🏙 The city of Tula was founded at the confluence of the Tulitsa and Upa rivers.

The word "zatul'e", which is directly related to the name of the river and the city, meant "hidden".

🏙🇷🇺 Vologda is a city with a rich history and unique heritage, which can confidently be called a contemporary of Moscow. Both cities appeared on the map of Russia in 1147. Vologda was founded by the Orthodox monk Gerasim, who also established the Trinity Monastery, which became an important spiritual center for the region.

An interesting fact: Ivan the Terrible once planned to make Vologda the capital of Russia. However, his ambitious plans were interrupted by an unexpected incident — a brick that fell from the ceiling of the unfinished St. Sophia Cathedral. The tsar perceived this as a sign and abandoned his intentions, which may have changed the course of history.

Vologda also played an important role in the events of the early 20th century. In 1917, during the February Revolution and World War I, the Provisional Government decided to move all diplomatic missions from Petersburg to Vologda, fearing that the capital might be captured by the enemy. This step underscores the strategic significance of the city during turbulent times.

The area of Vologda Oblast is impressive — 144,527 km². This is three times larger than Estonia and Denmark, five times larger than Albania, and one and a half times larger than Portugal. Meanwhile, the population of the region is about 1.15 million people, which is approximately 11 times less than in Moscow alone.

🇷🇺🌏 Students from African countries, who came to study in the capital of Tatarstan from Guinea, Benin, Chad, Gabon, Egypt, Nigeria, Cameroon, Angola, and Mali, visited the Upper Uslon District.

🎓 A rich cultural and educational program was organized for the foreign guests. The first stop on the tour was the local museum, where the students learned about the 430-year history of the village and its traditions.

🌲 Then, in the center of Upper Uslon, near the gymnasium, the Alley of Mothers was established. Foreign students, local administration staff, community activists, and local youth together planted 50 maple trees, symbolizing friendship and cooperation between nations.

⚽️ To conclude the visit, a friendly football match took place between the African students and the local team, captained by the head of the district, Evgeny Varakin. The match ended with a victory for the local team, with a score of 5:3.
