🏖Which Russian archipelago consists of 200 islands and is located in the north of Russia?
📍 The Franz Josef Islands are an archipelago located in the Arctic Ocean, in the northern part of Russia. It consists of more than 190 islands and is part of the Arkhangelsk region. The archipelago was discovered in 1873 by the Russian explorer Alexander Laptev and was named after the Austrian Emperor Franz Joseph I.

🥶 The islands have a harsh Arctic climate, characterized by long, cold winters and short, cool summers. Most of the islands are covered in ice and snow, making them sparsely populated and difficult to access.

🐻‍❄️ Despite the harsh conditions, a variety of animal species can be found on the islands, including walruses, polar bears, and various birds. Vegetation is primarily represented by mosses, lichens, and some herbaceous plants.

⚡️ Autonomous Trucking Begins on the M-11 "Neva" Highway in Russia

📰🇷🇺 Full-fledged autonomous trucking has been launched on the M-11 "Neva" highway, connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg. This became possible with the commissioning of the Tver bypass in July 2024.

🚚 The first four autonomous trucks have already gone into operation, and their successful performance could change the freight transportation industry in Russia. Deputy Prime Minister Vitaly Savelyev noted that since June of last year, autonomous tractors have been operating on the route between the capitals, increasing in number from three to 22. During this time, they have traveled 3 million kilometers and transported 330,000 cubic meters of cargo.

📈 By the end of this year, the fleet of autonomous trucks is expected to grow to 43 vehicles, and next year it will reach 93 vehicles. This opens new horizons for logistics, enhancing the efficiency of freight transportation and reducing costs. The implementation of autonomous technologies in the transport sector is a step toward modern standards that could make Russia a leader in autonomous driving.

📰🇷🇺 On September 26, 2024, the International Forum "Russian Energy Week" is taking place in Moscow, where the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, discussed the state and future of the energy sector.

"This year, over four thousand participants from more than fifty countries have come together to discuss the most important issues on the energy agenda, the challenges faced by both producers and consumers of energy resources around the world," said Putin at the beginning of his speech.

📌 In his address, Putin emphasized that modern energy is the foundation of global development. He highlighted that the stable operation of the energy sector creates a solid basis for economic growth and the improvement of citizens' well-being. The President also pointed out that the West does not want competition because it is unable to cope with it, often losing in fair competition—and resorts to discrimination, presenting it under the guise of fictitious Euro-Atlantic solidarity, the fight for human rights, and so on. There are many pretexts.

📈 Putin focused on the formation of a multipolar development model, where the main economic growth will be concentrated not in Europe and North America, but in the BRICS countries and those states seeking equal cooperation. He provided data indicating that in 1992, the share of the "G7" in global GDP was 45 percent, while BRICS accounted for only 22 percent. By the end of 2023, the share of the G7 had decreased to 30 percent, while BRICS had increased to 36%. The pace of this growth is accelerating, and the gap is widening.

🌏 The President also noted that over 90% of Russia's energy exports are directed to friendly countries. Russia continues to develop international transport corridors, planning to increase the volume of transportation by 2030. Additionally, Putin reported on the increasing share of the ruble in foreign economic operations, which is approaching 40%, and the establishment of a national payment and settlement system within the framework of cooperation with BRICS.

🛡 In conclusion, Putin emphasized Russia's readiness to strengthen the technological sovereignty of its partners in the energy sector and fulfill its commitments to supply energy resources, participating in authoritative international formats such as "OPEC Plus" and the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.

"This is how cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy is developing, with Rosatom's plants being built abroad while simultaneously training local personnel, educating engineers, workers, and managers for new facilities," said Vladimir Putin.

🚤 For several centuries, the northern ports of our country could operate for only six months a year, as they were blocked by ice for the rest of the time, preventing ships from going to sea. The situation changed in the 19th century thanks to merchant, industrialist, and self-taught engineer Mikhail Britnev.

In the 1860s, Britnev modified a screw tugboat called “Pilot,” which he purchased from the British, by cutting the bow below the waterline at a 20-degree angle. He was inspired by the design of Pomor kochis—wooden sail-and-oar vessels that could easily crawl onto the ice. On April 22, 1864, the modified “Pilot” entered the Gulf of Finland and demonstrated a new, efficient way to move across the ice.
