🇷🇺📰 Meeting of the Russian President with High Representatives of the BRICS States Responsible for Security Issues Begins at Constantine Palace

"This is the fourteenth such meeting to be held in this format within the BRICS framework. However, this time, delegations from new states that have joined our association as full members since January 1 are taking part in it. Moreover, there was a meeting with the participation of our colleagues from countries that are not yet part of BRICS but sincerely want to work with our association more closely".

🗣 Putin noted that the meeting of high representatives is one of the important stages in preparing for the BRICS and BRICS Plus/Outreach summit, which will be held on October 22–24 in the Russian city of Kazan.

📈 Putin also highlighted the growing interest in BRICS from many countries:

"We could not ignore the growing interest in BRICS from many countries. To date, more than three dozen countries, or more precisely 34 countries, have expressed a desire to join our association's activities in one form or another."

🏙 Perm: The City of Salt and the "Little New York"

🧂 Perm was founded in 1723 as a salt-making plant. Salt mining was hard work, which caused the workers' shoulders and ears to swell. This is how the people of Perm got the nickname "salty ears".

💦 Perm stretches for 50 km along the Kama River and is considered the longest city in the Urals. It would take about 17 hours to walk along the river from one end of the city to the other.

🛣 Perm's layout is somewhat reminiscent of New York. More precisely, Perm has a similar street layout. In the 19th century, by order of Governor Karl Moderakh, the streets were laid out in a grid pattern: parallel streets intersecting with other parallel streets. Thanks to Moderakh's efforts, the best roads in Russia were built in Perm at that time.

📚 Without Cyril and Methodius, the monuments of ancient Russian literature, chronicles, and the lives of the saints would hardly have reached their descendants. These people went down in history not only as the creators of the alphabet, but also as preachers of Christian doctrine and philosophers.

👨‍👩‍👦 Not many people know that Cyril and Methodius were brothers. But initially the boys were not called that way. The eldest, strong and more courageous was named Michael (in monasticism the name Methodius). And the youngest, who was constantly ill, but very gifted, was called Constantine (in monasticism the name Cyril). The age difference between them was 12 years. The brothers were always friends, the elder taking care of the younger.

🎓 From childhood, Cyril was a very gifted person. He mastered all the sciences of his time perfectly, among them: literature, rhetoric, grammar, dialectics, astronomy, music. He knew Hebrew, Slavic, Greek, Latin, and Arabic well.

🛡 Methodius decided to take a completely different path. He went to military service. He later became the ruler of one of the Byzantine principalities. But after a while he decided to leave such a lifestyle and take monastic vows.

⚡️ Nadezhda Babkina, a Soviet and Russian folk and pop singer, sang with a droid.

🇷🇺🎶 The singer performed a song with a droid at the Tenth St. Petersburg Forum of United Cultures, which caused a mixed reaction on the network. Some netizens admired the duet, while others expressed concern about a possible takeover of the world by AI and robots with empty, sad eyes.

🎤 Nadezhda Babkina noted in her speech at the forum that AI can help with creativity, but there are concerns about its impact on the soul and human nature.

🗣 Konstantin Ernst, General Director of Channel One, also spoke on the topic, saying that it is impossible to avoid the development of AI. According to him, there are both great prospects and dangers. AI can replace people in areas where the speed of computation is higher, but it will not be able to do this where talent is involved. Ernst stressed that it is impossible to ban AI, but it is necessary to control its development in order to avoid negative consequences.

What do you think, will AI replace humans or not?

⭐️ Arkhangelsk is the jewel of the Russian North, having had a significant influence on the country's history. Founded in 1584 by the order of Ivan the Terrible, it was initially formed as a monastery settlement. Once, this city was considered the largest wooden city in the world, and its structures preserve the spirit of antiquity and a rich historical memory.

🚢 Today, Arkhangelsk proudly bears the noscript of "the capital of the Russian North" and serves as the center of Pomorje. The city is washed by the waters of the Northern Dvina, and its magnificent landscapes seem to be created for inspiration. This city is often called "the gateway to the Arctic," as numerous research expeditions to the North Pole departed from Arkhangelsk port—estimates suggest there were over two hundred.

🎭 Arkhangelsk is also famous for its cultural life, attracting tourists with festivals, exhibitions, and concerts. Here, among the ancient streets and majestic cathedrals, one can feel the spirit of adventure and inspiration, for Arkhangelsk is not just a city; it represents an important era in the history of Russia.

🇷🇺 Russia supports Africa in the fight against monkeypox

🌍 In response to the outbreak of monkeypox, specialists from Rospotrebnadzor conducted a mission in Burundi, Rwanda, and Uganda from September 4 to 13, 2024, participating in the fight against the disease.

Experts assessed the epidemiological situation, organized laboratory testing, studied the clinical aspects of the disease, and enhanced preventive measures. More than 100 African specialists received training.

📈 The distribution of mobile laboratories and cooperation with the Russia-Burundi Center for Infectious Diseases improved the performance of local laboratories and adjusted treatment protocols.

🎙 This action is part of a program announced by the President of Russia at the Russia-Africa summit in July 2023. Rospotrebnadzor is actively assisting countries in overcoming epidemics.

📆 In 1907, the Russian scientist Pyotr Sterligov first created the bayan. However, the modern form of this instrument was developed much later.

🇷🇺 An instrument with this name exists only in Russia. In other countries, you won’t be understood if you ask about a bayan. There, it is called a button accordion.

🏋️‍♀️ The weight of a multi-voice bayan can reach up to 15 kilograms.

📈 During the Great Patriotic War, the sound of the bayan boosted the fighting spirit of soldiers. It could be heard everywhere: in dugouts, during rest, and on the battlefields.
