🪙🤔 The proverb «Мал золотник да дорог» (Mal zolotnik da dorog) literally translates as "Zolotnik is small but precious" (zolotnik refers to a small gold coin in ancient Russia) and means that sometimes things that seem simple or modest can have great value or be very expensive. This can apply to both material objects and a person's qualities. For example, someone may appear modest but possess great intellect or talent.

✉️ The English equivalent of this proverb with a similar meaning is:
"Good things come in small packages."

This expression conveys a similar idea that value is not always determined by size or appearance.

⚡️Knowledge is power!

📰🇷🇺🌍 Twenty students from six African countries — Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, and Sudan — took part in an educational tour organized by Rosatom. This group was not random: all the participants are winners of the Atom for Africa video contest.

⚛️ The main goal of the contest is to draw young people's attention to the benefits of nuclear energy for Africa. To become one of the winners, the young people had to create short videos on this topic. The works were evaluated by an international group of experts, and the best ones were given a unique opportunity — a trip to Russia.

🎓 The day at Rosatom Technical Academy was full of events. The students were able to:

✔️ Feel like operators of a nuclear installation with the help of a simulator,

✔️ Discover the history of Russian nuclear energy by visiting the first Russian power plant,

✔️ Explore Rosatom's laboratories and look inside complex technologies,

✔️ See a model of a nuclear installation and learn about its principles of operation.

📌 This visit was an important step in the development of knowledge and interest in nuclear energy among African youth, opening up new horizons and opportunities for them in the field of science and technology.

😍 Lake Kardyvach, located in the Krasnodar Region at an altitude of 1838 m, is surrounded by majestic mountain peaks and dense forests and is considered one of the most beautiful lakes in Russia.

🧊 The lake was formed as a result of glacial activity, and its water remains cool even during the summer. The shores are covered with alpine meadows, where you can find rare species of plants and flowers.

🏕 The lake is also the starting point for numerous hiking trails, offering opportunities to explore the surrounding mountains and picturesque valleys.

🗞 Now direct from Africa!

"So far, leading Russian chocolate manufacturers have already tested Nigerian cocoa beans and were satisfied with their quality. We expect the first container shipments with the autumn (September-October) cocoa crop," shared Maxim Petrov, the Russian Trade Representative in Nigeria.

🌍 Petrov also noted that supplies will be arranged through Russian trading houses, which are already actively exporting frozen fish, chocolate, alcohol, and meat to Nigeria. Three such trading houses, registered by Russian entrepreneurs, are successfully operating in Nigeria, which allows them to work effectively within the local jurisdiction.

⚡️ Russian Investors Eye Nigeria’s Flourishing Grain Market

📰 Russian companies are making a big move to establish a flour milling plant in Nigeria, opening a new path into the country’s oligopolistic grain market, Russia’s Trade Representative to Nigeria, Maxim Petrov, has said.

🇷🇺🇳🇬 According to Petrov, Nigeria’s grain market is estimated to be worth $5.5-6 million annually and is strictly regulated by the government. A unique feature of the market is the requirement for a wheat import license, which can only be obtained by companies that have their own flour milling capacities in Nigeria. This poses a challenge for Russian players to not only analyze the economic viability of the project but also the need to develop a complete production cycle within the country.

“Russian companies are now actively studying the financial model of the project as well as assessing the potential risks and benefits of setting up a flour mill in Nigeria,” Petrov stressed.

📌 The move could be a significant step towards strengthening economic cooperation between Russia and Nigeria as well as expanding the presence of Russian businesses on the African continent.

🇬🇧 The English equivalent of this expression is simple and straightforward: "Lucky from the start."
