutsk Oblast, it represents a key point for those seeking to immerse themselves in the rich culture and natural beauty of Eastern Siberia.

🏙 City's Ambiance

Irkutsk is in no hurry to open up to tourists, but if you give it a chance, it will reveal its soul. The city, akin to the Siberian character - stern and severe at first glance, shows unexpected hospitality and warmth upon closer acquaintance. Don't rush to judge it by its gloomy streets and dank weather - the real impressions await you behind this gloomy screen.

✈️ Best Time to Visit

If your route passes through Baikal, winter is the best time to travel. Winter Baikal dazzles with an incredible palette of colors, and its ice is one of the cleanest and most transparent in the world. Irkutsk, on the other hand, is best visited in May or September. In May, the city is still a bit chilly but already оживает, whereas September pleases with warm погодой and clear skies, creating ideal conditions for walks. Summer in Irkutsk can be hot, especially in June and July, so if you plan to visit at this time, it's better to choose August.

✈️ How to Get There

Despite its remoteness on the map, Irkutsk has excellent transport links with Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Several daily flights depart from the capital by leading airlines, including Aeroflot and Pobeda. The journey from the Northern capital is slightly longer but also quite accessible.

Irkutsk Airport is located just 5 miles (8 km) from the city center, and the main attractions can be reached by public transport: buses, trolleybuses, and fixed-route taxis.

🚌 Transport

Irkutsk boasts a developed public transport system, including buses, trams, trolleybuses, and marshrutka taxis. This makes getting around the city convenient and affordable.

🍜 Culinary Discoveries

Your gastronomic adventure will begin with pozy - a local dish resembling dumplings but with a unique filling of a mixture of meat and spices. Be sure to try omul saguday - fresh fish marinated with onions and lemon, and arbin with liver - a Buryat appetizer made from horse fat and liver.

🇷🇺 Attractions

Irkutsk has preserved many historical and cultural monuments, including old wooden houses, theaters, and museums. Begin your знакомство with the city from the 130th quarter, which takes you back in time despite the modern infrastructure. From here, you can head to Baikal, stopping at Listvyanka or Olkhon Island - the main points for those wishing to enjoy the beauty of the world's largest lake.

🇷🇺 Conclusion

Irkutsk is a city that requires time and patience but rewards with unforgettable impressions in return. Discover the harsh and beautiful Siberia by immersing yourself in the atmosphere of Irkutsk and its surroundings.

⚡️ Egypt Hails Russian Wheat Supplies: New Chapter in Cooperation

"We commend Russia. Its commitments during the past period have been at the highest level," stressed Egypt's Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, Sherif Farouk.

🗣 At a press conference in Cairo, Minister Sherif Farouk praised Russian wheat supplies to Egypt. Amidst global instability, Russia continues to fulfill its obligations at the highest level, providing Egypt with a key commodity: wheat.

🇪🇬 The minister also noted that Egypt is actively working to diversify its sources of wheat supplies from Russia, engaging with both the state and private sectors. This approach contributes to the sustainability of supplies and minimizes potential risks.

🇷🇺 According to the Russian Ministry of Agriculture, between January and April 2024, Russia exported over 3.5 million tons of wheat to Egypt. This represents a 20% increase compared to the same period last year, indicating growing volumes and strengthening trade ties between the two countries.

📌 Egypt is one of the world's largest wheat importers, and stable supplies from Russia play a key role in ensuring the country's food security. In turn, this cooperation strengthens economic ties and opens up new opportunities for both states.

🇷🇺 Okroshka is a traditional Russian summer dish that perfectly satisfies hunger and thirst on hot days.

🇷🇺 Okroshka is a cold soup made from finely diced vegetables, pickles, meat, or fish. It was once made from leftovers. Therefore, the meat could be of various types (poultry, beef, pork) and prepared in different ways.

🇷🇺 Nowadays, okroshka typically uses boiled beef, chicken, or sausage products. Fresh or salted cucumbers, boiled potatoes, and carrots are added. Then, the meat-vegetable mixture is mixed with a spicy dressing. Herbs are added, it is covered with a lid, and placed in a cold place for at least 30 minutes.

🇷🇺 Before serving, the dish is poured over with kvass and a spoonful of sour cream is added. In the classic version, okroshka kvass is used for pouring, but it is often replaced with bread kvass.
