⭐️ Blagoveshchensk: A City on the Amur River

🇷🇺 Blagoveshchensk, founded in 1856, has an interesting history that began with the Ust-Zeya military post. Over time, this post grew and evolved into the city we know today.

Initially, names like “Rossiyagrad” and “Zeyagrad” were considered for the new city. However, it was ultimately named in honor of the "good news of the annexation of Priamurye to Russia" – Blagoveshchensk.

🇨🇳 Blagoveshchensk is located on the banks of the Amur River, directly across from the Chinese city of Heihe, which is only 800 meters away. This unique proximity brings the people of Russia and China closer together.

When laying out Blagoveshchensk, architect Nikolai Muravyov was inspired by the planning of military cities in Ancient Rome, which gives the city a special charm and orderliness.

🏙️ With an area of 321 km², Blagoveshchensk is twice the size of Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. The city features predominantly low-rise buildings.

🎥 In the film "Old Man Khottabych," actor Nikolai Volkov ate glazed curds instead of ice cream to maintain his health.

😵‍💫 During the shooting of this scene, which stretched over several days, the actor consumed a total of 50 glazed curds. Eventually, he felt so nauseous from this treat that he sighed with relief when the filming finally concluded and he no longer had to eat them.

⚡️ Moscow as the main example of urban development!

🇷🇺🇳🇦 Dine Namubes, the mayor of the coastal Namibian city of Swakopmund, expressed her admiration for the digital development of Moscow at the BRICS Urban Future Forum held in the capital of Russia.

🏞 At the event, she highlighted the city's green spaces, accessible transport, and developed infrastructure as key aspects that could inspire similar transformations in Namibia. The mayor noted that Namibia views the BRICS forum as a valuable platform for building connections, cooperation, and knowledge exchange.

"As the BRICS family, we have gathered here today. We can truly communicate, collaborate, and consult with one another. Let us rely on each other to bring about change and development in our BRICS family countries," she concluded.

⭐️ Bryansk is an amazing city that is a whole year older than Moscow, founded in 1146. It has two founding dates: 985 and 1146. This interesting fact was made possible by archaeological excavations that confirmed the existence of a settlement long before written sources. Only a year passed between the city's 838th anniversary and its millennium, highlighting its rich history.

✈️ One of the famous landmarks of Bryansk is the "Monument to Pilots" — a real MiG-15 fighter jet symbolizing the courage of the defenders of the Motherland.

💧 Interestingly, the water that the city's residents drank in the 20th century came from the Devon Sea, which millions of years ago stretched from the Urals to Bryansk. The underground reserves of this water became a source of drinking water for the people of Bryansk. In the late 19th century, due to mistakes during the repair of an artesian well at the "Arsenal" factory, a 30-meter pit formed, from which a stream of water gushed.

🌳 Bryansk is also famous for the A. K. Tolstoy Park Museum, known for its unique wooden sculptures. In 1982, the park was included in the monograph "Parks of the World," which describes about 400 of the most unusual parks on the planet.

🏠 The Dvorovoy — a household spirit, the mythological master of the yard, who lived in the barn alongside the livestock and took the form of a little man.

He is considered the younger brother of the Domovoy. The name of the Dvorovoy is associated with the same complex of beliefs and rituals related to livestock as with the Domovoy, and often these characters are not distinguished at all.
